I bought an AC1 Pro recently for an 11 pedal pedalboard (EBS, Joyo, TC Electronic, Digitech & Boss). Four of the pedals are digital and a couple don’t play nice together on a shared supply so these are each on an isolated supply and the seven analog ones are all on one outlet. I just finished testing it and it’s perfect - no noise or hum! I’ve compare this to my Cioks DC7 and there’s no noticeable difference. This is an amazing product for the price! One thing Harley Benton could do is a fixing bracket or something to mount it underneath a pedalboard - that would really be the icing on the cake! Great review as always!

i am confused. i hear tons of hiss and hum during the test. at 10:15 before you play a note there is very noticeable buzz. at 10:25 when you engage the first switch there comes a lot of hiss as you go through and switch on and off the various loops, the amount of hiss changes noticeably etc etc am i missing something?

i tried listening with several different pairs of headphones including my Sure MDR-1000X, same thing
@EytschPi423 жыл бұрын
that noise comes from the pedals and is totally normal for an engaged drive pedal... no power supply in the world can fix that... that is not the "hum" we are listening for.
@aaronpratt77923 жыл бұрын
ok that makes sense. I am expanding my acoustic pedalboard, and therefore dont have drive style pedals that come with that kind of noise, but rather is totally quiet. That's why I was concerned about introducing noise to my signal chain. thank you so much!
@JayTheLaneАй бұрын
@@EytschPi42Yes, exactly correct and thanks for an insightful video. Drive pedals will always give some hiss. A noise gate helps when your not playing or to some extent between notes if you're playing lead and have good control. I made the mistake of buying a Caline unit that supposedly was fully isolated but it's uncertain if it really is. I then read up on them and was concerned using it to power my UAFX Golden and Starlight pedals could bork my signal or damage the oedals, so I got this unit for all of my digital pedals but will use possibly the Caline for my analog low ma pedals. I'm going to try and run the whole board off the HB first and see how it goes. If it works the Caline can be a backup for analog stuff. I'm just a bit annoyed I bought the Caline, my fault because I didn't read up properly. I've moved away from Modelling back to fully pedal based into my Fender Deluxe 112 solid state amp from the 90s which is blisteringly loud but is a great clean pedal platform 🎸🎶

I bought this exact combination. It works fine until now. No problems, no hum. The modular idea is great. I have one for one amp, one for the other amp and I can combine them, if I need to. I also like the IEC plug instead of an external transformer. Supposedly it might be noisy because a transformer is inside the box, but until now, like I said, it's been great.

I powered my pedals with an MXR Mini Iso Brick for a long time. I used Voodoo Lab output splitters in three of the four 300 mA outputs and powered my multieffect/moddeller on the 800 mA output. I got a compressor, 2 drives, fuzz, a modulation multieffect, reverb, delay and a modeller on that little guy. I assumed Boss RV-6 and DD-8 could share power because both are newer Boss pedals and must have similar circuits. I was right, no problems and I got an entire board on 5 outlets. These little switch mode PSU are great when made right.

I wish the 10AC also had the option to link. Right now I have 5 pedals on my board, so an AC modular would suffice, but I'm still tempted by the 10AC. I like the idea of having extra outputs available and it's cheaper than 2 AC modulars. But I guess it makes more sense to get a modular now, maybe a few 2-3x daisy chains to combine a few low current pedals, and get a second one down the line if needed. Sometimes I just have to write a comment to straighten my thoughts... This was helpful, thanks! Btw, I'm glad I looked at the AC line. I was tempted by the ISO-12 but didn't like the flimsy adapter it used. Much prefer the more robust IEC cables on the AC's.

Have that feeping? Sound when my truetone 18 to 9 v adapter cable is too close to my boss dd7 digital delay. Truetone iso pro cs 12 is maybe the best power supply out there but shame that they don't make these adapter cables properly. The design flaw is that the length of the cable sticking out past the adapter module is too short , this makes it's proximity to the pedal too close. Guess even the best companies have poor design ideas to diminish a perfect product. Good video Henning!👍

Hi. Does it make sense to pick a cioks instead of a harley benton? What are the real differences (I’m pretty sure there must be some). Types of transformers? Quality of components? Just the brand? I need to feed about 13 pedals (one of them needs 12v 450ma). Some of the other are digital (boss es-8, tc helicon play acoustic, boss dd-20, mooer ocean machine…). I’m getting crazy about the good choice that doesn’t ruin a live show, and cioks seems the good one, but is it the actual good one?. Fender, rockboard iec units, hb old powerbars, the new hb mods…? Please, we all need a real world 3 hours deep comparison. Thanks a lot for all your videos and information!!

So since it's the crisis I'm really interested in this product!
@LosTroopos3 жыл бұрын
Henning mentioned the Cioks DC 7 and the Cioks 4 expension. That's totally different to your DC 5 Link. The Cioks DC5 you have uses a toroidal transformer, which can cause EMI (electro-magnetic interference) with some pedals (especially wahs). It's not modular either. Though the outputs are isolated, so as long as it's wired up correctly it should be fine. To check for EMI you could move the hissy pedal away from the power supply to check if that makes a difference.

Is this a new model? I have two of those small harley-benton (or joyo?) isolated power supplies under my wooden board for _years_ now. But I don't think it offers 500ma per port, but less. (edit: Found it in my order history: I have two of the HarleyBenton PowerplantJunior's under my board. Have been stable and quiet and fixing all my noise problems I might have had since 2014 :P) Might actually upgrade to two of those smaller ones if they can be combined, means I only have one plug... and I was missing strong power for things like those digital reverb+delay pedals. Powering a Victory V4 pedal would also be nice!! (That power supply really sucks, no matter what they say). But I guess that connector + power-requirement is too far from standard. Powering a HX Stomp would then be the last thing to try :).

99% of all made in China power supplies are made at the Joyo factory. Even other brand names like mosky get them from Joyo. They are actually well made. I like the Mosky model as they are the size of a medium pedal. I actual have 80 pedals so I have a lot of power supplies. You can get them for about $30.00 USD but usually with an obscure brand printed on the box. Same box, same guts in all of them.

What i don’t get is, why are Pedal powersupplies as weak, or expensive as they are? 5x 9V 500mA outputs equates to 22.5 watts. People get upset these days if they don’t get a 30w charger with their Phone(if they still get any) or find alternatives to the 96w macbook charger because the apple branded one is too expensive being around 80€. Yet here we are Praising Cioks for building a powerfull (42w) Powersupply for over 200€ and call a sensibly priced alterative”budget”, being more than twice the €/W than the seemingly overpriced 96w Apple usb-c Powersupply. For contrast, i ran my Pedalboard for years on a Meanwell 12v 72w Switching Powersupply you can get anywhere under 20€. Also have i yet to find a 9V Pedal that doesn’t take 12. And if so, you could always add a Buck converter for less than 1€
