New subscriber. I've been doing collision repair for 25 years. Had a bad hail storm come through 3 years ago and hired a storm chaser pdr tech to sub.i was in awe of the work and wanted to learn. The tech told me I'll never get it because we're "panel beaters" . I've been practicing ever since and continue to upgrade tools and equipment. I will admit I've struggled and continue to with bad habits. But it continues to make me better. I've just recently started advertising pdr with my shop. There's not many techs around my area. So word is spreading and jobs are coming in. So I really enjoy guys like you who are proud of their work and love to share it. It's much appreciated with a converting panel beater. Thank you

Having watched lots of your videos I noticed that when panels are dented they often pull the surrounding metal out of shape. Many times you attach tabs and pull in directions to correct this effect, versus just pushing the dent out - doing this reduces the “slack” in the metal, making it lie down to the proper contour. In this case I would have guessed that pulling across the wheel opening and taillight opening might have benefited from a little pulling, in addition to what you did. Either way, as always, very nice result!

I agree. I wonder what compels him to use the porta-power-wood-block “panel spreader” approach, versus pulling from the direction of impact, or at least around the axis of impact. I think most of us understand that we can’t just try to pull a panel exactly in reverse of how it got dented, and that’s a big part of this. But what do you think makes him do it laterally or on axis? Also, some dents, creases, dimples, and such, simply will not go back into shape because they have been altered in a way that can’t be reversed. I like the lateral pulls when you’ve got a wrinkle that just needs to be smoothed, like how you snap a fabric with a mild wrinkle to try shock the wrinkle out of the fabric, but try scrunching up a sheet of aluminum foil, and then get it back to its previous perfect state. Good luck, but I’d guess that it could always be heated enough to then be drawn through the rolling press to form that sheet in the first place. Those creases along the bumper cover line look like the non-conformist types. And near that edge the paint is chipped and flaked off. Uh oh. Better call some paint. ??????

i have been using the blue tequila cold temp glue lately in midwest seems to pull better than tab weld for me.i bought some anson black but haven't tryed it yet..I have a addiction to glue haha Love your videos 30 year bodyman here and many award muslecars under my belt and pdr for last 8 years still learning .Body is getting wore down but feel young watching you.love your videos you sure make it look easy.Keep up the good work!
