Yeah but she isnt in Iceland like she mentioned she was in a discussion for and if you walk in any major supermarket such as Asda, Tesco etc you will not find her product at the date of making this comment. So, in all fairness, I think the wisdom of the dragons here was accurate, she needs seven figures because her progress has actually been the same as an average e-commerce seller: website, postage and packaging, courses etc... Nothing to really brag about in 2021. Heck! I have done all those things myself and I am far from a dragon.

The difference being Reggae Reggae Sauce sits on a shelf, not a stand up, dedicated freezer put in the aisle. Also RR sauce was "unique" enough as the UK mainstream market didn't have many similar products. There are already huge known brands in curry sauce. It also helped that Levi Roots himself was an advert for his own product and gave it that instant branding.

Coming from the retail background, Indian curries have been done long time ago. Frozen curry sauces wont work for the majority because people dont look for healthy when purchasing curry sauces. When you have players like Pataks around and then the other Major players with powdered mixes then I doubt anyone wants frozen. Indian food is probably the easiest to cook and usually the base is somewhat the same in all the curries and a trip to KZbin would make curry lovers make it from scratch as opposed to buying a frozen curry sauce, otherwise it would have already been executed by a major Indian brand. Frozen Indian foods apart from snacks simply do not work!

Patenting food is a hopeless endeavor. The end product can be nigh identical, but add a cup more water, and reduce for an extra half hour and boom. The process is completely different without adding something new! That guy is absurd, and completely naive to the culinary world. It is absolutely one of the most brutal industries to get into.
