Manipulation is a word ppl use to make subjects sound bad. Manipulation is used in every possible dynamic, don't ask whether there is manipulation, ask if something is true or if their is overwhelming evidence for it.

Someone can hold a belief in a Conspiracy Theory with no evidence or valid reason to believe it, and it can end up actually being real. And they use that accidental truth as justification to believe in all their other Conspiracy Theories with no evidence as well.

Man, you really quarter-assed this one. He came in with "people are using evolution to manipulate the population's ideologies" EASY, EEEEAAAAASY follow-up questions: 1. WHO is manipulating the population 2. HOW is evolution used to manipulate the way people think? By what methods? 3. WHAT ideologies are being selected for? 4. WHEN have we seen evolution be capable of manipulating thoughts and opinions? 5. WHY would people use something like evolution to manipulate peoples' held beliefs rather than tried-and-true methods like propaganda campaigns and social espionage? Feels like you didn't even try with this dude man, you could have gotten him to answer these questions or similar ones, then asked him specific questions about how he knows this is true, but instead you just "you're not even saying anything, I don't know what you're talking about"
