A small nylon tote can do all of this, last longer, and pack up smaller in your pocket when not in use. It would also be more useful when buying groceries at your destination.

My brother went on holiday once with a group of his friends for a week on the Mediterranean coast. One of the guys turned up at the airport with a supermarket carrier bag containing just a t-shirt and a pair of boxers. He was wearing his swim shorts, another t-shirt, underwear, sandals, baseball cap and sunglasses. The swim shorts were good enough to wear all day, and he just washed one of the t-shirts and one of the boxers in the bathroom sink each evening, dried them overnight, and used the hotel's free toiletries for his personal hygiene. Job done.

Love it. Just goes to show how little you really need.
@stephwinant50384 ай бұрын
That’s crazy to me. I usually bring 3 changes of clothes and wash them as I go, plus only a few toiletries since I’m allergic to scents I can’t rely on what’s in the hotel, plus phone, charger, battery bank, swimsuit and REI quick dry towel, and a small plastic bag with first aid and other hiking essentials and medications. I’ve always gotten away with everything fitting in a carry on back pack and a small bag to keep on my person.

I appreciate this. I like it especially bc it shows we can just be with what we have and not just consumer specific brands and features of bags (and other things). It reminds me of when i was in college and kept a small ziplock bag as my wallet. People thought it was so strange but i loved the simplicity and nonconsumerist charm of it

Impressive! And here I thought I was so minimalist when I flew cross-country, nationwide with a leather pouch (the size of your shopping bag). It held small wallet, phone, toothbrush, hairbrush, lipgloss, deoderant and two changes of clothes all rolled up. (Shampoo and soap was already supplied by the Air BnB' everything else I wore.)😃

Looks cool. I've gone with less, only using my pockets, but that certainly isn't for everyone. If I need to carry more, I will keep this in mind.

Its literally called the minimalist app or similar. It basically changes the phone from icons to text and is amazing! You can change the size of the text to be big like his or much smaller. I love the look and I love that it encourages less apps. You can hide apps too. It costs £1.50 or similar a month, or £13 a year. It is worth it.

Ive seen some of your videos and i like their vibe. I have always enjoyed bareness in rooms but that changed over time. If i may add some criticism therefore of the extreme minimalist lifestyle. "The desire for the cessation of desire is still desire" i got that from an alan watts video. And applied to material possessions a t means imo the accumulation of nothingness is still accumulation. What ive realised is that aethetics should not be the end itself but functionality. If owning less leads to more practical lifestyle then it is good, but it if it prevents me from doing stuff than it is also bad. So once i got rid of the metaphor of emptiness for my mental state i changed a bit and started adding some colour to my life. Now i dont need to obsess about having everything bare and tidy or tucked away. But thats just me.
