I'm an American who has been to Istanbul twice, most recently this past May (2024) with my mother. I loved it so much the first time that I brought her with me this time. In five days we comfortably saw 1) the Theodosius cistern 2) the Sulimaniye Mosque 3) the Grand Bazaar 4) a whirling dervish show 5) the Hagia Sophia 6) the Galata Tower 7) St Anthony's Catholic Church for mass 8) the Blue Mosque 9) a Bosphorus boat toour 10) breakfast on the Galata Bridge 11) the Topkapi Palace 12) the Basilica Cistern 13) the modern Camlica Tower and dinner in the upper floor restaurant 14) the Theodosian Walls 15) the Valens Aqueduct - And we had plenty of time for shopping and simply enjoying the atmosphere. An AMAZING city

How did you get around ? By train or taxi ?
@markheithaus4 ай бұрын
@@CookietheYorkie so both times I was there I stayed in a hotel not far from the Theodosian cistern, and MAYBE a 10-minute walk (if that) to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. So in that area it's not hard to get to most of the hot spots quickly by foot (Topkapi Palace, the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, Basilica Cistern....). Beyond that we just got the Istanbul transit cards for the tram, Metro and ferries to the Asian side. To get to the Theodosian Walls we took a 5 or 10 Uber. - Use Uber. Definitely use Uber. UBER! 😆 But seriously, Uber is dependable and cheap, and the yellow taxis are the only ones that participate on Uber. So instead of just hailing a random taxi, you are "Ubering" a taxi add a predetermined price. Easy. So easy. The tram is very easy because it only goes two ways and it's out in the open with multiple stops. It's easy to take the tram down to the Galata bridge. It's simple and all the way to the Galata Tower. Get yourself that card. In my opinion, for such a big city, it is very easy to get around. Shockingly so.
@CookietheYorkie4 ай бұрын
