Excavator Stuck in Pond!!! Can the Kioti Tractor Save the Day??!!

Yep, it finally happened.... I'd been pushing my luck just a little between digging out the duck pond and some new fishing holes in very wet and soft clay so I guess it was bound to happen.. This time I was digging a fishing hole while the old pond is low and got one track completely buried so to make matters worse the Excavator was severely tilted to boot. Watch how this one plays out. This brought back flash backs of this video • Kioti NX6010 Stuck in ... when I got the Tractor stuck in nearly this same exact spot!!! Yes Mrs. Kapper! You both look back and laugh when your fishing there. Went on a wrecker call when I was 16 with my Dad and best friend. Three 2 lane busy highways had to stop by traffic light, right next to accident. Cars were backed up for miles. We winched a car up so we could back down hill and quickly pull out. With car attached we pulled up hill, people every where watching. Dad said it pulling hard. Looked back, car had landed on a storm sewer riser and when we went up steep hill car turned sideways lol. Embarrassed as heck, got. That car winched over off riser and out of there fast. Car was totaled when we got done with it. 😂

When you need to pull yourself out of a spot like that dig a hole maybe 2 to 3 foot deep to give youself something solid to pull against... too late now obviously but maybe for next time. You are not an excavator driver unless you have dug yourself out of being stuck in a hole at least once... lol. One other suggestion, to keep the machine level try to forget you have a blade and cut and fill under your tracks as you move around. Once it becomes a habit it will take no time at all and being thrown around in the seat by an unstable machine will destroy your back long term. Also being level is far better for your machine as it keeps the engine oil in the oil pan around the pump inlet and it creates far less pressure on the slew ring gear and hydraulic motor when are turning from side to side :-)

I'll praise God you had that tractor and the boss lady was home too help get you out of there.... That tractor became a blessing at that point in time didn't it.... Hi Kapper. You could stretch the boom on the excavator across the belts, lift the belt that had sunk into the ground and drove out on the belt that had not sunk while swinging with the boom on the excavator. Have had to do it sometimes my self in soft wet soil.

I tried something similar to that but I think it just didn't have enough power. I did not show everything I tried to get out. It would lift the deeper track up, but engine would bog down. I tried lifting, while engaging the tracks and rotating some and it wanted to go that way (out), but there just wasn't the power... Maybe I need more power!!!! LOL

My dad got his backhoe stuck when he first got it. I extended the boom all the way out and got a bite of dry ground that was bigger than it could dig to pull the backhoe out. He had it buried pretty good, completely bottomed out. A year later he did the same thing in the same spot, but it was so wet, that he had to let it set a few weeks before he could pull it out like I did. Just have to learn how to use the boom and pull/push yourself out of situations like this, or just wait until the surrounding ground gets a little more dry so you can pull yourself out.

10-4. There was simply not enough power to pull out as deep as it was. I've pulled out of like 3 or 4 other ones like this and was able to make it, but this one was just too deep, buried down to the cab frame! Thanks.

LOL, yeah, I did not want to leave this thing over night only to find it sucked down to the cab seat in the pond!!! Worked out well though having the Tractor and help :)

U get more experience u can get out w no help. U gotta make it pull hard an walk tracks at same time. Or pick up 1 end w blade. Other w boom an shove tree or brush under u. It'll walk right out. But u did a fine job getting it out. I been running equipment for long time. Get 1 that weighs 80k stuck it's no fun. I should've been sitting on trees or mats. We live an learn though. Love ur videos man keep em coming

Dave Stinson thanks man yeah I watch and learn as much as I can but sometimes when you're on the spot under stress he just want to get the thing out! I'm definitely going to cut some logs and have them on hand next time

next time you get into that situation, ad you will, while pulling yourself try not to curl the bucket back. just use the stick and boom so the bucket stays vertical. curling the bucket will just cause the dirt to be "dug". just watch your video again while you are doing it, you see the bucket breaking out. give it a little slam down into the ground too. glad you got er out

I totally agree... This was a calculated risk. I have pulled myself out of similar spots like 4 or 5 times now, but this one was the best.... (I mean worst.... ) lol

Damn lucky you didn't throw a track. You might want to give that side that got buried a few extra shots of grease to tighten it up a little. Not sure of the size or rating of that chain, but just saying, your kioti pilot would have taken a nasty shot if it had broken. Please make sure you have a large enough chain on hand for next time. Also a trick I learned from an old timer was to put a weighted burlap bag over the chain or a cable in case it snaps then it will absorb the inertia and keep the cable from taking someone's head off.

Just a short length of chain will do. Just drape it over the wire/rope or chain you are pulling with and it will save a window or a life if it should snap

Good teamwork between you and Mrs. Kapper; you might have been able to get out on your own if you would have sunk your bucket in the lower corner that you slopped out- putting all weight on both tracks; trees are always good as well; if you are going to use this area as a boat launch; better off gravelling and a cement pad so you do not get stuck on the hill depending how much you use it; not a big project to make a pad or you could make a pole slipway for a boat; if you are going to do it now is the time before the water rises to the top of pond; good you were thinking clearly and noticed blade was down; life on the farm reminds me of the John Denver tune "country boy"; all the best

thanks. I suppose maybe a pro could have got out, but there just was not enough horsepower to push or pull that thing out based on how it felt. I've pulled out of 4 or 5 other spots like this so I'm getting a feel for it. Yeah I should do something for the boat launch, but as long as the truck is on good ground and traction, a boat is really light weight. Although I do have some extra gravel yet, maybe I'll put some down in the next few days, it looks like more dry weather :)

Yes I was very fortunate that the queen was home and I had a tractor! LOL I could only imagine leaving it sit overnight to have it sunk all the way down in the muck

Couple logs under the tracks and you wouldnt have sunk down like that another trick is turn to you high side and lift and pull side ways

A friend of ours lived in Fairview Illinois had many acres.They also had 2 strip mine lakes on their property, one right out from back of house and one in the woods.I had a chance years back to buy 125 acres with house and buildings but I changed my mine, wish now I would have bought it.

Keep u a few good size logs to sit on. Something u can grab w thumb. For places like that i mean. Be careful though they get slick fast

From those of us that suggested digging a sweet spot there, sorry about that. But that would have been us there, instead of you. Hoo-Raa!! Why do we always seem to dig ourselves into deep holes ? Just our nature.

If you get stuck like that again turn to the side that you're stuck on and left that side of the track up out of the mud and then put it in gear and drive forward keep that tracked it's stuck in the mud in the air is much as possible and the side that's not stuck will drive out

I tried that, but it just didn't have enough power. When all the weight was down on the good track it just wouldn't move it much, and when it did it spun :( Even to pull it out with the loader it just didn't have the power to pull itself out of the muck.... thanks.

Never hook the chain to the bucket area should of hooked to the tie down point then use the bucket to help yourself out it’s very hard on the cylinders and pins when your yanking on them but good job getting out.
