Of course it is easy to second guess the driver. He didn't see the trail was washed out. With high hoods in trucks it creates a big forward blind spot. Having a 4Runner with the factory scoop I mounted a front camera to see ahead over berms and areas not normally seen. I do still scout ahead if I feel any concern about the trail. Nice job flipping the truck. Cool to clean up the spilled oil after tbe recovery.

There's about 2 feet of extra hood on that truck, meant for Inline-6 Cummins. I'd have a front bumper cam if I was going to offroad my 4x4 '04 3500. (but not on those trails)

That's the exact story of Paul's Tacoma, IIRC. Paul's friend rolled and totaled it when they were out hunting. Paul bought it, built the custom bed, suspension and axels. I remember him telling the story in an old video. Hope I got it right.

Considering that poor bugger probably totalled his vehicle, he was pretty cool about it! Just taking it for what it was an appreciating your help! I sure how if it's written off, he buys it back & builds something out of it. It's certainly proven it can do stuff, just panel damage! You very nearly had a sheriff with a live roll over too! It was close! (& he was game with the cameras out, good on him!! 👍)

I scrolled through the comments and didn't see anyone say this so I will. Always always ALWAYS check entrances and exits to washes and creek crossings when visibility is poor. Erosion is inevitable and stuff can change, even if you've been through it a hundred times.

It's obvious how the truck got totaled. Going to fast and not checking the trail ahead. I'm surprised that the truck made it out without more problems from the way he was driving. But it was totaled, and I guess having one last ride is understandable. I feel bad for the guy. Great job boys helping Paul in a time of need. Your guys are very amazing and deserve to be learning from someone like Paul.

my 21 jeep gladiator 3.6 has a crank feature. You hold the break and fuel pedal down at the same time it will crank until you hit the start button again. if you see this hope it helps in the future if needed.
