I'm only 7 minutes into the video and I aspire to be like Raine-kun. I'd love to be an anomalous shadow entity with a white smiling face that only screams, makes odd sounds, and turns its RTX on in response to anyone trying to talk to it. I'd also like to be in a friend group of completely normal people who understand my sounds like words, sorta like how everyone understands R2-D2. Then they invite me places and everybody else starts freaking out. It sounds like a great surrealist comedy sitcom plot.

I saw the art of this and immediately thought of Nyan Neko Sugar Girls, an old fanime satire/parody series that has the purposefully awful MS Paint art that this project has. When I was growing up budding artists were making all kinds of stuff genuinely that looked like this, so this is an absolutely perfect example of digital horror for me.

lambdadelta is a character from umineko no naku koro ni who is sort of related to satoko hojo from higurashi who keeps getting mentioned and shown. another anime girl who keeps popping up is lain iwakura, whose name is pronounced the sameas "raine" in japanese. the constant mentions of nagito komaeda (white hair guy) could be a reference to the older arg/tumblr page komaedalovemail which is quite similar to this. The class video being dated 2013 is an immediate red flag for any higurashi fans because gou/sotsu are mentioned earlier and they only started airing in 2020. The plot of these entries follows one satoko hojo as she forces others to brutally murder each other in a plethora of time loops to try and convince her "best friend" rika furude to stay by her side in the future. A motif seen in this anime that was mentioned but never explored in the original higurashi plot was memories from various other timelines bleeding into other ones (for characters who don't normally remember time loops). also ive seen the wtc positivty account and had no clue it was tied to a larger arg LMAO just some things to think about

This series seems to be have a lot of imagery and ideas inspired by Higurashi, which is a visual novel/anime franchise based around cute anime girls, lots of murder and mental health issues/trauma. It’s my favourite anime/manga series and I definitely recommend looking into it to pick up on the references in this arg.

The plot of Land of the Lustrous revolves around the main character Phosphosphyllite attempting to find a purpose in their existence. They repeatedly lose body parts and have to have them replaced with new materials in order to function. It's kind of like if the Ship of Theseus was made into an anime. 1:28:00 The weird clip is from Silent Hill 2. In particular, when the character Maria asks the protagonist James to free her from a jail cell. (spoilers below) In Land of the Lustrous, there is TONS of Buddhist imagery. The moon is essentially heaven in LotL. the only way to get there is through (essentially) death, or willingly being taken. Also the moon is essentially covered in corpses (ground-up gemstones) so Kongo Sensei can see it from Earth and be reminded of his repeated failure to protect his children. As for the Silent Hill 2 clip-- Silent hill is filled with distortions in reality and time. In the relevant scene, Maria asks to be saved after getting killed in front of James and somehow magically being revived. She technically is killed 3 times in the story. I don't know if this matters, if I'm way too late, or if the arg is over, but I thought I'd give context

SPOILER The mechs are also made from their mutilated mothers. There are multiple versions of the anime covering different timelines because the male lead fails to find a happy ending but the leader Angel loves him and resets time over and over.

I'm 1 hour into this analysis and we had: - MS-Paint Anime (Multiple seasons at that) - Cults - Mental Health Problems (Depression, Hallucinations, etc) - Gods - Timeloops - Anime - Multi-layer Websites - Tumblr (Oh, the Horror!) ... I just want to see "scary face" and go "wah!" again :(

@endorphintherapy Quality-wise its great (even though the artstyle of the anime is shitty in the beginning, it gets better overtime and stuff like that) and as someone in IT I dont even want to begin to grasp the amount of work went into the websites alone. Maybe just focus more on resolving stuff from time to time or split stories up into their own? Then again, its your vision. Maybe its about time we get an ARG the size of "Homestuck" and I am just getting too old
