Randy is awesome. He sounds and looks like Hendrix more than anyone. But you aren’t looking at this properly: these are all artists playing here that have made a musical career playing their own songs. Hendrix’s may have been an influence for these players, but they didn’t make an entire career out of imitating Hendrix. Hanson SHOULD sound more like Hendrix than any of these guys, because he has spent his entire life doing a Hendrix tribute show.

Watching this you realize how great Hendrix was! Not one of these very top tier talented acts comes close the vibe, raw energy, swagger and his pure artistry. That's how innovative and original he was! Great songwriter, sonically innovative, soulful vocals ,incredible guitar player, killer rhythm player. The guitar was an extension of his body, mind and soul. One of kind!

@@williamb.8059 Hendrix was a black man B4 ANYTHING, and having more of that black presence in his music, at "Experience Hendrix" is VERY important. His music is Desired by all, but 2 say Jimi's music was not about race is BS because Jimi himself wanted more black folk in the audience, and even tried 2 do benefit gigs 4 the Black Panthers.

Perhaps due to the proximity of the guitar box, more in Master Taj Mahal's performance, the vocals were affected! But, it was worth it for the historical record! Very good! Jimi is alive and well!

I agree, Taj’s vocals were particularly quiet, and I think you are correct, there are some drawbacks to being right at the edge of the stage, like amp placement. It was a dream to see a legend play though. Rock on!

Hendrix wasn't just about him though Noel Redding and especially Mitch Mitchell helped give him his sound. Mitchell used to go off and here the rhythm section was holding back, just my take!

Yeah, sound usually sucks up close, there was a speaker right next to my face. I enjoy both views but couldn't pass up a chance to see so many great guitarists up close. Glad you got to see the show in person, rock on!

Eric's own strats have hotter pickups. As great as it is to see Jimi's real Woodstock strat, the tone is better out of his. I love watching Eric get into it, blows everybody off the stage.

Years ago they had Mitch Mitchell, Chas Chandler, Billy Cox as support band for everyone including Randy Hansen on guitar for last set. Amazing. Wow the lack of preparation on some of this is unforgivable.Felt bad for Eric Johnson, but why not at least work stuff out before, or just not do it at all rather than trying to sing a song you cannot remember? Nothing more annoying than people in audience who wont shut the heck up the whole time.
