As a fan of Gibson's trilogy, this excites me greatly! And the system seems so flexible and streamlined. My tabletop RPG group just recently started trying out Shadowrun, and it's far more complicated than we're used to (we usually play D&D). I think I'm going to suggest trying The Sprawl out to the other members of my group. Even though none of them have read the books, they might still appreciate the lore and enjoy the game's system.

I was really curious about this rpg already so I’m really glad that you covered it lol

I'm glad some people enjoyed this. Exploring RPGs won't likely be a regular thing, but they might crop up here and there when the mood strikes. If you want to check out the full rules for The Sprawl, they're available at DrivethruRPG: www.drivethrurpg.com/product/171286/The-Sprawl----MIDNIGHT

Cheers for posting this stuff dude. I suspect our interests are fairly aligned and so it's great to discover new stuff week after week. I'm a big fan of the brief yet detailed hybrid summary style you have a knack for. As always, keep 'em coming! Have you heard of 'The Campaign For North Africa' board game? It's looks insane but i'be found no footage of anyone playing it. Perhaps explore that =]

Mike Sloan I have heard of it, but unfortunately I don't have 10,000 hours of free time.

Thanks for this! I can't find enough content about The Sprawl online yet, and this is one of the best intros to the game out there! Plus, it looks like I'll enjoy your channel, based on the suggested videos youtube is suggesting.

OMG title said the Sprawl and I was 100% hoping this was a Neuromancer/Mona Lisa Overdrive Exploring Series. Have you ever read those? William Gibson's finest! Also Snow Crash, but that's not Gibson - it's Stephenson (and it's the only Stephenson novel I liked... skull guns are DUMB.)

I'm not big on Tabletop RPGs, or things that involve being physically near other people. How's the lore with this. Any good books / series involved with it?
@Anhero645 жыл бұрын
neuromancer, count zero, and mona lisa overdrive are referred to as the sprawl trilogy, and what this rpg is based on.
@TheSummoner867 жыл бұрын
I liked it, but the rules were not my favorite part, only bc rules change over time. the rules made it feel like a seminar. Though the lore was epic as always.
@Th3AlphaG33K7 жыл бұрын
Alot of that is because The Sprawl is setting neutral. It only realy assumes genre.
@cloudbennettanthonyty5017 жыл бұрын
Is this based on Shadowrun?
@fritzmcgillacuddy22407 жыл бұрын
It's probably based on William Gibson's "Sprawl Trilogy". Most stuff like this is.
@LuanMunizTeixeira7 жыл бұрын
Shadowrun is based on The Sprawl Trilogy
@Dampfish7 жыл бұрын
I think that saying Shadowrun is "based on" Gibsons books is being a bit obtuse. Gibson certainly inspired a lot of it, but even from the start Shadowrun was so much more than that.
@Th3AlphaG33K7 жыл бұрын
I agree, that's much like saying all fantasy role playing games are "Based On" the Tolkien legrndarium. The Sprawl trilogy was ground breaking and genre defining, so all cyberpunk media owes it a debt. But "Based On" is a bit insulting to tge creativity of the Shadowrun setting
