There's only 1 prison in Norway that's like that and they spend like hundreds of thousands of dollars on each inmate most of which are not even from their country, the other prisons in the surrounding countries are as bad as the US.

Larry I did a week in jail for DV and that was enough for me. Your words have helped me not go back. I got 1 week in jail 10 days house arrest and 1 year probation. Thank you for these videos that truly help me. My dad did 7 years in prison and my brother did 2 years and I dont want that path.

I'm a former CO with the WI DOC from a medium security institution, and I almost always took a tray for when I was on 2nd shift. Hamburger day was always looked forward to by the inmates and honestly the food wasn't that bad. Although that might be because they past a policy that the food has to taste good and be of decent quality in the WI DOC.

I was in FCI Talladega for nearly 8 years and 4 of those were in the CMS paint shop. I've personally seen (Dozens of times)while painting boxes in the kitchen marked 'not fit for human consumption' that we had for chow that day or night.

I was at a work farm prison and I got to admit the food wasn't bad. Some was actually pretty good. I had my hustle so I always had plenty of commissary but I ate at the chow hall everyday.

Hey Larry! Love your content. Quick comment: A friend of mine went to maximum security (Ohio, you were there I think) and nowadays they *don't* use stamps. People were making too much money, so the prisons started moving to stamped envelopes. Ramen is the main store of value from what I understand. What a shame.

Favorite food in jail, cereal, we had frosted flakes, fruit loops, honey nut Cheerios. I'd take hard boiled eggs, or bologna sandwiches for cereal, it was the only thing that was what I normally eat outside.

I never thought about dying while I was fighting for my life. Only after sitting in the hole or lock down gives you the time to think about it. I did find that being by myself for long periods of time you think your gonna go crazy 🤪 but I ended up finding myself and that set my soul and mind free and from that point I enjoyed being along, searching my mind and soul was the greatest learning experience of my life. I learned how to be a writer and how to write ✍ great stories with emotion and heart. The food sucked but you do get used to it and if you can get a job in the kitchen you/I was able to make anything I wanted. County jail like Nassau county jail food always sucks 😕 like those court sandwiches. If you know how to survive and use the things around you and your smart you can make your time easier than others time. The one thing that sucks is while your fighting your cast you will get stuck in county and that could be a long time ⌛ county jail is operated like a Max just because everyone there is there for all kinds of charges. I'm so happy I moved outta NY and stay out of trouble now.

In prison, I avoided things and foods that I could get on the outside. It helped me compartmentalise my life inside and out. Most guys did all they could to get stuff from the outside.

In the UK prison food was pretty good well in 90s was…on Friday you get fish peas and chips (fries) & for desert cake & custard…. love desert I’d swap my main meal for cake & custard it’s was a jam sponge loved it.

This was a good one thanks Larry and Jess. When you were talking about ken jennings and memory, idk about him but a lot of those guys use a technique called the memory palace. They imagine themselves in a familiar place like their neighborhood, and they picture themself walking down the street and replace the buildings with whatever facts they want to remember. So if they want to remember that burr and Hamilton dueled in 1804 they’ll replace a real landmark with an image of them dueling on top of the number 1804 or something along those lines. I always thought that was interesting, even using the technique I think I’d still have a hard time with it. I’m not like Larry, I always forget!

If the food sucks at least it means you are adequately fed. I've been to countries where starvation is common and the people there would eat anything, even stuff that would normally be downright repulsive. Thankfully I've never seen that kind of famine and hunger in this country. Shit goes sideways real fast when people are that hungry and desperate. There is nothing more dangerous than someone with nothing to loose.
