The reason the workers speak little English is that they are from villages nearby. They formed working groups. This is an excellent idea to help the villagers.

Sir I suggested that you should visit prasat Vat Phu in Champasak which is the province of Laos. This one of the beautiful Khmer temple in laos. You'll feel the same in Siem Reap, Cambodia :D

That place was ruined years ago. it was once a beautiful sleepy nothing village until the foreigners came. Much of Thailand has been ruined by mass tourism . If its listed in the Lonely Planet you could not pay me enough to go to these places. i speak Thai and Lao so am able to get as far away from other foreigners as possible. Vang Vieng in my opinion is now a over priced dump. It is the Pai of Laos. 20,000 kip for water??? You got screwed !
