Is it because he made it relatable? I find most fitness 'influencers' make it look impossible
@user-wn3wv5bx5e
@user-wn3wv5bx5e 7 ай бұрын
@@joe94c I would say probably. Even beginners wouldn't be introduced to this channel no matter how informative it is, simply because the information, even though accurate, can be hard to swallow. I myself had to start out with zumba thinking it'd gain me any muscle. At the very least it built up my endurance and shedded some of my weight. Although I think because of that, it got me more into fitness, and eventually informative fitness. It can be a slowburn for people inexperienced, especially inexperienced people without much time for fitness, but if things turn out well and they continue their fitness journey, then they'll definitely improve.
@graemebland4169
@graemebland4169 7 ай бұрын
@@joe94c I think it was mostly because he had a very similar body to mine. I also had very little muscle and felt like the fitness (or lifting/ bodybuilding/ strongman) space wasn't for people with a physique like mine. I already watched Felix's content quite avidly and seeing someone who resonated so much with me go through such a transformative process was incredible. It allowed me to see the real "before" - let's be honest, we don't get to see the real "before" from most influencers in the space. So yeah, in a way, he made it attainable. And as @user-wn3wv5bx5e said, there's not a huge influencer market for people looking to dip their toes in the space. "Beginner" in the fitness space, particularly the lifting space, typically translates to: "I've been lifting for a year or two and I'm looking for more focused techniques/regimens/ etc"..

The best kind of training is the one you enjoy and can stick to. It might not be the optimal intensity or the bet exercises, but as long as you're consistent and not doing anything that will mess up your joints you'll get results.

@@jonstiffer4994 Yeah this is true. I think a lot of people can train and eat optimally for at least a few years, and probably get some pretty crazy gains doing it, but it takes a special kind of person to maintain that for 5, 10, 15+ years. I prefer to end most workouts feeling like I had more in the tank, rather than destroying myself, because that way even if I'm having a bad day it's much easier to motivate myself to do it.

While we're on the topic of the strangeness that is Swedish, the word for married and poison is the same in Swedish: gift, pronounced "yift" Furthermore, Swedish grammar is an absolute pain in the ass since there are almost as many exceptions as examples for every grammatical rule, if there is even a rule at all, as is the case with our version of a/an. There is literally no rule for it, but you WILL be viewed as a weirdo if you get it wrong.

@3dprinting: Actually, Swedish is one of the easiest languages in the world to learn because the grammar is very easy compared to others. This is the present tense of „walk“ im Swedish for example: Jag går / Du går / Han går / Vi går / Ni går / De går Compared to German: Ich gehe / Du gehst / Er geht / Wir gehen / Ihr geht / Sie gehen Could go on and on 🤓

@@Pile_of_carbonIn old english the gift/gif used to exist, up until they decided to borrow "mariage" from french. But the gift/gift actually has a reason, germans. "Gift" in the sense of poison was originally an euphemism, basically in the sense of "something malicious was gifted" "Gift" in the sense of marriage is "gifted at a bride". Just that both forms has been around for a bit more than a millenia. This was today's random knowledge.

I’ve got to say. I found this channel a few weeks ago. Working out has always been so difficult for me and one of the reasons was it can be so overwhelming to figure out what to do and what works out which muscle. But your content is not only entertaining but also informative. You give objective analysis and just SAY what is good and what is bad. What is myth and what is reality. That demystified working out for me and now I’m on my third week in a row of doing 3-4 workouts a week. I’m already noticing some small muscle growth and I’ve made a workout tracker to keep me on track for the next six weeks. So thank you for helping me take the first REAL steps toward losing weight and getting healthy. Although I still have a long way to go and my goal is not to be big, just healthy, I’m more confident than I’ve ever been that I can do it. So thanks Dr. Mike. Truthfully.

Ironically hypertrophy needs less equipment than increasing total strength. If your goal is to get the strongest possible legs the dumbells quickly run into a problem of being very annoying to rack for heavy ATG heel elevated front squats. Even from just the floor, the barbell ends up being easier to rack for this.
@aca347
@aca347 9 ай бұрын
I've been working out for a year and I don't have access to a gym all the time. A pair of dumbbells is really all you need if you want to shape up your physique. Maybe as you get more advanced get a pull up bar and some resistance bands but beyond that you really don't need anything else. You don't even need a lot of weight on the dumbbells either. There are plenty of techniques and form changes you can do to make an exercise more difficult with the same weight. Hell, plenty of people built really good-looking bodies with bodyweight exercises alone. "I don't have the equipment at home and the gyms are far away and expensive" is an excuse.

@@Ryan-gb3ik okay thanks for correcting me… sorry that I don’t know the legal details in regards to pewdiepie’s unique gaming chair he sells. Because of the way pewd’s would always make sure to mention it (aka market it) each KZbin video, I just figured that pewd’s owned the company selling the gaming chairs so that he was making maximal profit from each gaming chair sale. I guess whatever his contract is with the gaming chair company that’s making/selling his unique gaming chair design + pewdiepie’s brand / KZbin persona, it basically must be way too expensive to try to start a gaming chair company from scratch, so after punching in the numbers, he figured out it would be way to much work / way to expensive to do it all by himself from scratch. So he partnered with clutch chairz for the project, as they already have all the infrastructure set up and ready to go, only needing to input the chairs pewdiepie graphics, and tweak the desigh so it can recline all the way to flat / 180 degrees. All that stuff is besides the point though, because it doesn’t matter if pewds started a chair brand from scratch or if he collaborated with an existing chair brand to create a unique pewdiepie branded gaming chair… at the end of the day, pewds does have a unique gaming chair piece of merchandise he can advertise and sell.

Some context on the pewds. The reason for the dumbbell only setup is cause Felix tries, to a point, to be minimalist. On top of that he was waiting to move to Japan, but borders were closed due to covid, so he didn't want to keep buying stuff when eventually he was going to move. Now that he has moved, his setup isn't much bigger, he has a bench, dumbbells and a power rack(?) for some barbell work and pull-ups. For gfuel, it's probably his biggest sponsor and it's a powder energy (140mg caffeine*)(supplement, so big *). Usually it's pretty clear that he's joking when he makes inane claims, like you can't say "you will win 1 million dollars", but you can say "you might win 1 million dollars" and give away nothing, because then it's a statement of chance, not necessarily of a giveaway. So usually I expect he'd say "drink gfuel and you might get 10% muscle growth" while making a face that makes it pretty clear he's joking, or saying something before or after that shows he's about to or just made a joke. But honestly I watch him enough and turn off my brain when sponsors are mentioned so I wouldn't register it if he didn't do it. All the bias. Either way, finally a workout reaction to someone I follow, so figured I'd chime in, haha.
