Charles at Spa this year was magic but his car was a bit slow. His qually laps in the wet were sublime- just off the white lines everywhere, smooth transitions in and out, no sudden hand movements. Can’t believe that car could have been driven faster.

You've reminded me that I used to enjoy rally, though not been to one for decades. So exciting. Can't commit to a full championship but I will definitely attend in the UK soon. Great F1/rally insights, as always. Thanks.

35:00 This is such a great insight. This is the kind of behind the scenes information that is so lovely to find out. My gut feeling of why these flowing interviews with F1 drivers don't happen anymore is pretty much confirmed by Peter's answer here. Funnily, there is a great interview with Hamilton that Peter Windsor did a long time back. So good. Wish we could have that style back.

I don't agree that Senna crashed because he hit a bump. He had no steering. The car a was 100% out of control and went literally straight into the wall. The car did even twitch, let alone steer before it hit the wall. The bump explanation is to take the blame away from Williams, who apparently made sure to erase the telemetry data before the car was investigated.

This was quite enjoyable to watch. Don't change how you present the participants' comments, this is is what differs you from the other F1 commentators, and you can say it's your "brand".

Nice to get comment on Martijn, Thierry’s co-driver. Those guys and gals are super competent at a whole range of skills and also know what a quick driver is! Brave also.

Such a joy to listen to you Peter, great insights and appreciate that comment on getting more talent through to F1, drivers not necessarily with the money required to make it. Unfortunately the reality is very different and it starts in karting already which I am experiencing in the junior international categories currently with my son. Also liked how you corrected yourself when you said « i’m going to be honest with you » and then you said that’s a silly thing to say. I always correct people who say « to be honest », I always reply « yes please don’t lie » :-)

I started watching WRC 2/3 months before PW went to the rally in Portugal (he may have mentioned wrc one or two times in his streams shortly prior which inspired me), but while watching the stages I kept thinking “PW’s commentary would be so interesting with this since the viewer can see so much more of what the driver is doing.”

I recall that Leo Kinnunen had rally and rally cross background before F1. And Kimi Räikkönen and Heikki Kovalainen did both their approach towards rallying after their F1 careers (well, Kimi in between)... and they both were at the Top 7 in a Rally at their best. - So much about Finnish F1 drivers in rally cars... Beside Sainz family. 😊

Having been in the main stand at the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994 and having been at other Grand Prix, including Monza and several test days at Silverstone under the old regime, i still prefer World Rally Cars and rallying. A day spent out in the Mountains or out in the countryside following the great Rally Cars and rally drivers is an incredible adventure.

I am dutch and i will tell you this: In NL you can do the f*ck you want, as long as it don't bother other people in any way. Be respectfull and you will be treated even with more respect in return. We are not shy to tell you like it is about anything, anywhere, any time. Not to be arrogant, its just in our nature. Lots of tourists will step back for this because they aren't used to this kind of behavior. Just remember that most often its well intentioned. Dont start arguing about how things goes in your country just for getting same here, cuz we dont care. If we are interrested, we will ask or visit your country for experience😊 And last but not least, NL isnt NL anymore how the world thinks it still isand hoe it should suppost to be. Unfortunatelly the free spirtit like in the 90's is not much left.

Hello Peter, I'm terrified of the consequences, after Adrian Newey starts working for Aston Martin, when / if Lawrence Stroll "asks" him to adapt the car to Lans' preference instead of chasing of the greatest performance. I have a big question mark as well regarding the recent performances of Fernando Alonso. What's your take?

Great drivers? They are 2 of the greatest drivers of all time, and Max already obviously. I think Max has passed Alonso over the last year or so in terms of pedigree which is the only factor that keeps Lewis and Schumi ahead of Max. Senna is without question the driver that everyone agrees was just different gravy.

You’re right about the scheduled driver “interviews”. I skipped Lewis interviews for about 5 years last decade with no loss, not listened to Max this decade until its all gone wrong in the last few races. Alex & Lando’s are often slightly more open, but both underplay what’s possible. Charles & Fernando are sometimes fun, sometimes not. Lance is king of not engaging. The number of fans who assume that means his bored of racing is daft though, I think he hates questions that he can’t answer honestly without getting in trouble 😺

Daniel. He uses gradual input and loads a tyre - once the tyre overheats he cant get it to cool again quick enough, because of gradual load. He also chooses to never follow in dirty air because he likes a pointy nose, so he will drop out of DRS to keep the car stable, so loses about 15secs a race refusing to follow closely in DRS. Someone like carlos gains 15secs a race in Charles DRS. Daniel never passes early, saves his tyres and tries to jump late in a stint. You only ever see Dan passing at the end of stints so he only ever gains two places on quali. Hes never been an expert qualifier - he doesn't quali high enough so gets buried. He thought he was the last of the late brakers till he went to McL and saw that landos data was better than his in braking, so the RB car is why he was such a good braker - this screwed his head up massively...his strength wasn't a strength it was the old cars strength. Hes never been the same. He took all the money, got lapped by lando in same gear in monaco after putting on his helmet that he runs those streets, made that peasant comment and i think might have been partying a little bit looking at his face, the baku incident with max made him leave RB. Hes overpaid for his talent level, hes been in F1 for 10 or more years he doesn't know any other life. He went back to his old employer, coz he wants to give back to the sport - but he needs to be replaced by a younger talent. F1 is not a retirement home to earn money - its a sport. hes only 0.15 off, but he cant even beat mid fielder yuki soundly enough to justify a seat in a top tier team. he can be a old driver in a backmarker team - or he can go to indy. hes not top tier, but he thinks he is still.
