Re-covering that fungi so it doesn't dry out was wise. One benefit of the chipper/shredder- reduce particle size accompanied by increased surface area for microbial activity. 💪🏻👍

A company called AEA advancing eco ap has a crop digestive bacteria that is very effective in breaking down carbon materials. Also they have soil primer that effective. You can feed fungi with starches such as Potatoe water. Spray these when soil is moist then cover with a tarp for a couple of weeks. John S.

Wow, fantastic idea. I have literally the exact same shredder as you (although mine has a tecumseh engine) and have never thought about using it in that manner. I've used it primarily for small sticks and twigs after I cut a tree down (and annual christmas tree breakdown) and leaves for the compost. Never thought of actual throwing my compost pile through that first! What a good idea! This was 2 years ago so how did this help? Good results?

Nice work, when you have some time you may find Mark's channel "I am organic gardening" useful. He works with BTE and improves it. The main idea is to have the living roots in the ground. Therefore for the winter time the best is to plant winter rye which is to be terminated before planting your vegetables. Also legumes out od winter season do a lot of good to the soil. Greetings from Poland!

If you really want to speed it up put chickens in there during the winter. The light scratching and manure will do wonders for the soil.

I agree! I add chicken manure to my garden in the fall and have contemplated putting them in there but we’ve had a resident bobcat hanging around soooo...
