this is one of the most functional designs I have seen. I hope all goes well.

You could put a nice molded G shape gutter/pipe around the window edge allowing excess rain that rolls up the window to be caught in the pipe and filter down to the ground keeping you that little bit more dry.

Hi Tig, one question I don't think I've asked you is about the feasibility of using a bicycle trailer on the back of the Electrom. Is this type of use something that can be easily accomodated by the Electrom, or do you recommend against this and if so, why? Thanks! Brian.
@electrom_LEV Жыл бұрын
Hi Brian, the Electrom is designed to accommodate a bike trailer and it works quite well.

very interesting design. I'd like to see something like this on an emotorcycle. None of the modern ebikes seems to properly address aerodynamics, despite how much it would improve performance.

thanks. Have you checked out the latest version? you can see it at www.electrom.ca. We are working on offering the Electrom as a moped, which would allow for higher power and speeds.

What can we do after it reaches 300km range? Can we use it as a normal bicycle without the motor assistance?
@electrom_LEV3 жыл бұрын
Not really. The Electrom is more like an electric vehicle that you can pedal than a bike with electric assist. But consider that 300 kilometers at at 32 kilometers per hour it would take 9 hours. At that point you would probably be ready to stop rididng for the day anyway. The new bike has a maximum range of 400 kilometers with two extra batteries.

Yea that's neat be really good with a large r battery or small gas engime

Look at the shape of the trailing edge of the fairing.... Its leading air downward into your chest and into the (too big) tail. ie: Air that should be heading over your shoulders and the tails is being induced to 'crash' into them... It will also induc a small amount of lift on/off the front wheel. IMHO you need to blow a fairing better suited to the design, rather than buy out what's available. That's easily tested temporarily changing the downward sloping rear part with a stuck on piece of plastic sheet cut to a suitable shape. Tail: You're trying to DECREASE frontal area. A tail that is broader and taller than your shoulders /torso makes about as much sense as a one armed boxer with an itchy arse! :) A smaller, skinnier tail would also make the thing look better.

With all the design you are putting in on the Electrom, would it be possible to steep the power up a bit to be considered an electric recumbent moped design. Electric mopeds are governed to 50 kph in Australia and are riden on motor car licence. A pedal assisted e-moped capbable of ding 50kph would be .....
@electrom_LEV6 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, thanks for your support. I agree with your assessment about running the Electrom as a Moped. There are many jurisdictions where registering the Electrom as a Moped would make a lot of sense, allowing for higher top speeds and more power for hill climbing. The Electrom can easily go 50 kph, in fact in order for it be qualify as an e bike here in Canada it has to be electronically governed down to 32 kph. As it will be sold in a kit format, the purchaser will be able to specify the controller power and desired top speed. The process of registering the Electrom as a Moped could be difficult, so buyers should do their research on their local regulations and registration process before purchase.

This thing is really blurring the line between electric bicycle and electric motorcycle. I would probably consider this to be an electric moped. These actually make me more excited than electric cars. I kinda wish the passenger seat had a back rest option just so the passenger can feel a bit more comfortable they won't fall off the back.
@electrom_LEV2 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks. We did consider a backrest, but it seems unnecessary as the passenger is quite secure as it is. Also we found that a backrest makes getting on the bike award for the passenger.

Hi There, The Electrom will sell for between $6,000 and $8,000. It has been designed to be as reliable as possible, using direct drive hub motors and generator. The prototype has been on the road for over three years now with 8000 kilometers and no breakdowns. Where are you located?
