This kind of "use the whole body" mentality is actually counterintuitive to being resource conscious. This just isnt how it works. Ill explain with a similar situation- leather. So people think leather is great because its using all of the animal and leaving no part wasted-but this is not how the economy or resources works. When the sale of leather is legal, its its own thing with different purpose as a "material" or "ingredient", meaning it would have different buyers and a different supply and demand situation. What this means is animals are quite often impregnated, raised, and killed for nothing but the skin alone while the rest is not used. In fact, skin of unborn calves is considered the most prized leather and so sometimes pregnant mothers are killed and discarded purely for the skin of the fetus. Thats unbelievable amounts of food and water spent to raise a tiny amount of product but its financially more lucrative for the seller. Most animal agriculture is self-certifying so any kind of humane or resource efficient logo you see is pure bullshit and there are loads of documentaries on this. Lastly even if the whole animal is used there are countless debates, forums and documentaries that exist to debunk the idea that it is resource efficient to rely on any animals as a source of any kind of material or food as they are secondary/tertiary producers on the energy pyramid (and a lot of other stuff). Check out r/debateavegan for example with any questions you might have about any situation and people from all over the world in various economic situations will explain with cited sources why animal products are never resourceful

I've actually been to the laugh factory when Kramer was doing a set at the laugh factory. This was before the infamous video. He asked the crowd if they had any deformities. I showed him my webbed feet. He said to me, and I quote "Throw his ass outside, he's a Ningyo, he's a Ningyo, he's a Ningyo. A Ningyo, look there's a Ningyo." I guess that's just part of his act. It turns out that whales occasionally yak up the ambergris and it floats (for years, sometimes). So it had been found before in the ocean and on coastlines. All the way back in Ancient Egypt it was used for incense and the like (it burns quite readily), so its olfactory properties may have been known longer than its source.
