In the late 90’s, Muscle & Fitness had an article on forearm training featuring Lee Priest. There were two exercises from that article that I have used to grow my forearms. One of them I never see anyone do. Heavy behind the back barbell wrist curls is a staple, and to train the brachioradialis muscle and give your forearms that wide look, you take a dumbbell with weight only on one end, or something like a heavy hammer, short-handled sledgehammer and while holding your arm at your side, palm facing toward you, you swing the dumbbell/hammer like you would a hammer, but the movement is in the wrist, not the whole arm. With dumbbells, this was much easier back the day when you could buy cheap dumbbell sets that had a hollow pipe for the handle, and you would clamp small a small weight one on end. Amazon used to sell a forearm trainer specifically made to put weights on one end with a foam handle on the other side, but apparently it did not sell well, even though it is built to perfection. / I was also studying Bruce Lee’s forearm training at the time. / However, earlier this year, Lee said that he never trained forearms, he just got huge forearms from lifting heavy and in the magazine he only showed the exercises he did to pump up for photo shoots and ones he would do if he had to train them. He stated that it was lifting heavy and his genetics that gave him large forearms. Even two of the women in his family had large forearms. / with those two exercises, I have built thick forearms. But have also focused more on heavy lifting without straps as much as I can.

No such thing as generational genetics. I think our food and water and air is unhealthy, and on top of that these guys were all raised by real men. So they weren't poisoned with plastics and they had absurd mental toughness.

Love Dr. Mikes enthusiasm during this video. I agree to it all. Lee Priest is a genetic wonder, and a beast. To include, Jay Culter was quoted saying Lee Priest was one of the biggest freaks her saw in the gym (Mind Blown).

Love the sweatshirt. I got one a few weeks ago when at Dragons Lair on our vacation. I met Lee in the late 90s when he was the guest poser at a regional competition. The amount of muscle packed on his frame was unfathomable.

Incline dumbbell curls work my full bicep like I have never felt... great tip. Get an aggressive incline and you get a HUGE stretch! Adopted it when trying to get rid of some nasty upper bicep tendinitis that migrated down from my shoulder when that healed... never looked back!

Hi Dr Mike. Great work as usual. Informative and hilarious. A quick request (I am probably the millionth one to ask for it) for the workout training video critique: the Austrian Oak himself. He pretty much much put bodybuilding on the map as a mainstream phenomenon in the 70s and 80s and he is himself a 7 times Olympian. Also I want to see you do an Arnold Schwarzenegger impression. 🙂

I know we talk about cbum as a teenager. But no one ever has looked like lee priest at 16. Even with mountains of steroids. A true freak

Hi Mike. Lee Priest speaks English just like you but with an Australian accent . That's a Scientific observation. Love your content and sense of humour.

I was always a huge fan of Lee. Loved the articles and interviews he gave in his prime. Super honest and a great "don't give a shit" attitude.

I work with this woman who spent years living in England, years living in Australia, and years living in the Southern US... she has the MOST fascinating accent. But she adds that "rrrr" to the end of so many things and we never let her live it down. She also gets a good laugh out of it.
