So azathoth is the computer simulating our universe. Yog Sothoth is the computer's or simulation's AI. and nyarlathotep is the kid at the keyboard that plays in the simulation
@McFasty39248 жыл бұрын
Perhaps, cool idea dude. I Like to think that It's actually all Nyarlathotep. It's just him, walking the earth like Randall Flagg in Stephen kings universe. Nyarlathotep seems to be sufficient in power to achieve this too, he could literally have invented other entities for people to fixate on, thus drawing attention away from himself so he can manipulate even more effectively, with confusion and chaos =]
@unitybonez8 жыл бұрын
I'm writing a book elaborating upon this theory and linking the mythos to real archeological sites... I've written few articles on the subject, but they are in Italian, so this is a summary: Azathoth is the primal chaos, the lesser gods channel his energy via sound, generating our holo-reality. Yog Sothoth is the ether, as in EM field, and is what's known as the akashic fields.....for the rest wait for the book. lol

I don't care too much for any of the old ones made up after Lovecraft. They are made to be specifically horrifying to humans in general and their descriptions are far too specific. Lovecraft meant for the Old Ones to be unknowably horrifying, to be so distinctfully different from humanity that they can't be properly registered by the human senses and psyche. All of the Old Ones made up after Lovecraft and super evil abominations that just hate the hell out of humans because reasons, indistinguishable from a boring old demon or folk monsters. Lovecraft's creations were supposed to be unknowable things that are amoral forces of nature which barely register humans at all, like smaller versions of the Outer Gods. Only Nyarlothotep was actually evil. Yet he wasn't evil towards humanity for any actual reason, such as for power or some form of cosmic capital like the Old Ones that came after Lovecraft were after, but because he was dick.

Honestly I think he was a perfect product of his time. His era was one of impending globalisation, but before any modern instant communication. His work perfectly encapsulated the paranoia of a shrinking world, but one where it's participants had no idea what to expect, fear of the unknown was a very real concept that was hard to ignore. I don't think any modern writer could write the same kind of horror he did, not to the same effect anyway.

You know Im sure the guy who created berserk took inspiration from Lovecraft and also dark souls the game takes heavy inspiration from both berserk and Lovecraft. The cthulu mythos started in like the 1920s 30s, berserk was then released around the 80's and dark souls or from software was last to come, making a good few first person action fantasy rpgs in the 90's to 2000's. Each game after the last progressively became more darker until demon souls. Taking tidbits of material from berserk universe. The berserk creator would've definetly known about hp lovecrafts work and probably magpied some design ideas for monsters. Or maybe even things that were based on hp lovecrafts work already. From cthulu came berserk then dark souls and bloodborne which I would consider all a tiny part of the same genre
