Converted to barefoot a year ago - will never go back to regular shoes. In large part due to this podcast, so thank you guys! Something I don't think is emphasized nearly enough, for running, and is now what I believe to be the most important part when transitioning, is STRIDE. I injured my achilles tendon pretty bad because of this. I was over striding, landing on the balls of my feet for many months running. You must land with your feet under your hips (not out in front like I thought was okay), land on your full foot, allowing your heel to touch the ground, and increase your cadence. The book "Older Yet Faster" goes over this in the best detail I've seen and even has videos to help explain it all. For anyone looking to transition to barefoot, I cannot emphasize this enough. Do not ignore or you will be very sorry.

Spent most of my life avoiding wearing shoes. Now I can’t wear regular shoes because of how painfully they crush my toes. Been wearing wide toe boxes for years. Last few years with obesity putting too much pressure on my feet I was constantly wearing shoes. You guys have inspired me to lose weight and get stronger. Now that I have lost around 50 pounds im going around barefoot again. Then I got inspired by this episode and I picked up some barefoot shoes. You guys popped up in my feed just when I needed it. Thanks.

Like many of us I used to think the stiffer the shoe, the more lift & cushion, the better the shoe. Then I started noticing more people squatting barefoot? Then my son's wrestling coach encouraged them to do Vibram 5 fingers. I've gone to Vibram 5 fingers and Xero shoes. Greatest thing I did for my foundation. It took some time to get used to. This is a GREAT compilation of shows. Many I've seen, some I've not. Thanks to you guys I'm 100% minalmist shoe guy now. Work (office and flight line), training, walking, etc. My feet may have never been this strong (thanks to sled push/pull, tib raises, shoes). Now I just need a pair of dress shoes and umpire shoes. I kinda hate "normal" shoes now

I have had vivos for a while now but only recently started using them everyday, wherever I go. I even jog some in these shoes as well. My heel pain is gone and feet don't feel tight anymore.

@@just_the_messenger i healstrike all the time.. has some advantages with stride length.. but it puts more force through the foot.. or .. well.. depending on the surface there are reasons to not do it.. like shorten the stride length.. lean foreward through the ankle(the feet ), and not the upper body or knees.. .and then u have lesser impact on your other things... it depends.. surface, and how u are adopted... i belive u should be able to do both.. and for normal running, exept uphil, its the best.. thou for track and field and its fast changes.. if u are leaning the right way and are on your toes or forefoot and that aria, there is something to be saied to never go touch the field with the back of it, unless your breaking or using it to redirect or slow down.. or stand... but then again its more stress, so the forefoot strike untill u hit the ground with the back of the foot... for running marathons.. but what if u have softer surfaces.. or are more used to healstriking, or downhill....

bottom line, there are options and viewpoints... so its not that clear... nowadays, many belives exist.. but using the healstrike for walking works fine.. unless u are to weak and not adopted... espetialy for walking... unless i have a shopping cart, i use healstriking... couse i shorten my stride length, in order to not bump into the shopping cart... or what about uphill stuff...

The slower the horizontal velocity of movement, the further back on the foot you’ll strike. The faster, the farther forward up to the ball of the foot. As long as your foot isn’t smashing forward into the ground at the point of impact, you’ll be good. Where people go wrong is they equate heal striking with the heel smashing forward into the ground. Set it down & back onto the ground, matching the speed of the ground going under you.

you should get chong xie on. hes one of the s&c coaches for zhang weili and like most of these fitness specialists he kind of hyper fixates on one thing, but he has a lot of interesting thoughts and results related to foot and ankle function

I bought a toe separator and it changed my foot health almost drastically. My feet and legs would become unbearable. I couldn't even squat with my feet flat on the ground. I wear them literally all day now.

11:55 it was by Design. Literally everything out their functions by Design. There's no way anything would have survived to pass on code without having been designed to do so. I mean Google says our shoulders evolved from our oblique muscles but how in the world did we feed ourselves if we couldn't raise our arms? How would the body know we need teeth and saliva in bacteria in our guts to even utilize the nutrients? Because it was done by Design
