I have accidentally stolen cats this way. Had one old tom decide he wanted to live with us. Showed up in our driveway every morning, meowing and rubbing up against our legs, and tried to get inside the house. He had a collar but no name tag, so he wasn't a "true" stray. This went on for a few weeks before we finally relented and let him inside. He became a 99% indoor cat, only going outside occasionally before immediately coming back inside. Dude literally decided to retire with us. Died in his bed about 4 years later, we presume at a very ripe old age. RIP Sarge.

Jinx could turn up. Our outdoor tomcat Charlie disappeared one day. He’d been living around our house all day every day for at least a decade. We looked for him for weeks, then cried our eyes out for a few more weeks, then started cherishing our fond memories of him. Three months later he showed up waiting for breakfast like nothing ever happened. He’s sitting there right now, with that “hurry up, peasant” look on his face. Bastard. You have to be gone at least four months before I go mourning you again, buddy boy. Point is, you never know with cats, she may be back.

@@Harv-Kane Me too. Truly. We had another feral cat, Frankie, who disappeared for months and came back with a foot injury that looked like it had been treated. So someone took him in for a while when he got hurt, then he left and came back to us. Our senior kitty Sara disappeared once and we assumed she had passed. Then she came back with a pink rhinestone collar (that she was super pissed off about). We only keep two cats in the house at a time and there are two or three living outside who prefer it that way. They come and go, but we usually have them for years, and yeah, we always worry about them. Jinx may very well have been ‘taken in’ somewhere. Went off on a walkabout, mooching at back doors, and someone goes “oh, you poor kitty, I’ll give you a home!” and then she’s inside and there she has to stay. Totally sad for you because you miss her, and she probably misses you too, but chances are good that she’s ok somewhere. Sometimes we have to be content with hoping that’s the case. All the best ❤

I feel you explained, quite rationally, your reticence and reservations you harboured to discussing Jinx. I have watched your channel a very long time, and as a voyeuristic viewer peeping into this tiny sliver of your life you share with the world, you with Kane and Harvey, you have never struck my as the kind of person at all prone to preformative emotional hyperbole for the purposes of egoistically extorting sympathy from viewers. I feel as long as any statement of personal vulnerability is honestly and sincerely intended, as your statement is, it will be received in kind. 👍

The part where you said to Kane "where's Jinx?" and he started to look for her was probably the most sinister part of the video. Knowing she will never return and having Kane hopelessly search for her, coupled with those ambience noises, it gave horror movie vibes.
@feliciaroseantonia3 ай бұрын
I mean. Even if its unlikely, you don't technically know for _sure_ that she won't return. I think its pretty obvious the uploader wasn't saying it to torment Kane emotionally or anything. Rather, just as a general sort of "Yeah, we've been looking for her, haven't we?", more like just including him in the conversation/also showing the viewer what Kane's investigative sniffs look like. If anything its just a bit sad. But its still not really as sad as it would be if she had passed away (which, yes, I admit, is _technically_ possible, but, as was explained in the video, is quite unlikely, considering the surrounding context of the area & such). If whoever has her knows that she's already someone else's cat, then its really not cool for them to just... keep someone else's cat. Especially if they haven't even had her for very long themselves. So I hope the uploader gets her back. (I feel kind of bad just saying "the uploader," but I don't know what his name is, of course. I don't think he's ever given that information about himself on KZbin.)
@magicweaponr0723 ай бұрын
@@feliciaroseantonia oh. What I meant was "[us] knowing she will never [realistically] return". Also, I don't know about her getting adopted by someone else. They're cats after all, they should be able to find their way back, unless she's been taken tens of miles away or more, or being kept inside the house 24/7 (which, I don't think is that easy) they probably should've seen her return.

Here's praying the mites are gone for good, this time! Jeez. Harvey and Kane are almost as bad as my own Corgis when it was time for food. They would actually fight over their bowls - so much so we actually had to separate them (one ate inside, one at outside) at breakfast and dinner. I never really gave much thought to Jinx's absence in the videos - I sure hope and pray she was picked up by someone else. 😢

Maybe Jinx found some kittens and somehow adopted them. Maybe someone found her with kittens and just thought she’s the mom and took them all in to help taking care of them. Then Jinx just always stay around to play with her adopted kids. Maybe she will bring them all back when they older. I had female cat who’s always missing when she’s pregnant and raising kittens while other cats just like to come by for food and shelter while they’re pregnant then give birth and raise the kids until they’re old enough.

Cats aren't from around here. They're from Africa, and evolved to live in an African environment. Letting them outside exposes them to predators and parasites they have no defenses against. against. No one's taught them to live feral or to dodge traffic. Outside cats live an average of 3 years. Indoor cats can live to be 18, 20 or longer. Do you love your cat? Really?
