this is a terrible idea for foxes to be in a place like this they only come together to breed and then there will only be the two together. this is dangerous and will make them angry this is why they all look beaten up coz they are fighting to eat. foxes don't look this beaten up when they are in the wild. it is heart breaking to see them all in such a state.
@Honeypot-x9s
@Honeypot-x9s 4 жыл бұрын
Being a non pack animal doesn’t mean they can’t get along, the issue is likely some sorta abuse issue. These foxes are not acting how they would in the wild. Foxes in the wild are surprisingly social creatures that basically share... sure there is the occasional argument sometimes. It appears forcing these conditions and/or any abuse maybe causing problems..

I was thinking the exact same thing. Maybe they don’t feed them and just rely on visitors to. They need to make sure all the foxes eat. Having the visitors do it is not gonna grantee they all get fed because they’ll compete. If they’re begging for small scraps of food, I don’t think they feed them themselves. I don’t think they’d beg that much if they get regular meals

No meat in their diet. It’s just god awful! I can’t believe this place exists. They need dens to live in too. With the money they get from tourism they should be able to care better for them.

I think being vegan and claiming you care about about animals is hypocritical. Especially if you have a carnivorous pet and feed it plant food. Deforestation for soy beans are killing the ozone layer more then anything else. And you have to import not only soy beans but the rest of your vegan crap. That’s great for the environment. There is no way in hell that any diet doesn’t hurt animals or nature in some way. And quite frankly, being vegan is one of the worst

Just my own opinion though. If not mistaken that place was originally a fox farm. a place where fox pelts were harvested. then something happened and they no longer slaughter the fox for pelts but instead turn it into a zoo or something like that. what do you think will happen to the massive amount of foxes if the place is shut down? I don't think they will release all of them into the wild, as it will surely disturb the ecosystem. most likely all the fox will get killed. or even if they are being released they can't even survived in the wild anyway. think again when you think about shutting down all these zoo like facility. tbh It felt like the facility is short of hand and fundings to take care of all the fox.. boycott it might actually make things worst actually.

Guys... this is a sanctuary. Where else should they go? As it sounds they are all foxes who can't go back to the wild. It's basically the last station except for zoos, and japanese zoos aren't better than this. The mainproblem is just that the owners don't treat them well. Maybe it got too much to handle. Not enough food, no birthcontroll and too many foxes cramped together. And the fucked up thing of caging / chaining them for tourists amusement... animal care in japan is just horrible.... same issues with the rabbit island only that the rabbits don't have owners and are practically feral but untreated and starving. (btw. the rabbits in the video are 100% food for the foxes which doesn't look much)

I’m pretty sure foxes are solitary animals. So having a huge group of them is just gonna cause a lot of fights. I don’t know for sure but that just makes sense to me. Yeah they have a lot of space but they’re naturally gonna wanna compete with each other. And I have to wonder if they even feed them. Obviously the larger more alpha foxes are gonna have an easier time getting food from the others. The albino, smaller foxes and stuff like that are gonna have a very hard time competing for food

But foxes don’t live in groups like wolves do. They don’t exactly rely on a pack. Being social really isn’t the same as working in a pack. Wolves, lions and other animals like them need to be in groups and are often seen together. I haven’t seen a ton of wild foxes but I’ve never seen them in groups. And being forced in such a large group isn’t something that they’re probably used to

YamiNoGame we have about five foxes on my property or near by property, absolutely understand stand what you mean however I wouldn’t exactly call them solitary either. It’s somewhere in between, absolutely. Our wild foxes have actually gotten really close to us at times and never bothered us either like I was probably no further then 5 feet from one sniffing around my drive way other day. Infact they sometimes play with the dogs in neighborhood on occasion :) it’s truely interesting! I think foxes are just super misunderstood.. my state has a law against foxes as pets without some special work arounds and when I researched why my state says no, they classify them as dangerous Predatorial animals, in the same category as large wild cats Infact.. ugh. Yet my wild encounters with foxes been nothing but charming and friendly....

@@evelynharber6077 It's actually a myth that foxes are solitary. I've been watching foxes in the wild for over a decade and all of them have lived in groups. They are solitary hunters, as in they don't hunt cooperatively, however it's normal for them to live in small family groups, typically consisting of a breeding pair and 1-3 non-breeding adult vixens from previous litters. Sometimes groups can be even larger than that, it all depends on the size of the territory and the availability of food. What is unnatural is having unrelated adult foxes together. Like wolves, foxes are very family orientated and form close bonds with their family members, but will not tolerate unrelated foxes.

This makes my heart hurt. I raised rescue foxes growing up. These poor things are filthy, underfed and poorly taken care of. It is possible to keep foxes in large groups but they are fighting like this because of a lack of resources. I understand that people can have their hearts in the right place to want to help. Sometimes people get in over their heads which may be the case here. But from what I can see here this is not to the level to keep these creatures healthy.

This place is just fucked up. I love Japanese culture and am planning on visiting soon. I agree with everyone and in no way am I defending the Fox Village BUT what if they don't have the funding to care for the foxes as well as they'd like? As big of a tourist attraction as it is, the place is really run down. The "designated" petting foxes made me lose my shit. Yes, most of the foxes get to roam around a large area... but the others no doubt live their lives in those cages. They are kept separate so they don't develop any aggressive behaviors.
