Regarding dom's scenario, I would argue that the pistol is the first layer of defense. Typically, if I'm awake and I'm clothed, I'm carrying. It's with me when I'm going about my business in the house. Things like long guns are secondary simply because they are something that would be deployed from a stored location. With that in mind, I would argue that transitions are still applicable to home defense, but mainly in the context of moving to a situation where I need a hand free such as calling 911, or scooping up my 8 month old off the carpet.

Liked just for the AR-10 and Stoner talk. Btw, I believe it was George Sullivan himself who spotted Stoner at the range. Both men had an eye for engineering, so Sullivan would've instantly been drawn towards Stoner's work out of principle alone.

(I do realize that the point is that the safety should be off if you are using a gun with a safety but I laughed when they put a circle around the glock and said "safety off").
