Stock tires on my JK are 32.5 inches tall(255-75-17). With a leveling spacer kit installed, I am running 34 inch tires(285-75-17) with absolutely no problems, and love this mild lift tire combo for that fact that it seems to not have drawbacks for axle strength and gearing.

I would argue that you have the sizes wrong. The 33" tire will comfortably fit a stock JK, 35" on a 2.5" lift, and so on. Up travel is nice if you're bombing along but for a comfortable daily driver and a good rock crawler, low COG is far more important than uptravel.

Agent. K. Nobody runs 33s with 3" of lift on a 07-present JK/JKU Wrangler. Stock tire size is 32, 33s fit stock as well. This video is extremely conservative with tire sizes. 2.5" kits will clear 35s, 37s need 3.5" and flat flares or a 4-4.5" kit. Older Jeeps like 87-95 YJs and 97-06 TJ/LJs and even XJ cherokees need about 3-4" to clear a 33" tire.

@extremeterrain5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, we appreciate it! The Rough Country shocks included in the kit are nitrogen charged, which will provide a slightly stiffer ride that will handle better on the trails, and will also prevent cavitation better than standard hydraulic shocks. If you're on a budget, going after a spacer lift is a fine option. But if you have the room in your budget I would personally recommend getting the lift with full coil springs and shocks. Pair them up with an adjustable track bar to keep your front axle centered, and you'll be good to go! -Zach

Wrangler Riders I have 33" toyo open country tires on 20" fuel wheels. With the wheels being 20", does that make it like if I have 35"?
@bkrdtours7 жыл бұрын
a 33" tire whether it is mounted on a 14, 15, 16 or even a 20" wheel still is 33" tall. Think of it this way, if you have a doughnut and you cut a bigger hole in the middle does it make the doughnut any bigger? Lastly, a 20" wheel in a 33" tire, while great on the street, will offer very little tire side wall flex when aired down for the trail. Because of the lack of sidewall, the wheel would be much more prone to damage as well. Hope that helps! Doug R. Elder at Wrangler Riders.

@smudgeone7 жыл бұрын
I've been running 35" tires on a Rubicon Express 2.5" kit for a long time now. No body lift, stock fenders and it fits and wheels very well. JKs require an 1.5" wheel spacer on the stock wheels or at least 4.75" backspacing on the aftermarket wheel so you don't rub on the sway bars. You will need a programmer like the AEV procal or a more costly programmer like a traildash to make those speed adjustments.

I have a 2012 JKU on the Rough Country 2.5" lift running 35's with zero issues at all. My speedometer also has auto corrected itself and is spot on with how fast it actually travels, very strange. But 2.5" does work and you won't have any issues rubbing. Do not buy Rough Country though, their springs and shocks are absolute garbage and ride like a dump truck. I'll be swapping my springs soon, already swapped my shocks to Bilsteins.
@RUBICON2597 жыл бұрын
LOL. Your speedometer does not "auto correct" itself. You will need to manually adjust it with a procal or some other type of programmer. If you are running 35's and did not do this you are not spot on :)
@redbulletlive7 жыл бұрын
It most definitely DID auto correct itself, because it's not even off by a 1 mph. I tested it with three separate GPS speedometers and it's 100% spot on. It's my rig, how are you going to tell me how I'm wrong? This isn't my first rodeo.
@RUBICON2597 жыл бұрын
Well we've lifted hundreds of jeeps so I might have a little more experience than yourself. I want to lift my Jeep about 2-2.5 in but keep stock tires for a while so I can afford other upgrades like bumpers, would that look goofy? Eventually I would want to upgrade the stock to 33s. I wouldn’t be going on to many trails just every once in a while when I want to explore. (Edit) I have a 2009 2 door wrangler

It may look a little off, but its totally up to you! You could always purchase the lift ahead of time, and then save up your money for tires and put everything on at the same time too. Wishing you the best with your build! -Zach

been thinking about getting a f-150 or 250. Question what would you recommend on lift and tires? it will be my daily commuter but weekend warrior backrosds. Or would you have another opinion on a vehicle that is on the bigger size with lot or room inside.

I have a bds 3.5 lift kit with fox shocks. You think I'll need to add anything else to run 37s?
@extremeterrain5 жыл бұрын
I'm not too sure what all comes with that kit, but at that height and tire size you *really* want to make sure you lift everything properly. Outside of springs and shocks, you're going to really want to make sure you keep your suspension geometry correct. I'd recommend looking into a full set of 8 adjustable control arms to keep your Jeep riding smoothly and to keep your caster/camber angles in check. You should also look into getting an adjustable track bar to keep your front axle centered and keep things feeling planted, a new rear track bar ( or track bar bracket) and possibly a drag-link flip kit to keep your steering geometry in check. Brake line extensions are a must as well. Looking into new drive shafts at that high of a lift may be a good option as well to avoid wear and drive-line vibrations. Long story short, the higher you lift your Jeep the more that needs to be accounted for. Take your time with research too. Hope this helps! -Zach

Question. Do I need to account for the automatic sway bar disconnect and axel lock in my Rubi when choosing a 3” lift? I just want to know if this will change any of the parts required for the lift
@extremeterrain3 жыл бұрын
Not at all! Just make sure the lift comes with new swaybar end links and you'll be good to go! -Zach

I bought a used 2016 Rubicon JK and it's running 33" tires.... I don't know if it has a leveling kit or any suspension lift... How can I tell? I know it sits up higher than other stock Rubicons I park next to......I'd like to know for sure because I'd like to run 35" tires and do some modding for offroad.
@fordracerforever6 жыл бұрын
Scott Kinderdine with leveling kit you can easily spot a rubber spacer on top of the spring up front . And if it is, you more than likely will still have the red rubicon oem shocks.

fordracerforever they have Fox Racing shocks.

It could possibly be this 2.5 lift kit but not too sure www.quadratec.com/p/quadratec/2.5-inch-lift-kit-fox-mono-tube-shocks-jeep-wrangler-jk?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjO-Z8vSO3wIVCf_jBx1TqA8YEAQYAiABEgKM7fD_BwE

When lifting 2.5, do axel breather lines need to be extended as well as brake lines?
@lvmybears7 жыл бұрын
vanludwig28 no,yu dont need the longer brake lines either.Most kits come with a bracket for the brake lines to mKe them a little longer.My 3.5 inch kit came with brackets.

This would have better been demonstrated if you'd have left the stock wheels/tires on each kit for clearance reference. Filling in the wells with larger tires each time sorta deflects from the variance perspective without standing beside them in person, just say'n!
@suppaman125 жыл бұрын
Tuffenough4u no one will ever ride 2.5 and up on stocks. It was a great idea to go up on tire size and the lift rises. Gives you a good idea on what it will look like with wheels that pairs well with that lft

So I’m wanting to get the 1.5 -3.50 lift fox shocks only and 3inch coil springs will I need anything else so I can run a 35” tire? I know there are lift kits with all the things in it, but I want to by each part separate at a time (more budget friendly lol). Will I need anything else?
@extremeterrain2 жыл бұрын
If you're lifting the JK three inches with only coils and shocks, we do also recommend longer sway bar links, brake line drop brackets, bump stop extensions, as well as an adjustable track bar or track bar relocation bracket!! Hope this helps!

If I do a leveling kit like the one in this video, could I add a 2.5 or 3.5 inch lift to it later on? Or would I need to remove the leveling kit?
@528Circle5 жыл бұрын
Greg Hankins you have to do so much of the same work twice if you do that. Personally, I would wait until you’re ready to do the lift. If you never want anything more than leveling - go for it. If you think you will someday lift it, just wait. That being said, if you are just chomping at the bit to tear into your Jeep (I get that!) Go for it! That’s the fun of having a Jeep!
