Colion Noir explores aspects of survival, from picking an end-of-the-world pistol and uncovering America's fascination with the Zombie apocalypse, to diving into the warrior mindset of veteran U.S. Marine Buck Doyle. The sixth season premiere of NOIR also debuts a new segment with veteran U.S. Navy SEAL Dom Raso. In the first installment, Raso details "Shooting At Your Six" and he alerts us to the three keys to be aware of when shooting to the rear.

Life. Is. Survival. No room for precious fee fees and being offended or scared. Thought I say that I still shake like crazy even though I try to stare back into the darkness. These videos are very helpful and helps open eyes to a different world so to speak even if one is starting to get into guns or have been with guns for a while.

I think the obsession with the zombie apocalypse is due to this... the zombie apocalypse is an analogy for the “what if” scenario. Allowing us to daydream an end of the world scenario (that we can prepare for) that is in a fun and less depressing way; for, if you are prepared for the zombie apocalypse with food, armor, ammo, plans and guns then you are probably prepared for anything else.

Hudson gets it. I would like to add that it is more of a prepper/survivalist thing and there is a HUGE crossover. People, when starving will revert into a mode where they shuffle along and think about nothing but eating. Their brain function and motor abilities will vastly decrease. It may not be brains they are after but if you look well fed and active they will know what's up. If they smell what the rock is cooking you better be ready to rock and roll because they will use their last bits of energy to gather and swarm you till they have what it yours.

Screarnt it doesnt even need to be that complicated... if you use the zombie scenario for training for home defense then you can train in a fun and less serious way that may be interesting for the whole family but still has a practical purpose. I think it has many applications.

This. We've seen the zombie apocalypse. It was the LA riots, NOLA after Katrina, Ferguson, etc. anywhere complete lawlessness is allowed.

Agreed. Mob mentality is the same as the horde of zombies. And go ahead with the rest of the total breakdown of society... no government, no goods and services, no power, no water, no nothing. If you are ready for zombies, you're ready for just about anything. It's a great survival preparation metaphor

During a zombie apocalypse the only person that has any business using a revolver is jerry miculek. He’s got a video where he dumps 100 rounds from a semi auto SAW in under 30 seconds. He put all but 5 on target from about 7 yards. Sure they weren’t head shots but that still EXTREMELY IMPRESSIVE and I don’t see anyone else pulling that off.

I've done these tactical courses like the one during the 11 min mark. They are so awesome and they teach you to scan and call out "contacts" and direction. They also will give you a benefit of using hand signals if you run in tandem with a spotter. I noticed that moving around a little across terrain that isn't flat will get you breathing heavy which obviously changes your shooting approach and accuracy.

what Union brothers, in our shenanigans, unknowingly showed me, is that my reaction time to wtf, to my time of realizing a situation, was delayed. you can also by taking a tape measure, and while the target of the shenanigans is facing away unaware, put the dumb end close enough for him to hit when he turns around. watch the reaction, and reaction times. then again we use to hit each other with made and pepper spray just to get use to it. it becomes an annoyance and reaction times reduce with practice. stay tough America.

I think the zombie fantasy provides the people who never use a gun for real or have any real testing of their manhood, so to speak, an outlet. The zombie fantasy gives them a “what if” fantasy that provides a free fire zone where they can fantasize numerous kinds of threats and not have to worry about laws or rules and allows that “anything goes” , “what if” test of survival.

3R Productions they might do i think the one advantage is that you can store the energy and just lay in for an ambush and release the arrow on triggerpull. That's why they where feared and banned by European authorities in medieval times.

That depends on a lot of factors. I have a 120lb recurve crossbow that is on its second strong. I have a compound that is on its first. I have a little pistol crossbow on its third string. That thing seems to go though them faster. I have a recurve bow on first string, and a second less powerful, but much older bow on its second. In my experience, they need replacement about as often as my normal bows do.

Excalibur crossbows can easily be unstrung. That's what I do when not in use.

Contradictory training tip from random guy on the internet incoming: Coming from an American (and for anyone else that reads left to right) it is better to scan right to left than left to right. Since we have spent our whole lives reading everything from left to right, our brains have become very efficient at glancing over things in that direction and filling in the spots that it misses with the most logical thing from our experiences. (Pay attention the next time you read something and see how much you are actually used to skipping over and your brain filling in.) When we scan in the opposite direction to what we are used to, our brains are forced to work harder and in turn, absorb more information since it won't be trying to glance over things and filling in the gaps.

Great show. To me the “zombie apocalypse ” and the “prepper movement” are about the uncertainty that people have been dealing with since 9/11. The world changed that day. History is full of social collapses. So zombies are more of a metaphor for being ready for anything and having skills and tools to survive and help others. I’m sure there’s more to it, but that’s my two cents. Great work as always.

I love this guy, being Australian and seeing all gun laws and controversy I can say my mind is a one way road. But after watching just a couple episodes of you. I love it, I wish we had the right to buy guns for protection. Get this though at this very moment I know atleast 10 property owners who would allow me to shoot on their property thus giving me a legal reason to purchase and possess firearms. Guns are a tool for farmers, just like a socket set for a mechanic. Even though Australians are allowed to own guns under the right circumstance, we aren’t allowed to enjoy them or atleast not able to openely say we enjoy them. We have a culture that guns are this big evil and it’s mainly induced by stereotypes, and I can say I love this channel because it breaks away from the “gun nut” stereotype, just by the way you research and relay the information in such a passionate but level headed manor. Love it love it love it. Keep it up.

personally i'd rather have, compound, recurve or lng bow, sure their harder to pull the string back and on a recurve and long bow you gotta hold it their for a while, but in the end their less complicated to use and if the string breaks you can either re rig it or fid something else to replace the string with if not another string, good video man

Older crossbows are easier to cock back but the newer ones kinda tear up your hands unless you have a rope. It’s hard make bolts for to because wood will split.
