RIP Ron Ely. Fantastic host, smile, laugh, and presence. Truly a one-hit wonder in this genre of television, and FTM is one of my top favorites to date.

Seems like there was a lot of one-hit wonders when it came to Face The Music. It was Ron Ely and Lisa Donovan's only appearance on a game show. Tommy Oliver and his Orchestra would move on to the $100,000 Name That Tune a few years later along with Sandy Frank and his staff members.

True fact: Face The Music was the first game show ever to use mini commercial consolation prize cues, in this case Polyglycoat - the show's main sponsor. Two years later, Tic Tac Dough's fifth season would follow suit with Jergen's liquid soap and by 1983, it would be common to use mini commercial through game shows such as the Joker's Wild, Wheel Of Fortune, Jeopardy, Sale Of The Century, and The $100,000 Pyramid. This didn't apply to daytime game shows, however. This practice was stopped by 1987.

I remember seeing the polyglycoat mini commercial face the music back in the early 1990s when it was on the USA network when I was a kid i haven’t seen this mini commercial for years until now.
@meyerj752 ай бұрын
@@michaelcastellon1678 There were two of them from the second season only, the other one featuring "mother nature" with the face of a cloud resembling a little like Martha Raye back then. The first season used three different cue slides similar to that of Match Game for rustproofing sealant, sound shields, & textile sealant.

@crl6355Ай бұрын
Bob Eubanks just did a recent interview about how he landed (booked) The Beatles' first American concert. He told some funny stories, including the day he turned down an offer from Dolly Parton to be her manager because he was too busy. Boy, he later regretted that decision! 10 percent of 400 million! I'm glad that Bob and Wink are still kicking it with us! 😊
