In college, my girlfriend was away in Sweden for the semester. It was 2003, so tech wasn't great. She had a Mac and I had a PC and the only free apps we could use to talk were one with video (ultra low res and like 1fps) and another to text. We couldn't get audio to work. It was our 4 year anniversary. So she called internationally (very expensive) to order a pizza sent to my dorm. They put her on hold, which she really did not appreciate paying for. She asked them to write Te Amo in pepperoni so we could eat together for the special day (my early lunch, her late dinner). It arrived and I opened the box to show her on camera. I will never forget the stop motion blobby laugh as she read "pe amo." They misspelled it. We've been married now for 18 years and every year she makes our special "pe amo" pizza and we tell our kids about how bad technology was before they were born.

The wholesome thing I saw today was opening my favorite app (purr) scrolling a bit and getting a live feed of two sonics eating from the bowl. For those wondering it's an app for a program based in china where you feed mostly stray cats but sometimes other wild animals come by too. And on this particular "house" it's common to see hedgehogs come by. I also saw earlier an almost cat fight (they were just yowling at one another but didn't actually fight) and saw another just curl up and go to sleep there. I'm definitely donating because it's so cute.

9:30 I hid this from my mom due to her being an excellent cook and I didn't want to outshine her. The reason that mine was "better" overall is the difference in focus. Mom always made things from her family recipes, and recipes from cookbooks that were similarly themed like "Grandmas perfect casserole". I also made family recipes etc but the big difference when I went out on my own to university is focusing on famous restaurant meals as well, like many Italian pasta dishes, Duck a l'orange, or when it was basic meats, etc, making a special sauce or gravy etc. I never shared that with my parents, though, because Mom's cooking, which is fantastic, is one of those main pillars of her character.

There's a charity in our town that is buying old hotels, renovating them into studio apartments and rwnting them out to singles on the cheap because there's no singles housing in the town. Most apartments, that aren't designated as senior apartments, are 2+ rooms and carry that cost. So it's really filling a need to prevent adults from becoming homeless.

I forget which birthday it was, but my family has a Pizza Night every tuesday, and depending when in the week birthdays are, we shift it to the birthday, and while I don't remember which year it was for me, because we go there so often, and because I think my dad asked, they wrote on the lid of the pizza box, wishing me a happy birthday and best wishes from the local Dominos crew, stuff like that always ends up sticking, making me feel all warm and giddy.
