I wouldn't say it's DTS fans getting bored, as DTS does focus on other storylines than the titlefight (most notably Haas and Ricciardo). I fully agree. I’m a serious supporter of F1 since 1989, and have seen dominations come and go. There’s so much else going on currently, just looking at the drivers fighting for P2 in the championship, and the team challenges between Ferrari and MB.., even McLaren can cause an upset with AM if all goes well for them… And then there is James Vowles making his mark in the F1 team boss of the year fight, and AA fighting for every point, it’s such a special thing to witness, not to mention AT who wants to get away from P10.. LH trying to get a win, and GR fighting for his place at MB… My point being that it seems to be the uneducated fans who finds F1 boring.. Just keep in mind Max and RBR has to ensure 100% execution each race weekend to keep on winning, (there is so much that can go wrong!), and it is exciting because there are VERY hungry drivers right behind them which will pounce on the slightest mistake they make.. That makes each moment in F1 worth watching…(but only the connoisseur can appreciate it), so to all the new Netflix fans, if you are really interested in F1 for the long haul, go educate yourself..

Not to me. At that time I was about Sebastian Vettel not being able to win any championship nor at give Lewis Hamilton another great title fight. But I didn't know anything about Max Verstappen until the beginning of this year. On one hand for sure, he is an exceptional driver does know what he's doing on track and does drive exceptionally well and did really good achievements for himself and Red Bull don't get me wrong. But some problems I have with him is sometimes his character during the Saudi Arabia and Baku grand Prix. Especially when Max and Christian Horner sounded angry on the radio about Sergio Perez winning both of them only because he got lucky thanks to the safety car, even though he's driving for Red Bull as well ironically but very uncalled for. And even Verstappen crashed a driving sim player out of the race because he somehow beat Max in a previous race in the game. Not really mature of Max Verstappen if I'm going to be honest and he should've realized it's just a racing game. And just sad about Hamilton not being able to achieve a grand Prix win or challenge Verstappen to win his 8th championship. And a bit disappointed about his teammate Sergio Perez completely drowning despite having the same car as Max and not being able to get used to the car. And about Alphatauri being an absolute mess with managing the drivers, especially by Helmut Marko who seems to be cruel towards the underperforming drivers. The only thing positive is I'd like to say good for Carlos Sainz finally win his first grand Prix of the season for Ferrari and the remarkable comeback of McLaren and I really enjoy the duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, those two are doing quite well with McLaren for now and great news for McLaren starting to rise back to compete against Max Verstappen. Keep up the good work, Lando and Oscar! 👍

@@gandalf_thegrey I get it. It's sports. I'm just saying what's going on. And I mean Nick de Vries got fired by Helmut Marko in just less than half a year of his first season. It's just that 10 races just isn't enough time to fire him. If de Vries was going to be fired by the end of the season after failing every time, that's one thing. And not to mention the way Alphatauri is lead by Helmut Marko is an absolute mess. Yuki Tsunoda under immense pressure. Only two seats for the drivers when there's three of them. Liam Lawson only got one chance to drive well. While Helmut Marko added that unnecessary comment about Sergio Perez being from South America, even though Mexico is actually in North America not south. And not concentrated as Max Verstappen or Sebastian Vettel was uncalled for. Especially we all know Ayrton Senna is one of the best drivers of all time and he wasn't born in Europe, but in Brazil. I'm only saying F1 shouldn't be just for Europeans, any motorsport talent can be anywhere around the world. And just saying Red Bull Racing maybe simply isn't for Sergio Perez, that's it.

@l_poci_ Жыл бұрын
I mean for ferrari only 2000 and 2003 comes up as an actual fight. No team could really fight them in 02, 04 and even 01 in some ways. But all dominations have that. With RB 2011 and 2013 were on another level for red bull however 2010 and 2012 came down to the wire. Mercedes had no competition in 14-16 but there was a title fight between team mates. And in 17-18 ferrari put up a bit of a fight but it wasn’t much. I would say Mercedes had the biggest domination in terms of advantage over the others, but you cant say ferrari had it harder than the rest. Yes in some years it was tight but in some the championship was done in july

Shifts in that balance of power are usually brought on by rule changes regarding the technical regulations or a new driver only. This British dude needs to get off his high horse. It's funny how he tries to tell you what you must do just like how F1 is ran. This has nothing to do with Max and Red Bull wining. It's about everything else. Why watch F1 now days? The stewards don't allow for racing. Everything is a penalty in F1. These track limits are a joke. If someone barely touches someone they get a penalty. Passing is NOT encourage. The other issue I've noticed is that the stewards favor people / teams. George Russel can take over 5 position from the start by leaving the track and keep his position but when someone else does it they get have to give the position(s) back. If you are a big name and your impede someone during qualifying no big deal but if you are a lower tiered team you get penalized. I could go on and on with the stewards but to be honest AI should replace them since AI would be consistent. On another note F1 is stagnated. It's the same teams over and over. They don't allow other teams to complete which means less competition. F1 has a fix limited number of teams so basically year over year we pretty much see the same top tier teams and the bottom tier teams but never new teams. Andretti Autosport has been trying to get into F1 for a long time but they don't want real competition into their controlled sport. Image if the bottom tier would lose their ability to race and a new team could enter then every team would be racing to stay in. I hear people saying "but what about their investments?" well F1 should then fix that instead of having the same teams in the sport. When a teams try to bring in drivers from other racing series once again F1 has these stupid rules preventing threatening talent from racing in their "elite" series. Everything is controlled in F1. Everything! Look at the tires. Now you can't use them longer than what they say. They change qualifying to mandatory tire color to try and make it more interesting because they race themselves are not anymore. F1 has turned into a reality show. It has nothing to do with racing anymore. It's all about the drivers. Its so boring that drivers are watching themselves on the jumbotrons and commenting on how their team mates are doing. The FIA, team owners, and stewards control everything even how much a team can spend! LOL Here is advise to an anyone new to F1. To get the most out of F1 just watch the qualifies, race highlights, and top it off with Drive to Survive and you'll get the most our of F1. Personally there is more excitement watching ducks crossing a road...

That's also combined with the fact F1, as a racing product, just does not have much of a draw compared to almost any other motorsport. Indycar, WRC, WEC, IMSA, MotoGP, Nascar, V8 Supercars all provide much better and more entertaining races for the most part, usually with better driver/manufacturer title fights, and outside of the engineering and "worldwide" angle of the sport, people don't have much of a reason to watch. F1 will eternally retain its diehard fans but most Fairweather fans are gone, unlikely to ever return.

Indycar? F no, i watched the Indy500 this year to see what it was about, now that is really boring. Going around on ovals where the only interesting thing is a crash and where the safety car ending makes it one big lottery upon restart? Yawn. No, as a sport, F1 is far more interesting, where skill actually matters and it is the best driver that wins, as opposed to the lottery that is Indycar where the luckiest guy wins.
@BrandonA1 Жыл бұрын
@EntropicExergy The ending to it was a bit of an entertainment-grab, but don't act like F1 didn't do the same thing at Australia or God forbid Abu Dahbi 2021. The racing style is different, but Indy provides incredible speeds and tons of overtakes. Guys come and go throughout the race and there's a lot of strategy involved. Also, Indycar Road Courses>>>>F1 Road Courses. Regardless, even excluding Indy there are so many other motorsports that provide more entertainment than F1, races that aren't just DRS trains with a race for 2nd in the Constructors Championship
@EntropicExergy Жыл бұрын
@@BrandonA1 I am not talking about that ending, i'm talking about the finish in Indycar in general. The winner generally gets decided by the randomness of the safety car. In F1, the pinnacle of motorsport, it's about actual driver skill, like the principle in sports is may the best man win in general. If you like watching a lottery dictated by crashes and safety cars, be my guest, i don't care about those. And no, F1 did not do that in AD, they finished under a green flag, with actual racing. I meant ovals, those are boring as f, i'm not talking about road courses. And F1 does not have road courses, unless you mean street tracks. Apart from Monaco with all its history, i don't care much for those street tracks either. The classic old-school tracks in F1 are what make it so good. Tracks like Spa, Monza, Imola and Suzuka are the places where the magic in F1 happened. No, i get it, you're more into lotteries, where randomness decides the winner instead of skill. Good luck with that.
@BrandonA1 Жыл бұрын
@EntropicExergy Indycar is far from a lottery. First off, 11 of the 17 winners Led the most laps, and drivers that led the most laps were on the Podium 14 of 17 races, and even for late race (Final 10 lap) restarts there were only 3 in 2023. This doesn't matter though. Any aspect of what makes Indycar great doesn't matter. Because it's not the "pinnacle of motorsport". It is inferior to F1 in every way because their cars go slightly faster and are less spec. F1 has a ton of problems, there is a severe lack of natural overtaking, the cars are too big for many tracks they drive on, and the politics of F1 have made the schedule significantly more bloated and worse. F1 in 2023 isn't even a race, it's a procession. Again, watch anything else and you'll see that every motorsport has their own pinnacle: in rally, in endurance racing, in motorcycles, in Stock and open wheel cars. If you do that, maybe you can face reality and see the value in all motorsports, not just the one that's the least entertaining but best marketed
@EntropicExergy Жыл бұрын
@@BrandonA1 Yeah, that's just proving my point, Indycar is a lottery. Yeah, rally is pretty cool and endurance is interesting too, but they are quite different by nature. F1 the least entertaining, anything but, plenty of stuff going on behind Max, if you are willing to look at the entire race and not just P1. F1 is the pinnacle because of the engineering evolved no other class has. And it makes no sense blaming the other teams being so crappy on the sport itself, blame said teams that their engineers fail at ground effect aero.

I just recently got into F1 around the Australian GP this year, and honestly I don’t really care much about the dominance. As much as I like Red Bull and AlphaTauri, I’m mostly interested in the performances of Oscar, Liam, Williams as a whole, and others. I’m absolutely love the innovative nature of this sport!

Big part of this “problem” is that the drive to survive wrapped a lot of new “fans” from the US with this idea that F1 was this mega thing with mega drama, these “fans” don’t realize it’s a show and it’s meant to get viewer attention and if some things needs to be blown out of proportion directors will, but also one must remember that the average American have the attention span of a fish, it’s a culture of constant disposal of interest.
@VykronianF110 ай бұрын
I am SOOOOO glad you made a vid like this!!! 2021 IS the anomaly year we’ve never seen a battle that dramatic going on for that long. I wish it was like that 2014 and 2016 I wish went down to the last lap. But they didn’t in fact they were quite underwhelming as title deciders. So to expect nail bitting drama ever race is a fantasy. F1 doesn’t have the close competition of a spec series and as a result won’t achieve the same levels of dopamine as Indy, FE, or some junior category will. And that’s ok, good in fact as F1 isn’t just about the drivers but also the thousands of minds making a car just as good as the other team. Which is also composed of thousands of minds being with in 1 tenth on track! That’s actually INCREDIBLE if you think about it!! So many people complain about it being boring and yet there is sooo much more to appreciate away from the front. Actual fans will focus on every aspect not just the dogmatic view of the casual looking only at P1. The new ‘fan’ of F1 isn’t a fanatic of Formula 1 and all of its aspects, or of racing itself. They’re only fans about P1 and the drama that entails. And as soon as that’s gone they’ll go to the next thing that quenches their short attention span. F1 NEEDS to stop pandering to the bandwagon, and put out content that’ll turn a bandwagoner into a real fan. One that’ll stick with F1 through thick and thin. One that pays attention to every team, every driver, every pitstop, when the rain will come, how close the drivers on the timing tower are in 14-19. Because a fan of racing will be dying to see the fastest circuit race cars in the world duke it out regardless of the prestige of the team, or accomplishments of the driver. So honestly F1 is in a great position as the casuals are leaving and the fans are the ones still here. If F1 strives for integrity the real fans will stay, casuals will come and eventually also become true fans!!!

Not sure I like the argument of "it has always been like this, so it should remain like this" and "stop supporting something you like because you want it to grow/improve". Seems like unnecessary high-horse gate-keeping. Like any other issue where those argument are used. Issues can be solved guys. Complete domination for a sport is an issue. Just because you're used to the issue doen't make it a non-issue. With that said I still personally watch every race because I like many drivers/teams on the gird so I still have something to enjoy. While simultaneously knowing that its kind of an issue when other teams can't catch up effectively due to cost caps etc. (Especially now when there's more money than ever in the sport, even for non-top teams) I can also note that other issues are pointed out all the time by "real F1 fans": single-stop races due to low tire degradation, DRS-passing, hard-to-follow etc etc. should all the people pointing those issues out stop watching too? Where would that leave us?

I dropped F1 in 2014 due to boredom and came back after 6 years. These past years aren't any worse or better than those days in terms of dominance. This year Max mastered the RB to make a historical string of victories and we were lucky to see it. Alonso is still the g.o.a.t. when the car works and Hamilton wakes up occasionally to deliver a decent drive too. The up and coming talents step on each other's foot regularly. What more can we want from a season.
@viggen73 Жыл бұрын
I was born in the 70's and grew on the 80's in those days F1 had a different champion almost every year. Even then there were talks about dominance (78 Lotus wing car, 83 Brabham BMW Turbo car, 84-85 McLaren Porsche car, 86-87 Williams Honda car). The main reason that there weren't longer streaks of dominance was that the regulation concerning the car specifications would change very often (flexible skirts were deemed illegal in 1980, ground effect was banned all together in 1983, fuel tanks were reduced in 1984, turbo intake was restricted in 1988, turbo was banned in 1989 although the same team won anyway). Nowadays rulling is more long term and it helps a team, who produces a car more efficient with the directives given, to dominate. In the 80's fans complained FISA was allways changing their mind and no one could develop a car... since the 90's fans complain about the dominance. It part of the human nature to never be satisfied, so we shlould. So PLEASE SHUT THE F*** UP and enjoy the races. It may come a time when all this is gonne.

You're right. There is so much more to watch and think about during a race. The real stuff to watch in a dominant era like this is from P2 on down the line. There are a few contenders for P2 and P3 in the constructors and drivers championships. I think it's been a good season overall. My favorite driver is having a great season. My favorite team might surpass my favorite driver's team in the Constructors and Driver's championships. I hope Daniel has some really great races. And I've never heard such bitching about a dominant driver in my life.

I find the fact that people are legitimately calling for the FIA to intervene to stop Verstappen/RB dominance disturbing. The 2022 reg changes led to much closer battles and spectacular wheel to wheel racing. The cost cap has brought teams much closer in performance. Look at the Perez/Alonso battle at Interlagos. That's proof positive there's still incredible racing to be found, we just have to be willing to see it further down the field than P1 and P2 (thank you, by the way, for mentioning Alex).
