@anothersomebody81959 күн бұрын
I would agree. This one is pretty much perfect. The stairs won't kill you, the bathroom isn't camperesque, the kitchen is functional, the living area feels large, the guest sleeping arrangement is roomy. She still came in under what a single wide would cost after foundation, delivery, install, taxes. Nice the BC neighbors can do these. Just south they are not permitted over 6 months in one location.
@potts927410 күн бұрын
the only thing i'd have changed is she had plenty of room to drop the floor down in the master bedroom to where she could have stood upstairs- especially considering she never uses that tub.

Definitely a full height walkway alongside the bed would have been the plan!
@ej30169 күн бұрын
but doesn’t dropping the loft floor mess with the height of the shower
@kiwigirljacks9 күн бұрын
@@ej3016 you can drop just a portion so it’s a walkway beside the bed, the bed still being on the higher part of the ceiling. So it would only cut the height out above the bath (possibly into the washing machine/dryer part but doesn’t need to go that full length). Then at least you can walk along the side of your bed before hoping up onto it.
@anothersomebody81959 күн бұрын
I think that would be counter productive to her claustrophobic concerns. The flow of that house was perfect, and I think a dropped ceiling would ruin the bathroom. The cost would go up too.

You can place mobile skirting during the winter , that will disrupt the airflow under your T-Home , wrap your exterior waterless , also during summer months open skylights to allow heat to vent out .

LADY, you are right about a built-in fireplace but you could do that NOW with your existing fireplace. You could build cabinetry around it and provide a shelf under the window in the process for plants. And provide space for books as well. 6 inches deep is all you need. I love your home. Thx for the video.

When I lived in a motel for a while, it showed me that I could totally love in a tiny home and gave me the opportunity to sort out my practicality preferences in the design of a home of my own. Tbh a good start would be to make a temporary version to construxt and live dry in before committing to something with gorgeous materials like this. Her design reminds me so much of a hotel room but has all the live-in features i would HAVE to have too 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 Much Love!!!

Funny! I’m not a minimalist either BUT…my favorite room I saw in AD years ago. Bare wood floors with med-light stain. A sofa with wooden legs. The tables were all antiques but simple lines. I’m not sure of the period but they were like Biedermeier: beautiful woods and simple lines. A gorgeous mirror and simple drapes. Few objects just letting the furniture shine. It was so restful! I did get rid of my Oriental rugs. With dogs floor easier to care for. But I have LOTS of stuff on surfaces. And artwork on walls! And I LOVE baskets! Lolol Pairing down on surface clutter is helping. Trouble is my clutter is sterling or crystal candlesticks, a snuff box collection, a collection of daguerreotypes, red Bavarian glass…etc! Lolol But I moved from a 2500 sq ft home into 1500. It all doesn’t fit!! 🥴

From the video: Cost was 170k but it had many extras. If doing it again she'd put in radiant floor heating, skip the skylights, get a quieter washerdryer since noise travels. Ceiling fans and dehumidifier are essential. Risk of pipes freezing, so shutting it up to leave it&go travel requires care. How many square feet? Didn't say how much she was paying in space rent. (And as another commenter noted, putting skirting around the perimeter would likely be good)

Gorgeous tiny house, especially the kitchen! It's clean, well-lit, feels light, with well-placed appliances. I'd probably remove the tub for a longer work desk and a built-in bookshelf for all my art supplies and books tho, lol. Glad to see her living a comfy life in her beloved tiny house!

Her kitchen is prettier and more sparkly than mine! I live in a home built in 1972. It’s a galley kitchen. With the range AND the fridge in the same small space there was no counter to speak of. I moved the fridge into the adjoining laundry and took some space from the garage and made a pantry/laundry “room.” Gained about 24” of counter. Doesn’t sound like much but here…it is!!!

Perfect minimalist Amber makes a wonderful impression. Immediately you can see that she has an amazing character and a sophisticated approach to life. A beautiful home and a very practical, multifunctional approach to the things used in it and attention to detail and the quietness of the appliances working in the house. Infrared heating mats suspended from the ceiling and directed down to the floor can compensate for the lack of floor heating. Absolutely wonderful house and perfect owner.

This is undoubtedly one of the prettiest, most livable, tiny homes I have ever seen. Absolutely has everything that I would want in a home. I currently live in 3040 square feet, yet I could see myself retiring into this home. It has a real kitchen, a place to relax on a people sized couch, a work area, a laundry space, a bathtub and a comfortably sized shower, ( not one that you need to baby step around in to shower off your back), a place to hang up your clothes on hangers, (what a concept!)and nice airflow windows. I would add a hanging rack for pots and pans and shoe storage under the sofa. And like she said, in that climate, that would be a built in fireplace or a wood burning stove. I would add a very wind resistant screened porch, especially with animals, for a stop and shake off space.... And those huge Canadian mosquitoes to be intercepted before entry into the main living space. I would also add insulated boxes around ALL outside wiring, plumbing, etc. ( easily removable for moving, very stable for stationary living ) Also, as long as you intend to stay there, put some spray foam insulation up under that entire floor! I have spray foam up on the inside of my metal roof in Texas and the inspector/appraiser for my home expected to be blown over from the heat, because it was 103°F outside with the full sun beating down on the metal roof. It was 82° in the attic. 79° in the house with no A/C! That foam works. Once again...I do love your home.

Amber's tiny gives a feeling of being so peaceful and restful. I have to say that I LOVE her bathroom with both the tub and shower! Interesting that she wouldn't choose the cost of the skylights if she were to do it again, but I bet as a person who is claustrophobic it made a big difference to getting used to the low bedroom heights. I thought I might feel the same but this year went car camping for the first time and I found sleeping in my car to be no problem at all! It did help that I could open the door if I needed too. I have seen so many beautiful tiny homes lately that were built by Mint! And great design and decor, Amber!

Thanks for the video! I am always inspired by how economical one can make a space and keep it super livable. Your washer/dryer set caught my attention. I have a small condo and I recently made some upgrades to appliances. I had one of those combo washer/dryer stations which was quite loud. I replaced it with an LG washer/dryer stacked set. These can be stacked or bought pre-combined as washtowers (with a combined control panel for the washer and dryer). They come in 27 inch or 24 inch sizes to fit different space needs (my set has compact 24-inch units). Specifically, I got the LG heat pump version of the clothes dryer, and so closed off my vent (no more vent cleaning costs and dust escaping into my small space). These new units save a lot on water, and with the heat pump dryer, a huge amount of electricity (with only a small increase in drying time-- I find around 20 minutes per load). The big bonus is that these units are relatively quiet for washer and dryers, which is important in a small space. I also more recently replaced my dishwasher with a Bosch 500, which also uses less electricity than my 20 year old Whirlpool dishwasher. I can now run my dishwasher at night as it's so quiet. I use the AutoAir feature where the dishwasher door pops open after a cycle, which makes for a more economical drying process, and everything is ready to be put away in the morning.
@shellysadventures28758 күн бұрын
So you prefer the wash tower a lot more than the combo unit? Looking to add to the second floor bathroom, just debating what makes any sense.
@thomasb3318 күн бұрын
@@shellysadventures2875 I got the 24 inch compact stacked set a year ago as that what was available at the time to fit my small space. I first heard about these LG units in general when I read about local people who got one of the 27 inch washtowers with a heat pump. Heat pump dryers were new to me, and a solution to the problem I had with my vented system. I had some general awareness that LG was a good brand for washers and dryers. A compact 24 inch LG washtower version came out after I purchased my set, and I would have chosen that one instead if I was buying today. This new 24 inch washtower had a few newer features. The main difference of a washtower over a stacked pair is that the washer/dryer in the washtower configuration share a control panel in the middle (so the overall height is less than a stacked set). There is probably a weight difference as well, as I found moving the stacked set was difficult given its weight. I had to adjust the feet many times as the stacked set needed to be perfectly balanced. The high spin washer becomes very load if it's slightly off balance.

Bought it from a holiday park. You can get much more expensive ones and much cheaper ones but I found anything under 3k was in such bad condition I wouldn't be able to fix it up by myself.
