Yes. Thank you so very much Dr I do this exact thing. Plus I'm teaching myself to walk without hiking my leg to the side. I never focused on Quality Movement I just wanted to get back walking as quick as possible. Now I walk with my leg swinging out. I'm 21 months post stroke. Your videos really help me. Thank you again.

Awesome Dr. Tobias! I found this video very helpful. Especially retaining balance while I move my head. This is good for my mom whom is getting older. She has no balance problems but these exercises will ensure her to keep her balance in check for the rest of her life. Thank you and have a great week.

As always, thanks for the video. I’ve added these to my list to try this week. My balance has always been decent (though crossing midline isn’t easy); I know some of these will be a real test. Thanks! 😎

Love your channel, my patients benefit a lot from balance exercises. What is your opinion on Berg's Balance Scale as a measurement for balance?
@rehabhqofficial2 жыл бұрын
The only use for this test is to predict fall risk. Beyond that it doesn't really "assess" balance. That said, I often use some of the finding from that test when designing a plan of care for someone who has a balance impairment. I hope that makes sense.

@@rehabhqofficial Absolutely! Thanks for your input. I love how the components in BBS can give us a good idea of where the patient is lacking in terms of balance. What would you suggest for accessing balance then?

Thank you for all of your informational videos. I have a question and maybe you have some exercises. Can move quickly through cones, ladders, etc laterally. Also backwards. Can not skip, jog or sprint forward before pitching forward. Chiari, IIH and right sided tbi -(parital) history. Been working in the swimming pool to maybe connect the brain and leg movement. Any thoughts ? Other neuro-physical therapists have no answers.

Thanks for the question! Sounds like a rhythm issue. Meaning difficulty coordinating hip, knee, and ankle muscles together with the appropriate timing. I have done a couple of videos on this. One to look for are "push off", "return to running", and one I did recently on "relearning how to hop, skip and jump :) . All that said, given this might be an issue with rhythm, I personally do not think practicing in the pool is helpful as the bouncy of the water will not allow you to practice appropriate timing under the influence of gravity. I hope that helps!

Super video. Though, I’m really tired of you picking on my deficits and adding more exercises to my list 😉kidding of course. I tried the pivot turns with sliders and paper plates 👍 Question: on the tandem walk, how close do the feet have to be? Heel touching toe or just close and in a straight line? Thank you
@rehabhqofficial2 жыл бұрын
Hi Liz! Good thing is I know you are good at prioritizing 😊 technically speaking, to get a perfect score on the standardized test I mentioned, toe touching heel in a straight line. If someone can’t do that, I usually recommend a slightly wider base (heel close to the big toe) but still keep step size small. I hope that helps!
