I forgot to mention in the video that the refrigerant had already all leaked out of the refrigerator, which is what made me decide it was finally terminal. Smashing it didn't do anything to the environment, and probably helped it because I separated out all the steel and copper, probably better than they do when dealing with refrigerators commercially. Or not disengaging fully. From my 10 seconds of googling, they appear to be similar to car disc brakes, so maybe a pad isn’t retracting fully or is worn down. I know some car brake pads have little tabs on them that drag on the rotor when enough pad material is worn away. The sound could even be caused by a bit of metal getting stuck somewhere and dragging on something else, this machine did live most/all of its life in a scrap yard.

If you carefully cut along the pipe with an angle grinder, all the way down the ferrule (the bit holding the hose to the special fitting), you should be able to lever the ferrule open and remove the hose with no damage to the fitting. The ferrule is the only thing holding the pipe "tight" to the fitting. The ferrules are standard sizes for each size and rating of hose - the internal barb is standard to the hose nominal diameter. Well done on the repair!

We have a 12 year old Electrolux fridge. One of the last Australian made fridges, made at their former factory at Orange NSW Australia. Shortly after buying our fridge they announced the factory was closing with many people losing their jobs. It was sad to hear. This fridge has been the best one I’ve ever had. Besides being an Australian made fridge the main reason I bought it was its efficiency and low power consumption. It replaced an LG fridge that used twice the power though it was almost half the size. It was expensive, close to half as much again as a fridge made in South Korea or China. Our Electrolux fridge still runs fine and looks good. Hopefully it will keep running. Today Electrolux fridges are made I think in Thailand and don’t look as good as our Australian made Electrolux fridge.

Only problem with JIC is pressure ratings. 1" Jic is only rated to 3k psi. 1" ORB is 5k psi which is in the range of what he needs. OFS is 6k, if there is a way to modify to OFS that would be ideal

Oil analysis is useful, but your hydraulic oil contamination probably was very high because you took your samples from the hydraulic cylinder which is a deadheaded circuit. Generally you should take oil samples from circuits that recirculate fully through the system such as a motor circuit.
@FarmCraft1016 ай бұрын
Yep, you are right. I hadn't thought of that when I gathered the sample. But the good news is the test would only be worse in a dead end circuit than the rest of the system, so I feel pretty good about the state of the oil overall.
@brevnasium6 ай бұрын
@@FarmCraft101 with all those leaks it probably wasn't much of a dead end anyway :)
@keithsilva63306 ай бұрын
What? I don't get deadhead? All oil moves about the machine. Even a ram that is single ported for a dump truck is exchanging oil from supply to return [ stoke to stroke]. As is a cylinder moving back and forth. As to testing; a sample should be drawn mid level at the reservoir tank... At the end of the day that's where the oil is that represents the systems overall condition. Not withstanding an owner can ultimately do what makes him/her Happy 😆
@PastelPalace6 ай бұрын
@@keithsilva6330sorry you’re wrong on that. The oil in a hydraulic cylinder only moves as far as the stroke of the cylinder notwithstanding a small amount of leakage. There are separate ports for the cylinder to move in one direction or the other so there is always a some amount in the lines that is not recirculated. Any small amount of mixing is mostly due to diffusion. Just Google a hydraulic cylinder circuit and you’ll understand.

My oldest brother had an oxyacetylene rig, then he got a plasma torch. Gave me the whole rig. About 2 years ago, a friend moved out. Looked at his place after he left, found FOUR old propane tanks. A few days later, and over $80 less, I had 4 new filled tanks. Gotta love Home D! First thing I bought, a propane torch regulator. Looks and works, like the acetylene regulator. Propane is dirt cheap, still. About $20 a BBQ bottle. Propane is SO useful. The AC at this house, was leaking all its R 20 out. Filled it up quite a few times that summer, with R 290. Yep, BBQ propane. Left the set of gauges under the AC unit, along with the propane bottle. When we got hot, up the ladder, and add some propane "Freon." We survived all that summer, running propane through the AC. Oh, propane works just fine. So does butane. (R 600.) steve
@mikehunt32226 ай бұрын
I’ve found propane doesn’t work as good as acetylene on torches though, even if you have the correct tip. Propane doesn’t burn as hot so it takes at least twice as long to heat the metal up to make a cut especially on thicker material so you’re using at least twice as much propane as you would acetylene. Thats alright if you’re just messing around as a homeowner but commercially it ends up costing more in time.
@Tailss16 ай бұрын
Find, buy or borrow a propane sniffer tool and try to find the leak, hopefully it isn't on the inside part although if it was I would think you would smell propane every time the ac turned on...probably a bad O ring at a coupling.

Isn't it funny how heavy equipment can also pass as a stress reliever? I've got a feeling that the beast is going to become a new viewer favorite. Jon, thanks for the instruction and for the humor. I was hoping you were going to run into a bad seal somewhere so we could laugh at the seal wearing an eye patch. Stay safe.

Yeah, you have to relieve the stress it causes from owning it. 😂

Thank you for the hercules seal catalog info on a previous video, I ordered one for myself so I can find seals I need as well. Thank you, I enjoy your content as well, I'm always willing to learn new stuff!

Hi Jon, regarding the slew/swing noise it would be worth checking the slew/swing brake if one is fitted. That noise sounds metallic enough to be like a cars disk brake going metal to metal. Just a thought.....

Jon look into a jump pack instead of the charger. They are great to have when you transport any machinery because they never start when you want to get going. Lol
@stevenkroot316 ай бұрын
Jon, what you need is a start cart. Couple of 12 volt batteries that can be configured to 12 or 24 volts. On a trailer that can be towed behind the side by side, with a 100 watt solar panel and charge controller. Maybe a 1kW inverter for remote power. Always ready, versatile, convenient, and multipurpose.

LOL on refrig fix, it brought back a memory of my late father when I was about 14, he had just built our new house next door and what he done to a old HEAVY Speedqueen. My Dad and uncle both hurt their backs dragging the old Speed queen out of the cellar to the new house, the Speed queen lasted exactly 2 weeks, and trashed the gear box,. I came home from school and Dad has the 4500 backed up to the walkout basement door, and yelled come down here and guide this, he had a chain hooked to it, and a piece of plywood under it ,and drug it out the door, then commenced to make it in a square block about 12" in diameter outside, never seen him smile so big !! LOL. There you bastard you wont hurt anyone else:s back again was his words I heard LOL. I later worked on backhoes when Dad had to sell out due to a man related cancer thingy, but on the hose you taped up, I would have replaced it, oil is expensive, when it blows and pumps out 20 gallons FAST on the ground, and not to mention down time isnt going to save money, where I worked at least. Watch those windows so you dont snag a arm on one and spring a leak in ya!! Be funny putting a pair of Bermuda style shorts on Dozer LOL Neat channel!!

The oil is probably super clean cause they probably have been running it low and filling it up for years. Can't be dirty when it is brand new all the time! Honestly hadn't seen that bucket trick before! Appreciate that one.

What about tapping the Frenchy fitting to NPT, then you can use a more commonly available hose with swivel NPT's?
