Hey brotha. I’m planning to run the same turbo and manifold. Could you send me a list of the things you bought? Im a bit newer to this and I would appreciate your specific list.

Did you remove the center turbo mounting bolt , the hard to get to one in order to install the MAP manifold . I don’t understand how you got the manifold over the three studs?
@jasonyama10824 жыл бұрын
Looks good! Suck that you had to modify that bracket for the turbo, hoping it would have been a true bolt on install.

Hey man, how do you like the single quick connect for the bumper? I like the look of the single more than the double but still want to retain rigidity and alignment.
@mpbiv4212 жыл бұрын
I like the look better too. But also I still have my bumper cover bolted on in all the other locations. So the quick releases only need to support the corners on my setup; its not a full quick release bumper cover. If I ever go full race car (big if) and I ever get around to doing my own fab work, and making the whole bumper cover easy to remove, I would probably add several more quick attachment points to hold it securely.

Ever Dyno it yet? About to get a tpc gt spec with map manifold. Researching the install. Might as well buy replacement bolts beforehand it looks like
@mpbiv4214 жыл бұрын
Have not dyno'd it yet. Probably won't for a while because I'm constantly tweaking my tune. Have the boost/fuel/spark more or less where I want it currently, but trying to fatten the whole power curve with fine tweaks.

@@mpbiv421 nice, I'm currently dealing with evoscan that doesn't wanna log. It says it connects but the log files are a mess with repeated values etc. Fun stuff lol

Hi . I do have a question in regards of priming a new turbo setup . Since I upgraded to a walbro 450 pump and deaschwork harness with relay setup by battery just like you have , do you disconnect relay under hood for fuel pump and relay that’s by battery in the trunk as well then attempt to start up ? Or remove relay from trunk only ?
@mpbiv4213 жыл бұрын
If you have the relay setup like mine, I would probably pull the relay in the trunk for the deatschwerks re-wire kit. If you pull that it shouldn't start unless you still have some residual fuel pressure, but even then it will probably shut right off. Another method is to just unplug the four injectors.

How’s the blanket manifold holding on?
@mpbiv4212 жыл бұрын
Blanket is holding up well! Still looks pretty dang new. I really like how it looks compared to the other heat shields on the market. I'll have to see what the inside looks like soon, as I need to go in there and tighten up the manifold/turbo bolts.

Waiting to install my Tubular Manifold & turbo all at one time . Would you say this is something that could be knocked out in a weekend?
@mpbiv4214 жыл бұрын
HTX Lui, yes I think most people could do it in a weekend. Just make sure you have all the hardware and parts on hand before you start. And also I would soak all the exhaust manifold/turbo/down pipe bolts with penetrating oil the night before you start working on the car.
@distilled72194 жыл бұрын
Yea it took me 4 days because some bolts snapped but if it didn’t snap it would of been easy 1-2 days. Just make sure to loosen your turbo to install the manifold if need be

Did you have your AMS Downpipe removed when you were installing your MAP exhaust manifold?
@mpbiv4214 жыл бұрын
I had it resting in place, but did not have it bolted to the turbo until after I was able to get the manifold on and tight.
@cyprianskiba87684 жыл бұрын
mpbiv421 I take it you had all three bolts that hold the turbo to the engine removed? The Downpipe bolt, the hard to reach bolt in the center and the bracket bolt near the 3” air inlet?
@cyprianskiba87684 жыл бұрын
Where did you get the studs for the turbo manifold housing? Did you have to remove the studs out of the engine block?
@mpbiv4214 жыл бұрын
Standard mitsubishi part, but I bought it from here: stmtuned.com/collections/mitsubishi-evolution-x-exhaust-gaskets-install/products/oem-mitsubishi-evo-8-9-x-turbo-to-manifold-stud also there are two studs in the head that get removed for the MAP investment cast manifold install, but all the rest stay in place.

@mpbiv4214 жыл бұрын
Denny Le it’s a total B..... but two 3/8 drive wobble extensions and a very big breaker bar finally worked for me. I tried a universal joint but almost broke that. A universal impact socket might work also but I didn’t have any. Getting it back in and aligned without cross threading can also be a pain. I suspect a lot of people don’t re-install all the support brackets and bolts when doing this swap.

What was your final numbers when you got tuned
@mpbiv4214 жыл бұрын
No Clue. I omitted an important detail in all these videos, and that is that I self tuned the car on the street using evoscan and ecuflash. I debated showing some of the techniques but I don't really consider myself a tuning expert nor do I want people blaming me if they blow up their stuff. Eventually it will go on the dyno, but only after I have several thousand miles on my tune and am happy with it.
