In our previous video, we checked out old Manila. We were overwhelmed with comments and suggestions to go and check out BGC, which is modern Manila. In this video, we do just that! We walk around the BGC and check out multiple sites. We visit some restaurants, walk the streets to spot some street art, check out the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, and Venice Grand Canal Mall. @@anjaplushenka5995 they just hit and run. Eg they do not know what they are eating. Food is a culture in asia and we take our food culture seriously. It is offensive not to know what you are eating. After eating it, these vloggers asked the locals to tell them what they have just eaten and what it is made of. Come on, we should know what to order and eat before putting into our body. We now have google right. But thankfully not all vloggers do that, only a few. Some hired local food guides which is a clever method to do a food mukbang.

I suggest when eating Filipino food, always order rice, it's the equivalent of having potatoes or bread w your meals. You'd also be given dips and sauces to adjust your food to your taste. Bagoong is a very pungent shrimp paste and used sparingly to enhance flavor to your meal.

Why do you sound like you are giving advice to aliens who just landed in planet earth. The entire civilize world knows how rich is eaten. There are chinatowns everywhere in the west and 97% of travelers has heard of Bangkok and Hanoi. They dont need to put rice in their mouth in eating Filipino food. Because some cultures do not need carbs to appreciate a dish. Fact is, rich is only eaten because it is the cheapest way to fill the tummy.

I was just there at the American Cemetery and Memorial last Saturday, June the 2nd around lunch time before I flew back. The area is so well maintained and there was a tour going on while I was there. The tour guide was free and there were a handful of Americans, Chinese, Indians and Malaysians in a tour group. I came on my own and the guards were so accommodating and friendly.

BGC = TORONTO YOUNGE ST I walked in slum part of Manila - stayed for 3 weeks - not a single time I felt unsafe. I probably safe in Manila than walking any inner cities in north America that include Vancouver n Toronto. Manila are getting bad raps and misconception being dangerous 😳 SORRY ITS NOT!!

Yeah like what most commenters suggested here you need to eat the main dish with rice to balance the over powering taste. Try eating the meal the Filipino way. You came here just when the rainy season starts usually June to February. You can do more outdoors during summertime which is March to May. If you are young at heart try the theme parks, Star City and Enchanted Kingdom. You can also do indoor Trampoline parks or the Art in Island 3D Museum.Try Twin Lakes, Tagaytay or the Crosswind area you will love the weather there and the view of the smallest active volcano in the world on a lake. You can try the Bulalo with rice, enjoy lunch while enjoying the view. Make sure to go to a restaurant with a view of the Taal Volcano.

Support from a Canadian-Filipino. Thanks for featuring BGC. I miss this place. There's nothing like Tim Hortons! Try to get hotels that offers 24 hrs security and near the malls to be safe strolling around. Don't book on hotels within residential areas if you would like to go out in the evening. Locals are friendly and welcoming. Most areas are safe. Just be careful with your valuables all the time.

Wherever you go in the world, if you are looking for trouble you will get it. Even in poverty stricken areas in Manila, one would be uncomfortable, but People should get out of this "is it safe" mentality. You would find that people in these areas are the most friendly and the happiest people around even though they have so little. In the US alone there have been mass shootings every month. Compared to Western countries, Manila is so much safer. You looked at a certain areas in Manila, and you already concluded that it is not safe without even experiencing and interacting with people. Keep an open mind, interact with people and experience how friendly and hospitable Filipinos are.

Sampaloc is a residential district, very local but SAFE. It may not look safe because it's generally rundown. :) The Philippines is 100 times safer than the US, that's for sure. I'll be visiting it in a few weeks time. Take care and enjoy the country.

Walking is good exercise. They taught us eaten too besides ate. I like spreading some ketchup on my eggplant torta. My hat's off to you if you can eat the bagoong or shrimp paste, it's an acquired taste. It's rainy season right now so expect some late afternoon thunderstorms. Good idea to bring an umbrella. You can use it as a self-defense weapon too just in case. Tim Horton's is the real Canadian bacon in the Philippines.

Most recent vloggers who visited PHL, goes to venice bgc and intramuros , nothing wrong with that. BUT , a place to visit , which some mentions here and to other vloggers , but failed to , is Las Casas Azucar in Bataan. Just north of Manila , 2 hrs thru NLEX / SCTEX. ITS WORTHY TO VISIT , TRUE FILIPINOS ANCESTRAL HOMES .

GUYS! TOO EXPENSIVE! 😀 The eggplant dish is about P30 in a local eatery then maybe P200 the most for that ginataang pusit dish in a fancier “local” restaurant. Remember also that RICE is a staple here so dishes are a bit more salty and flavorful because they’re meant to be eaten with a spoonful of rice in every bite. Enjoy the Philippines! Ask and talk to people. They’d be very helpful.

I live in Sampaloc, though not as glamorous and as clean as BGC , I would say it's still a safe place to stay, probably much safer than in the Bronx , USA. Normally, people in general won't attack or do something to you if you don't provoke and attract too much attention. I'm proud to be Batang Sampaloc.

Manila American Cemetery has house rules, one of which is to wear appropriate attire. After all, it is the resting place of 56,000 service members who died in the Pacific during World War 2. FUN FACT THERE ARE CANADIANS BURIED AND MEMORIALIZED IN THE CEMETERY. Should've asked the guides there, and they could've toured you for free!

Checkout Quezon City specifically Cubao Expo. Not many vloggers actually get to vlog there but it's really cool spot for foodies and if you're looking for vintage items.
