I think that Daigo figured he would just do the ordinary stuff, since doing anything fancy to Zangief, T Hawk or Hakan or Hugo will get you thrown to the moon. Plus have you all seen Zangief's throw range? HAVE YOU ALL SEEN IT? If not, go to arcade mode and put the difficulty on hardest and run into zangief then come back to youtube and upload a video on how you got spinpile-drivered into oblivion.

Well yeah there is nothing else to be said, let's be honest. This is the reality of the matchup, the whole point of ryu is you don't let people get up close. Mastering your zoning with fireballs and anti airs is the core part of ryu and can win a lot of matches. It's not as easy as it looks at all xD

Spamming Hadouken? It is the matter of character design. Zangief designed to has higher HP (1100) and good melee attack. Ryu has lower HP than Zangief (1000) with a fireball skill. Plus designed with anti-jump skill, Sho-ryu-ken. Spam Hadouken and defense with Shoryu ken is the basic of Ryu character. Exchanging blow with character with higher HP is stupid (actually in every game.) In a pro match, It's right to use your character at the full potential. If you're playing ranged character but you're not using it, you are gonna exactly lose like 0-5. Because, your damage output will never good as Zangief.

Lol you noobs complaining about Ryu's fireballs should just stop watching or stop playing SF. You obviously dont know tactics and understanding how people play. Daigo has a point in doing those. He's zoning out snake eyes. Daigo already knew he would lose up close, so why not switch it up and see how he does outside. Use a fire ball to fuck him up, then hit him when he's least expecting it. Its called playing smart, and adapting to your opponents gameplay. If snake eyes is any better (not saying he sucks but saying if he knew better tactics), he'd push through those fireballs and understand how Daigo is playing. Daigo reads people, like how he read that snake eyes would jump (because he constantly used it,) and how he read that snake eyes was gonna use his ultra. Snake eyes got frustrated with the fireballs and that frustration is what fucked him up, which was what Daigo was planning on the whole time and it worked. THATS called tactics. Look it up if you dont know what tactics mean because obviously some of you dont. Snake eyes got too happy after the 2nd round in the first fight. Good match, but Daigo read him too easily.

***** I don't know anything about Daigo's Yun (didn't even know he used him lol) but I just watched a match where he was using E. Ryu constantly launching fireballs....at least he was until they kept getting punished (he happened to be fighting Kazunoko's Yun) I am also not familiar with frame data, so I didn't know there was any difference between the two Ryu's fireballs. To your point of Sako, yes he does zone and poke, but when I watch Daigo, it seems to be amost *all* he does. Until someone gets around it, then he'll fight, separate himself, and continue. It's very irritating to watch, even when I know there is a purpose to it.

Are you using the Xbox pad? Are you using the shortcuts for the grabs? Though I haven't ever played a grappler on a pad, I believe with certain practice you can input the commands faster with just a flick of a finger rather than spinning the stick. Look up Vangief if you haven't already, the guy is a beast with his standard PS3 pad. He pulled off standing 720s several times in matches I've seen and he's buffering SPDs all the time.

Hakan and Balrog are both characters that require a certain level of creativity and patience to play with, that's why Infiltration vs PR's match was very entertaining. Daigo on the other hand relies mostly on Ryu to win, he's not there to do something flashy or to have fun, he's at EVO to win.

In fact, when Ryu is 0hp, Zangief can use double laverit to lure the reversal dragon punch. Because the DL will always avoid the first hit of the DP and double counter.

Daigo did not stoop low... Ryu on Street Fighter 4 is more of a zoning character. And that means, he can only fight certain characters by trying to keep them away because if they get in on him, then it's more or less over. Hence why he has different speeds in his light, medium and heavy Hadoukens. To confuse the opponent on which hes going to throw at you.

...Any button can be modified to send any input you want to a console. Go to any stick-modding website, or look up the special 'hitbox' arcade controllers. That still doesn't change two facts--first, SnakeEyes is a tournament player, and this is illegal in tournament play. Second, in Street Fighter, the last one you pressed determines which way you block; you can't automatically block both sides with *any* input. You can add 'PWNED' as many times as you want, it'll never be true.

Forgive my ignorance associated with this game--most of my SF knowledge comes from '90s versions--but why doesn't Daigo change up the speed of his hadokens (assuming that's possible). If he'd thrown slower ones here and there, it would've caused Zangief to mistime his jumps and spin-throughs.

...And, again, in street fighter, you can't block both directions at the same time. It will only accept the second movement input, and if you do manage to input both in the same frame, it sends a neutral input. And, second, it doesn't matter if you weren't talking about modded sticks; the simple fact is, controllers wouldn't have that advantage regardless because anyone can make a stick do the same thing, modding isn't hard and most stick players know how to do it.

Snake is best gief I think, but daigo is just so experience in all matchups its major uphill fight. Someone like infiltration will hard counter gief and play as cheap as possible to win. Gief just has too many really bad match ups
