@ the drywall Doctor. when using the 3m 61 spray glue you really should spray the drywall AND the bead. Wait about 20-30 seconds and it's set no staples or nails. In impact areas with vinyl bead I run mesh on mud legs 2 coats over- mint!

I have a tub surround with sheetrock butted to the flange not over. I had planned on using trimtex shower bead (has the 2.25 mud flange). Now i realize its next to impossible to find the stuff. Any good alternatives?

Ok I would look for some super wide straight flex and use it to flat tape it. No Coat would work too but the super wide will hold up better in the bathroom.
@kevinwinkle80912 жыл бұрын
@THE DRYWALL DOCTOR Thanks for the tip. I hadn't heard of flex tape but I looked it up. I'm thinking about ripping wood strips to fill the gap and then just using the 1.25 bead that you can get at the box stores.

I'm in the process building a 40ft by 20 ft brand new detached garage. What's your recommendation for creating a clean look with the 6 inch concrete curb and drywall that sits on top of it? They will be using 5/8" drywall and I asked them to make the drywall flush with the concrete curb. The gap will end up varying throughout the length of the wall and I thought using a Tear Away Bead between the 6 inch curb will create a clean look. I thought about using an 8" baseboard to cover up the seam between the concrete curb and drywall, but that will stand out like a sore thumb. Your thoughts and recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for this. Your videos were the ones that led me to look for this type of product that I didn't know existed. Will this work similarly with cementboard? I am putting cementboard under a glue-up shower surorund and the walls next to the surround are an old printed plywood from the 70s. I couldn't find the trim tex brand but I found clark deitrich. Hey Doc, I have a door that is in a 1 ft. deep "Hallway" That is the exact dimension of the outside jamb if that makes sense. So I have to die the drywall right into the jamb, almost like a jamb extension, would this be the product to use to do that?

I have a situation... I'm a renovator. I tore out a shower and rebuilt it. After tile, the shower is about 1/4in off the wall where it meets the drywall. I'm planning on building out the drywall and skimming out a couple of feet to hide it. Should I use a tear away bead or just green tape the metal edge of the tile?
@THEDRYWALLDOCTOR13 жыл бұрын
If I'm understanding you right I think I would use the tear away bead and make a definite line rather than trying to float it in. Can you send me a picture to my email address thedrywallphd@gmail.com

It wasn't possible to get the drywall flush with the concrete block wall? It was necessary to have the drywall stick out 1/4" from the block wall? I don't know the backstory here. Would be interesting to know the answer to these questions. But thanks for the video. Nice video. I see how to use tear away bead correctly now.

Interesting how easily your tear away part came off. I used this the other day mine would not tear away. It kept breaking every few inches or it would vear away from the line. I ended up having to score it with a razor blade.

I was wondering if you were open to a sheetrock question as I am in the pre-sheetrock stage of a new construction home. I am finding several of the sheetrock guys I spoke with recommending using a specific drywall seller (there are closer ones) and they claim they have better sheetrock like Certainteed - I looked at the sheetrock at HD or Lowes and they are made by USG and Georgia Pacific and they seem the same to me so I was wondering if maybe there is an incentive to the installer for me to buy as they tell me call and give your address, and pay for all the material they listed out for the job.
@THEDRYWALLDOCTOR14 жыл бұрын
I prefer USG but each contractor has his or her favorite. I get a 2% discount on materials if I pay before the 15th of the month. My suppliers are not closer then Home Depot but I trust them to stock the drywall where I need it and if they damage anything (including the drywall) they replace it or pay to have it fixed. I hope that helps
