I honestly highly doubt it will. My first doubt is that a lot of people are looking at Vanilla with rose tinted glasses. A "new" vanilla will never live up to the old. Next thing is that who will play? I'm sure there will be some of the old rose tinted glasses wearers who might like it. But alot of the old players won't. That means new players who didn't try the vanilla experience, but only have the newer versions with all of the convinience included have to fill up some space. Again some might like it, some won't. A lot of it depends on which conviniences or how lifelike to the actual Vanilla experience and which patch version will be played on.

Rare to find a game like that anymore... On one hand you have story based games that you don't want to play in the morning because you want to be able to spend quality time on it... Those games are arguably as good, but it is rare to find a game anymore that you just want to play because you literally want to spend all of your time dedicated to the progression of the game. Whatever form that progression may take, story continuation, skill increases, unlocks... etc. For me, it went SOF, Unreal, PSO, FF10, Halo 2, CS:Source, WoW, Gears, Halo 3, CS:GO(kinda) It seems like the golden age of games has definitely gone away, but I will forever hold out hope that we will enter another one.

This guy has hit the nail on the head. I have played WoW since beta and have been a constant subscriber for years (with few months of downtime at max when I felt burned out) trough vanilla, TBC, WotLK and Cataclysm. In the second half of Cata, after the "Great NERF" I just put the game on the shelf, only renewing my subscribtion for expansion packs and big patch releases where I would max out my char. So I have been with this game trough all of it's high's and low's and I can without a moment of doubt say that the current game can't be called a MMORPG, maybe an ACTION game with pretty big lobbies, but not a MMORPG. It lacks all social and progressive aspects which made original WoW great. All classes are homogenized and all the RPG/lore elements of them have been sacraficed on altar of "fairness and balance", the world feels like an empty shell with more questgiving NPCs than players per zone because everyone is in towns LFRing to max level, the leveling content is too easy and doesn't require help of other players because every class is an overpowered Marry Sue. The current WoW feels like a third rate single player or loby based action game which requires constant monthly subscribtion. All I can hope is that with arrival of WoW classic the game can get a second chance and go with OSRS route of community feedback based development.

What Blizzard needed is not a classic server, but a complete reboot of the game. With new gen systems having an old school community touch to them. At this point WoW is dead and obsolete as a game. P.S. Can't wait for classic servers to go live just to see the catastrophe of all the most dedicated players leaving the "newest" and "greatest" BfA expansion to play classic WoW.

@@Soulessdeeds You need to re-read his comment. "New gen systems having an old school community touch," meaning keeping the fundamentals of what made classic wow so good, but being refined and redone in a new game. Which of course may also have an update in graphics but that still wasn't at all what the point was. The P.S note even reinforces that the graphics wouldn't even play much of a factor by saying most players will be expected to quit the glamorous graphics of current wow, to go play the grainy classic version that they love. Honestly don't how you so confidently misunderstood his comment.

I can relate to "building the name for yourself" In early TBC I spent alot of time to get enchanter recipes(reputation, dungeons and raids) . Soon I realized I had a really decent collection of needed recipes and my name as enchanter started to spread in the server. I got a lot of whispers from random people in need of enchants and I worked for few guilds. That way I also made my money in the game through the tips and was able to afford 280% flying. ( and 280% for my alt instantly when lvl'd) Also made lots of friends through from just enchanting stuff and got invited to raids from different guilds

As someone starting WoW with the US beta and playing it as a raider til the beginning of Cata and afterwards only on and off, I feel the same. At the beginning even getting the epic mount was an archivement that made you feel accomplished. I met so many people while leveling (quests actually needing groups for elite mobs) and doing dungeons that I continued playing with for years to come, while now you are lucky to get a "Hi" and "bye". Back in Vanilla you knew people and they knew you. Good reputation made them come asking to join their dungeons runs again. Even people you didn't know might have heard about you from others. I was running UBRS and suddenly got a wispered, asking if I want to join their ZG raid. Later I joined their guild and continued raiding with them all the way though MC, BWL, AQ20/40 and into Naxx40. Farming resistance gear together Maraudon to get Nature Resistance gear for AQ40 and so on. It felt so great defeating Ragnaros or Nef for the first time, turning in Nef's head in SW, having the NPC yell out my name across SW, giving everyone a sweet 2h buff. The people I was running dungeons with asked me later, if I would join their PVP group that went all the way up to Grand Marshal, which I declined because grinding ranks was boring for me. But still, I never pvped with them before but because they knew me from dungeons runs they came asking. Also people actively asking for other to join groups, flying and riding together to the dungeon entrances made the game feel so much more alive then standing around, waiting for LFG, LFR and so on. I also remember the frist XMas where you could transform into gnomes, where hundreds of players transforming and marching together through Ironforge Polonaise style (in a long line). Or server games like hundreds of people creating naked level 1 gnomes and running from IF to Booty Bay at the same time, many of them becoming monster food on the way. Still I think Naxx40 killed many guilds and BC already didn't feel the same anymore. Like the guy said, all my guildmates and the people I was playing with left the game already years ago. I don't think that WoW Classic will be able to bring back the good times as most people won't return, the playerbase changed and/or got spoiled rotten and I fear there won't be proper server communities like back in the day. Btw, I don't like cross-realm zones and so on. I like transmogs and mounts but funny enough, most of the skins I like are from Vanilla up to Ulduar. Alar's Ashes are on another level. Heard the stories of raid/guild leaders ninjaing the Ashes and leaving. About the islands: I only did the tutorial one and was already bored out of my mind. "Oh look, another way to grind the arbitary resource called Azerite instead of artifact power like the xpac before..."

A casual game that was always casual suddenly starts invalidating things casuals like me enjoyed ,crafting and leveling and pvp where giant gear gaps werent around, and focusing on trying to get casuals into the hardcore parts of the game. And now the game is more simplified than ever and they still havent gotten casuals to become mythic raiders. Or even heroic raiders. And how much stuff has been cut and made worthless to try and get there? The game sells more xpacks than ever because more people pay attention to it now but they sustain fewer subscriptions than ever because all of the other avenues of fun and engagement have been obliterated. Not everyone wants to do the exact same monotonous gear grind and thats all modern wow wants any element of its game to contribute to. Beside pet battles. When devs dont understand what people enjoy about the game they destroy what consumers like about the game. People like modern wow, but there were more things to like in wow pre wod when crafting and alt leveling was still alive and well. More things to like means more reasons to stay subscribed.

Yknow, it’s funny that my whole life I wanted to play WoW and never got a chance to until WoD. When I was younger, my family was way too poor to afford internet, and bought me TBC without knowing that WoW was an online only game. It made me really sad when I was a little kid, and I never got to experience the game at some of its best times. When I got to college in 2015 I had bought WoD and tried to play it, and I tried to really get into the game as best I could. I spent maybe a hundred or two hundred hours on the game before quitting. I felt no desire to get into World of Warcraft as it is now. I always looked forward to my grand entrance into the series, and I looked forward to this game as I looked forward to Diablo 3 on release. Both titles disappointed me massively, and I decided to just quit playing both (I spent more time playing D3 though). What I’m trying to get at is that I wish I had it in me to play WoW, but I’m never going to become a player. I feel that the sentiments Asmongold and the OC have are well-founded. I shouldn’t play WoW and I should let the game progress to a state that it naturally deserves to be in. In the end, I don’t have any interest in how the design philosophy currently is. The game is far too inclusive and I could tell that if I spent time on it I would not feel as satisfied as I might have been when this game was actually good, according to others. I have watched nearly every one of Asmongold’s videos, without even being a player myself. It’s kind of strange if you think about it.

yeah, but most of them were from western markets, and at the time very profitable. blizzard is a company, an entity with the single purpose of making money, there might be really passionate workers there, but its only function is to please the shareholders. with changing market demographics, specifically, the Chinese market being so lucrative it's in their interest to cater to it. story elements don't translate well, organizing even to play a game is seen as kinda subversive, because gaming is seen as this degenerate waste of time and well dictatorships and organizing don't mix well and therefore unpopular. stop crying a river when companies do what they are meant to do. if you truly wanted there to be other goals than profit in economics you should get politically involved, but gamers crying about 'bad companies' without understanding the systemic causes is just boring at this time. you cannot expect a multimillion-dollar corporation to truly care about art and then play offended snowflake when the company ends up taking as much money as they can get from you, for their minimal effort, with a mediocre product as the result.

@@Jdmsword14 I have been following the news and stuff very closely, I can clearly tell that the expansion is bad. The gear progression is the same or even worse than Legion, and I found Legion to be extremely dull too, and I played Legion. I hated the artifact system, I hated the catch up mechanics. The stupid shit where you got more artifact power every week made it so I couldn't care about it because if I just waited a week I could get it easier, but why just wait a week? I might as well wait several months and I would still be just as powerful as everyone else. And when it comes to gearing, you are just handed out gear for doing nothing, and this is even worse in BFA where you literally just stand still or run in a circle and you get rewarded 345 gear or 370 gear from the quest, and they can titan forge into the best gear in the game. Like why the hell should i even bother wasting my time with this? "you don't have to do that content" is what people would say, but that is the dumbest shit you can say. Of course I would do it, if I had that gear, getting more of it becomes even easier in the other content. Oh, and professions makes me laugh. What a joke of a system. The day I quit WoW (only to sporadically return, at the express request of friends), was when the last patch of TBC came out. They nerfed the health of all the bosses, which made it so my guild took down like 8 new bosses in Black Temple. Despite loyally being there for progress runs in Karazhan, Gruul's Lair, Magtheridon's Lair, Serpentshrine Cavern, Tempest Keep, Zul'Aman and Mount Hyjal, I remember not attending that raid, because I just wasn't feeling up to it. I was famous for killing any noobs in the strangle arena in classic and in tbc everyone knew me for talking shit in the trade chat, being one of the pro guilds maintanks and a successful pvp player, but most of all I was sort of an entertainer. I got most of the fame because I was the first person with ashes of alar on my server but all the players in the pro guilds either knew me for talking crap all day or for being a good tank. the part of my reputation I was most proud of was the fact that everyone came to me for help or advice, one night I was bored so I carried a noob warrior who had 1 single epic item and whose gear was far worse than t3 to 1750 rating in 2s, another night I would hear about noobs struggling in karazhan and just randomly join their raid out of boredom which made these guys so happy (BiS t6 geared tank, feral druid, it took some skill but I could tank up to 10 targets, keep aggro and had like twice as much HP as a tank with their item level, so I could carry people hard), and the sickest nights where those when I decided to take 20 friends with me and raid an enemy city. we would go out with only druids and rogues and one single priest. there would be 10 pvp geared enemies seeing a single priest and running after him just to run into an ambush and see their entire group get completely obliterated within 2-3 seconds by this... ninja clan... and some pussycats... the guys who went with me on those raids made clear that it was the most fun experience they ever had in the game. the most intense experience would be a 40vs40 open pvp fight in the blackrock or the hundreds of people fighting in the hellfirepeninsula right after the portal was opened and the zone was full. but the most fun experience was to surprise the enemies in their own city with this entire ninja (rog/dru) raid, as they called in more and more backup we started distracting them and misleading them in front of the gates while we hit the auction house etc.. eventually there were about 50-100 top notch enemies looking for us and barely any of us were killed while we made hundreds of kills.

easy way to explain this=WoW is holding onto the edge of a cliff as it dangles off it and every year after the WOTLK came out they are slowly losing their grip on the cliffs edge. Legion managed to allow them to pull themselves up onto the ledge but then BfA came out and WoW slipped right back off it and back to dangling off the cliff edge.

As someone who started playing during lockdown this really rings home for me. The double XP gain, the easy gold gain, getting gear from every quest even though the vast majority of that gear is a downgrade from the gear I already have. So boring, and beacuse of that I don't want to buy the most recent expansion because why should I spend +£40 on a game that is boring, with a story I feel disconnected from. I even watched videos to try and understand the story but it's impossible when I'm rushed through each expansion. So I got a character to level 92 with causal day to day play, never played more than 30% of the expansions I was pushed through, and there was never any point to do dundgeons and raids because I knew I would outlevel that gear within a few hours/days. There was no point doing dungeons and raids from a story perspective because I only play so much of each expansion before I outlevel everything. Absolutely disappointing.

Thought for the day. I'm enjoying WOW Classic. Taking my time and playing solo for the very most part because it comes naturally to me. I was told that solo play in Classic was or is very close to I,possible so I found that to be the challenge I excepted:). I don't want a fancy car or title in real life. Don't want a trophy. Don't want to max my character but try and make my Main and Alts viable. It's good enough you see. I will help others when I see someone in trouble and if someone asks ill group. However I don't ask to group. If someone asks me to join I guild I say sure but I don't really know how a group will do anything I feel I need. Still I'm having fun. I'm not a good typist so communicating that way is clumsy at least for me, but would love to communicate just by talking which seems natural to me. I'm having fun slowly leveling my Main and Alts as I build each Alts unique professions and use all profession to help each character as I keep their levels more or less equal. So while I'm not following the supposed plan still I'm enjoying myself:) I'm not looking to show off just be good enough to survive. That's my victory.

That's the solution.. lock the levels and talents behind a patch wall.. next expansion has you level from level 60 to 70.. but in 9.0 you can only level 60-62, 9.1 62-65, etc.. People join an expansion max out their character then fall off the face of the planet until the next level grind with the next expansion.. so using Blizzard/Activision logic, Blizzard should timelock the leveling process behind the content patches.

Funny thing, i kept building my server reputation for 2 years during wotlk. I kept forming PUG raids and i gained so much good reputation (except some Finnish guilds called Finnish design and Electric wizards whom tried to stain my name for "stealing loot", yeah it was someone in same party as me who did it and he throw some of that stolen loot from Sartharion. But my good reputation overwhelmed this) It went as far that people from top guilds joined into my PUG raids because they knew i kept going even if people left, i always spend hours to form new groups and assigned new raid days if enough people chose that it is late and they must go. Good things come to people whom do not betray their allies, i cleared ICC 25man as a PUG raid which i consider a decent achievement to do (Though it was done with that 3rd buff in place if i remember correctly). Reason why i never joined into any raid guilds was because those whom i spend time to write proper apply they treated me and my achievements with my PUG raids like a trash. Downplaying the amount of clear i had with PUG raid infuriated me since it required more effort than what their guild raids did. But obviously they kept themselves in a higher standard than what i was and i sure as hell were not going to take it. Some people whom raid on guilds have extremely toxic elitist attitude and i cannot stand it. I had decent amount of clears i had the gear to raid on HC but for some reason that was not enough to them, i had to be treated like a dog and they assumed i should beg from them to accept me to be a part of their elitist club... Maybe i was picking the wrong guilds or they had the worst people handling recruitment... Well one time there was actually guild leader himself talking to me from skype and he was total asshole.

Never had those participation trophies (outside of some goodies at the end of a bike race or whatever). I don't really think they're that common in France, even today. But when I was like 12, I went to a regional fencing event spaning the week-end, we were grouped in two persons teams and after a day of matches, were placed in 8 different brackets of similar level. My mate and myself qualified on the best bracket, and managed to get second place the next day. But when they did the trophy ceremony, they gave the exact same medal for each bracket without ordering or anouncing them. Basically, we would get the same medal as the slow kid who got second in the bottom bracket without any distinction. I saw it coming and being the little dipshit I was, I convinced my pal and the two wining kids to refuse the medal if we didn't get distinguished in any way, the thirds refused. And when the guy started to give us medals like every other kid, I said him that if I was going have the same chocolate medal as the loser, I'd rather have nothing and we left the podium and the winning kid screamed that we were the real winners and that the other were fake. Was both fun and awkward and the organiser looked really mad.

Hit cap and expertise were an awesome part of the game. Accuracy is a stat that is used in many aspects of competition, whether gaming or real life. Hit rating and expertise was stupid because of how restricting it was. For example, you could kill a powerful boss and get a rare piece of gear, but if it lacked hit rating or expertise, you could not equip it because you absolutely needed to be hit capped. Man, when I think about it - every addon I played, when the initial grind was over (leveling my char, professions, getting starting gear, dropping some weapons from dungeons) - the game was becoming some kind of session game. Even in TBC, I remember how I was logging into the game - group with my 2 friends - go to arena master and playing arenas for 4 - 5 hours, then logoff. 12 years of only playing pvp, lul. Now the only reason why I hate WoW - my fav spec is shit in pvp.

While watching this, I can nod and relate to when we had world first on AQ40, Naxx and into TBC... That made the entire game really worth playing, because you actually got something for your hard work which NOBODY else had... Entering Orgrimmar actually made one feel like you were gazed upon, and you actually were by many, and it made you feel like you achieved something in the game... You had items which nobody else had compared today when everybody has the same shit, and if you dont have it, you just transmog some shit to look like it... The point being is that you got rewarded and you ranked above others... But in todays nanny state, it is frowned upon by standing over others... Everybody must be equal, and that is the whole damn point of everything that is wrong with wow and so many other games and irl.. Nobody is equal, there never has been, and there never will be... Sigh.. Just thinking about the good old days makes one sad, but also happy to quit and having to endure the shit state that wow is in today.

We had real fun getting ready for raiding and PvPing while waiting for the rest of the guild to get ready. Yep, the two biggest factors are the removal of social prestige and the removal of the pressure to socialise. Both of these things were done to cater to the same group of people, the worst people in the game who dominate the general forums. They don't want to try to get better at the game but they dont want to feel worse than anyone else or for anyone else to have anything they don't and they also dont want to need to talk to anyone or socialise. People are motivated in MMORPGs by social prestige, just like in real life, in order for rewards to have any social prestige and therefore feel rewarding, they need to be difficult to obtain and rare. In order for one player to feel social prestige, some players need to be able to feel and show that they are better than other players, that means some players need to feel a lack of social prestige and that other players are better than them. If you remove that social hierarchy, nothing feels rewarding. The core loop of motivation, effort, reward has been removed from the game. The other huge part is that the game used to require socialising to succeed and people would organically make friendships, now the game actively facilitate not being social and not making friends as much as possible. Server community is gone.

I agree with you that the attitude is bad, but i wouldn't call the people who hold it bad. They are molded by the current state of the game. As the video points, out, content is bottom and top heavy now, with more e-sports-esque content at the top tiers and a bunch of afk content at the bottom tier. So people at the bottom tier who want to progress have no stepping stones. As someone who has been playing since BC, I've had a few irl friends who started recently tell me that they're terrified to do a real raid because they feel like they have none of the skills for it. When we started playing, as you leveled the game trained you to do things like not standing or fire or pulling things by punishing you for doing them with damage, death, and a little bit of ribbing from people on a small server where reputation mattered. And you quickly learned and matured because of it, and developed skills like mana management, moving out of damaging abilities, a dps rotation, gear priority before you got to endgame. A healer likely had a system down and the addons to heal well. A tank learned to understand dungeon layout and where to pull mobs. And since community was more important, people would mentor you to make learning these things easier. Your guild was more than just obligatory for the perks, it was the people whom you played with regularly. The people playing now have had none of this. They leveled through AFK content, and never had that sense of community. I'm sure a good number of genuinely nasty people joined the game (they always do), but the worst thing about these systems is that they turn your average player into someone who doesn't have the skillset needed in any sort of challenging content, creates a highly stratified content divide with nothing to do, and then uses their resentment to justify its own existence. They systems of the game put them into a catch 22, and that's just another reason why the system is horrible. It self-perpetuates by ruining players.

@Coldwine - Yeah definitely, they removed the difficulty curve that used to exist in the game. I was eased into difficult in the game, during its original design. While questing in vanilla I had to learn how to use CC and all my abilities to survive when I accidentally pulled too much trash. When I entered my first dungeon, I already knew how to CC, I was with people who had to walk there with me, from my server, people who were willing to teach me and wouldn't just leave if I made a mistake and the dungeons became harder as I leveled. I made friends with those people, because they were on my server, we walked to the dungeon together, I needed to make friends to continue doing dungeons smoothly, we needed to communicate during the dungeon to complete it. I got into my first raid because the group needed a warlock specifically and there werent that many max level warlocks. And so on and so on. All of that is gone. The game is completely face roll all the way until its not. I remember needing to group to quest to protect ourselves from the other faction. People used to actually know eachother on the same server. The game design was completely different. Also, it isn't that tons of nasty people joined the game, it's that before there were extremely strong incentives to not be nasty. You had to play with people on your server. You had to manually make groups. That means that if youre rude to people, you will get a bad reputation on the server and people won't want to group with you and it wasn't so easy to just make a new character or to change your name and so on either.

@aLi0ne - Not really man, the game is actively designed to not encourage communication. It's genuinely hard to make friends in the game now. There are a lot of reasons as to why, but it's completely different to my original experience of the game, they removed all the factors that led to me making friends naturally and allowed me to become better and eventually do the highest level content. I tried to remain social in the game as best as I could, I raided in a guild, many guilds, I met a lot of people, played other games with them, even met a lot of them in real life. I'm still friends with people I met years and years ago through WoW. Trying to make new friends through random content though is like talking to a wall, its completely different now to the process I described in my reply to coldwine.

Social prestige should always be earned, not handed to you on a silver platter. Its a leftist mentality that things should be given freely and unearned. Activision, as well as the rest of the california based silicon valley cronies, are neck deep in the very narrative that is causing WoW and other games to lose all value.

Hit rating is kind of like Hunter Ammo, it seemed pointless and annoying but it fleshed out the game and made it have depth. Hit rating was used to balance the gear, At the start of wrath your haste and crit were much lower due to item level and the fact that you had to take lots of Hit + crit/haste gear to reach hit cap. Then as the expansion progressed you could manage your stats by using new items and swapping out old items. Like replacing a hit/haste item with a haste crit item replacing your old trinket with a new trinket that has a ton of hit on it. then replacing another hit/haste item with haste crit. It also let you plan out rewards from the badge vender as you could go for the crit/haste item or the hit/crit item depending on what your need are. Stat min/maxing was part of the game. Also gems added to this as well as you could swap out hit/haste gems for pure haste gems once you got more hit on a piec of gear.

The inherent flaw with the argument of "you used to be a nobody in classic and now youre the big hero" but thats kinda the point though, isnt it? Youve been building up to becoming the hero for like 10 years over the course of the expansions. You started out as a nobody in classic, youve proved yourself in tbc, you helped save everybody with tirion fordring in wotlk, etc. It would make no fucking sense if you'd still be a nobody in the new expansions, since youve spent all those previous ones saving everyone. I feel like thats simple logic that people complaining about the game dont get, (quick FYI) doesnt mean i disagree with all of his points, quite the opposite actually, i just belive in calling out things that make no sense and giving credit where its due.

Not really a flaw in the statement. To me he’s saying that you aren’t a demigod. You have a finite level of power. In BFA it’s like, how much can you pull? That’s how much you can kill at once. In Classic/BC it’s more like don’t pull that extra thing - if you do you’ll probably die. There’s nothing wrong with being the “champion,” but when you are able to annihilate an entire camp without batting an eyelash, and speed along to the next one, on and on...I mean you have literally infinite mana in Retail. Think about it.

Darn. I am turning 34 this year and this video makes me feel like I need to retire from games. So not only life makes you feel like that but other gamers. Makes me want to just die already. Idk I am a casual and I do work and have a family but my passion for gaming and progressing has never left. The difference is just time for me. I will grind and put in the effort and no I don't feel like it should be easy for me at all. Its just harder to catch up and really do the end game stuff that requires the time to do. Maybe mmos are just not for older people but its hard to let go of that feeling.

hit chance makes sense if there are a lot of options in your talent tree, so you can balance both eq and talent tree around one another. You get piece of eq that says your melee attacks always hit but you can never crit? Put your points into flat dmg and make build around it. In WoW the experience is more streamlined when it comes to building your character so it doesnt make sense to have it true, but in more complicated character building games it makes a lot of sense to have insane amount of different stats to balance the game a bit.

That's the problem though. If you restrict parts only for the hardcore and you don't have all the time to play, then people will play something else. The market now versus 2004 is filled with multi-player games and so many options. Blizzard is a company and looks at the best way to retain players. If people feel weak in their escapist fantasy because they can't keep up, then they will just quit.

This is such a stupid ass arguement. The game was at its peek when it was the opposite. They had a great game that people loved, where people could find their ways to achievements and goals, and they took it away from the game, they made it worthless. A game, nor a developer is nothing without a community of players backing it. And its not asbout restricting content for the most hardcore players, no1 wants that, its about creating a social enviroment in the game again. Everyone i know that have had any sort of experience with WoW from MoP and earlier, have a strong love for this game, and most of us really want to play it, but our eager to play our characters is killed out after a couple of months after every new expansion that comes out when we realise how lackluster the game is. There is literally nothing to do for people that actually like to invest themself in the world and the character. I personally do not want to have 10 alts i log onto every day to run weekly m+, heroic clears, world quests. Its repetitive as fuck, and really fatiguing. However, if the core gameplay actually had something going for it, and the social part of the game meant something more than scrolling through the group finder to find a pug group, i am without doubt sure that both my friends and myself would return to the game. And to make the excuse that because blizzard is a company, they have to keep the game the way it is, is dumb. First off, gaming as a industry is thriving, stronger than ever. Hypothetically, i doubt that many of the developers in blizzard would have too much trouble finding new workplaces in other studios. This might have been different in 2004 however, where gaming as a industry was relatively new, and had a questionable future. Id say it was more on the line back then than today. Second, blizzard as a company its a company that still lives on their pride of being a reputable developer, they do not want to be 2nd, or 3rd, they want to be mediocre. Atleast not when activision is in the picture, its a huge cooperation, and these want nothing more than success and a giant paybill, and when it comes to customer related like the relationship between a developer and the player, a big income does not come without many players.

I joined right before ulduar, didn't see anything before it first hand unfortunately but from ulduar all the way to the end of warlords, ulduar was beyond the most amazing raid. It was just so good. It was a nice long raid with good boss mechanics, hardly any silly one shot mechanics to wipe the raid (unless you messed up really bad) those were the days you really got a group of 25 banging lads and had a good time in the chaos for a couple hours

@@rowlandbuck2703 Whilst I agree Leviathan wasn't the most fun boss. It was something different and with a coördinated group, doesn't take that long. However after the first boss, the raid opens up to you. I really liked it, since it wasn't a linear raid. You could progress any way you saw fit. You had optional bosses (ignis, razor, council, auriaya) and the "secret" boss Algalon. You could do the keepers in any order you'd like. The whole idea of activating a boss hardmode whilst already being engaged, was such a cool idea. But hey to each their own :)

The reason one big boss is more appealing to me is that it's an MMO, and we all need one common enemy to work towards. One mutual thing everyone's even bothering gearing up for together to kill together in the end. Open-ended story is more *interesting*, but it feels like you could just work your way through the story yourself that way.

It said a lot about someone, when they go to all that effort to farm their ass off for that shit. We could gear people up in gear from MC and BWL pretty easily if we took them on. I remember chasing many of those Blackrock items myself. It was pretty painful at times but a fun challenge.
