Love the visuals! I just got an XH2 I liked your photos a lot I wanted to hear your perspective so I didn’t realize that with a lot of the older models that the photos actually look very too dimensional and they don’t really have that like micro contrast that Leica does Do you feel like this kind of help get really nice depth in the photos and also micro contrast I will say that I do feel like the xh2 so far is showing that they definitely stepped up the game and the photos feel more of like a pop. Perhaps that has to do more with the crops or Lena’s

The Sigma 23mm F/1.4 DC DN is great at half the price. For the same money as the Fuji XF 23mm F/1.4 R WR you can get the Sigma 23mm and the Sigma 56mm.... Love both those lenses, but the X100VI is hard to not use for everything

True story! And they perform almost the same. As for the 100VI, Id rather use the 27mm pancake on my xt5.

There is a level between them in quality, be it sharpness, flaring, minimum focus, AF speed and bokeh/fringing, the Fuji is a step better in every aspect, plus has a superior build with an aperture ring and weather sealing. The Sigma is still good, but the price difference is very justified, the Fuji 23 is probably the best APSC lens out there with the 18mm f1.4. Also, once you keep your eyes out for cashback deals, the price gap narrows. The Sigma is €549, the Fuji was €595 during a summer cashback deal in Germany. I agree, the full price of €820+ is a lot of money, no matter the quality, but once you get closer to €600 it's unbeatable.

This isn't me having a go, just filling out details :) Having tested extensively both lenses (and the original XF23mm) the New Fuji is better than the Sigma, but only just and certainly not enough to justify twice the price, but the Sigma is far better in everyway compared to the original Fuji lens As a professional when buying anything I ask will it make me more money or save me money, f it does neither then I won't buy it. (the exception being the X100 VI) No client has ever complained that the Sigma is not good enough (or even cares what camera/lens was used) they care about how the final image is composed, the colours, how it makes them feel. When a final image is delivered no client gets out a magnifying glass and looks at the print and asks would it be sharper if I'd used the XF23mm instead. On the walls of my studio, I have prints from multiple camera systems, different lens, and the printed images are viewed at 16" x 12" you would struggle to tell me which images were taking using a Full frame or APS-C, which were taking with a Sigma lens, which with a Fuji lens. One thing I can say, is all current Fuji APS-C cameras produce much better photos than the medium format film cameras with decade old lenses developed in the darkroom. "Enthusiasts" with disposable income buy better gear than professionals, this isn't just photo related it translates across professions. When you don't have to balance the books it doesn't matter what you buy. You can't charge more money because your gear costs more, a client doesn't care. If you do a photo shoot on your 10 year old equipment, and client is happy and pays the bill, when they come back for another shoot, you tell them because i got a new camera and lens which is better, my price has gone up. They will tell you they don't care, they were happy with the results you previously gave them.

@@9Mtikcus Not doubting that, I'm sure most clients don't see a difference, I'm not delivering to clients, it's a hobby experience for me and the build quality, aperture ring and creative IQ including bokeh and flaring matter more. In the end, you can spin the "clients don't see the difference" argument forever and also take the very capable new €150 Viltrox 56 f1.7 and argue clients don't see a difference between that and the Sigma 56 f1.4 which costs three times the money. My point was the Fuji 23 is an outstanding lens (not all expensive Fuji lenses are) that is considerably better in many areas and once you are looking for cashback deals, the price difference is really negligible, especially considering the lens delivers images for many years, if not a decade, and has a high resell value. Comparing €550 to €850, sure I'd go for the Sigma. Comparing €550 to €600, the Fuji is the obvious choice. Even if the optics weren't superior at all, just the design, build quality, weather sealing and aperture ring would be worth more than €50 for me.

Isn’t this lens a 35mm equivalent?!
@DanielBryn3 ай бұрын
You are 100% right. I was trying to be funny calling it a nifty 35. Defaultet right to calling it nifty fifty. Thanks for pointing this out!
