Yeah I remember that one! I should have it recorded, but I never got Anima since I had forgotten a treasure back at one of the temples 😭 so one statue didn't light up

Springs that restore hp and mp go back as early as the first game btw. Very useful in dungeons to make things easier if grinding. These would later be replaced by save points that healed you in most games

The ability system kinda reminded me of the learning system in Lost Odyssey, if I am remembering correctly? Whilst an item is equipped the ability is temporary until you max out the item, and then that ability is permanently learned. You can can then choose which abilities to equip or unequip based on the scenario. This means having weaker stuff equipped for a while, but it's worthwhile in the long run

Yeah!! It's very similar to Lost Odyssey. I like this kind of system 😸 that you learn the abilities, and then can just switch around the equipment and use it when needed because of the attributes.

You are correct! That is the Junon fanfare its an easter egg, good catch! And good call on opening the menu right after the boss fight, so much game overs from not healing as a kid. BTW as you mention with the fast speed you are missing a bunch of things like the extra trance commands and steiners magic sword, you are way ahead in the game so prob no point in mentioning it.

33:16 you can also equip at the bottom not just use, but if the ability is an attack used in battle against an enemy it will be greyed out still. Cure wouldn't be. But yeah I think you just had to move to "equip" at the bottom in the ability menu not use? Its been a while since I played

You will be able to steal from regular enemies and attack at the same time with the ability called Mug. However there are some issues: 1) the damage is random so can be lower than a regular phyiscal attack iirc. Guess they wanted to add a trade off? 2) against bosses you can end up killing them before you steal their item due to poor drop rates, so regular steal and nobody attacking is advised until you get the item

Just something about Abilities. If something is greyed out, try to look if a different character can use it to learn something instead. If you have multiple gear with the same ability then you can get multiple times the AP. Some abilities are more usefull than others, so sometimes you probably want to equip an older piece to learn things before switching it out for newer equipment. Great videos so far. Happy to have found your channel. Lots of good LPs to watch. Especially gems like Lost Odysee which I barely ever see on other FF heavy channels. Guess you played 8 before you came to YT? I mean you said you liked Triple triad.

Yes!! FF8 was the first and only FF game I had ever played before coming to YT 😸 I'm really enjoying FF9, and it's been hard to leave it be... so I've been playing almost everyday 😹 Lost Odyssey, omg I LOOOVE they game!! I'm so glad I gave it a chance.

@@nezkeys79 Yeah, a lot of people don't even know about it, even if it is concidered a different version of FF12 for a lot of people because of the time it came out and the fact that some of the Square devs wandered off to make that game instead. Definately a must play for any FF fans.

Yeaaah you beat the flower!!! With two dead man jajajaja Yeaaaaah the forest start to petrified, great!!! Noooo Blank, you are the best!!! The speed of the atb is one reason the gameplay of 9 is ranked lower for me. Outside of that there aren't any interesting mechanics like in other games (paradigms, dresspheres, garbs, gambits, materia, junctions, job systems, 10's turn based system and sphere grid etc) so overall the gameplay is less fun for me Its still a fun game (there's no bad FF I have played) but I just enjoy it more for its story, vibes, and goofiness than it's gameplay.

​​​@@SlashterpieceGamingI saw that you said the mod increases battle speed and then when you increased battle speed, it felt super speed. Well, that will cheapen the haste spell a little when you finally get it because if its already fast you wouldn't see much of a difference, but its probably fine because without any enhancements the atb speed is ridiculously slow and likely would have grated on you after a while lol. For some reaaon it has never been patched to be faster by Square Enix. They just added a cheat button to speed up on the ps4 version but it also speeds up FMVs iirc. One of the ps1 games it sped up the FMVs which was annoying. FF4 has slow atb as well just not as slow as FF9 so more tolerable, and it was also the first atb game (1-3 are true turn based) so understandable. It's strange how this one needs mods just to fix its unbalanced atb speed tbh.
