We put on shoes one day and never took them off. Our shoes became narrower, the heels elevated and our feet paid the price for it all. Graham Tuttle, aka The Barefoot Sprinter, educates us on how and why traditional shoes are bad for us, why "jogging" and the commercialization of running has hurt us and most importantly, why going barefoot can help us with are ailments.

Mark and Nsima, I’m new to the channel and instantly became addicted. I never even liked podcasts and didn’t understand why everyone liked them. But for some reason this podcast is so special to me. You guys help me make better decisions everyday in my life whether it to go a little harder in my workouts, try something new, keep making good decisions with my diet. When you guys did the podcast with the cold plunge dude and Mark was saying “I’m not trying to be competitive and beat everybody, I just don’t want to be a loser” I wrote that down and kept it in my wallet. Im currently trying to lose weight, I was 246 pounds in July 2021 and im down to 205 and sometimes it’s a real fucking grind and I wanna quit but you guys really keep me inspired and keep me going. I know you probably hear that a lot and are used to it but from the bottom of my heart, I love you guys like you are my friends.

The algorithm has classified Graham and I in the same cluster. I can’t believe he said “dialogos” and talked about the walled garden. I have been wearing barefoot shoes for 18 months now. Not a coincidence, you are brought along on thoughts by the type of person you are.

Graham reminds me of that Nietzsche quote “Anyone with a why to live can bear nearly any how.” When he talks about his experiences with psychedelics. Good for him.

I am enjoying sprinting basically barefoot (Vibram KSO EVO with 3 mm sole) often on asphalt roads… toughens your feet up. It’s more fun on grass. On asphalt or concrete you definetly need a perfect movement pattern, otherwise you can destroy a lot of tissue. He is spot on, sprinting gives you life and athleticism. It improves metabolism instead of slowing it down, like jogging and the other slow crap does. I hate it to run slower than 10 miles per hour. And I love everything above 15 mph. Never too late to learn how to move. I am 55, started Running with 53 years and made everything wrong, went through all the typical destruction. like 95% of the runners do. Wrong Shoes, narrow toe boxes, slow running and all the other crap… barefoot alone won’t save you. You need to understand how to take advantage of the natural bows and spirals that generate and store energy in your spine, muscles and ligaments. If you move correctly there is No pain, no destruction. Just fun. You don’t even need to stretch, if you move correctly. GOATA has changed everything for me. Meanwhile I do even my deadlifts IABH. No normal squats anymore. Only bow squats, etc…

Solid podcast overall. It’s nice how well you guys do at letting your guests actually speak!! That being said.. the man went so fast😂 slow it down a little ! Also, speaks a lot of absolutes.. which are really just his own opinions.

i personally like it when people state their opinions directly like this. if you find something to be true, say it as such. you don't need a placebo controlled double blind study to be able to say something assertively. now if you think there's a significant risk if you are wrong, or there are some large questions left unanswered about your belief, than disclose that skepticism alongside your opinion.

I probably have the flattest feet on earth lol. I wish I had focused more on foot function and strength in my college football career. I agree with how bad cleats can be. In retro spec that was a main cause for my knee pain and poor running posture in long distances.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
