Footsteps of Elvis Exhibition (largest exhibition outside Graceland) and interview with Elvis's stepbrother David Stanley
Watch more of our video's on www.FaceCulture... and follow us on / _faceculture . FaceCulture had the honour to talk to David Stanley about his stepbrother Elvis. We heard all about Elvis' charisma, kindness, pride, music, drug use and more. David Stanley explained what it was like to be Elvis' personal aid and bodyguard and to live at Graceland. He even took us back in time to that terrible day in August 1977. (26/08/2005)

I saw three interviews with this step brother not his blood brother but his step brother I don't like him he needs to get a real job and by Priscilla not being around him and Jerry not being around him says a hell of a lot about this guy's character he's gold digger like his mother we love you Elvis still don't worry this guy is not going to change our mind about you he accused you of committing suicide which is not accurate The only reason why I Elvis gave you a job because he felt sorry for you when he loved his father please I had enough I don't want to listen to you anymore or ever see any of your interviews again you're not worth my time good riddance to bad rubbish

Hello from England ELVIS died 2 days before my 12th birthday. I have been a FAN ever since Watching lots of videos about ELVIS and his "backstory" they make me think so much more of the years that have "flown by" No one knows REALLY WHAT WENT ON then only those that were there and with time and memories "stories" become a little less rememberable You cannot blame anyone except ELVIS and really he got into situations he could not get out of. He was ILL and knew it. Gladys died young with ailments and with genetics she passed them on to Elvis

To many people are still making money for telling stories about Elvis. Why can't they ever concentrate on all of the good things Elvis did instead of how much medicine he took. He was the best entertainer of all times. Elvis had so much on him. I honestly think that if Linda Thompson would have been at Graceland on that sad day that Elvis would have been saved because everyone said she kept such a close eye on Elvis and that she didn't sleep until Elvis was asleep. I know that Elvis wouldn t have laid on the br floor until 2:30 in the afternoon. Elvis welcomed all 3 of the Stanley brother's into his home and treated them with love, generosity and kindness. This is the one thing that all 3 of the brothers agree on. I know that Elvis cared for kids very much and he knew that the kids were there because his father had decided to remarry. Elvis was only 25 when they came to Graceland but he was still man enough to realize that they were just kids and needed to be treated with love and care. It was hard for Elvis because he loved his Mother so much but Elvis was a real man and didn t take it out on the kids. I love the story about Elvis buying all of them a yard full of new toys the first day after they arrived at Graceland. What an awesome and generous man Elvis was.

I think that Elvis just wore himself out. Heart trouble ran in his family. I think too much emphasis is placed on his drug use. He had a lot of responsibility on his shoulders, more than most people could handle. All the people around him would have been nobody without him. No telling how many people he was supporting. I believe he was totally worn down and just kept going till he dropped over.

Trudy R , I believe that too . Plus he was having trouble with his intestines . Maybe if he could have took the time to have had that taken care of it would have saved his life also . I know the drugs were way to much too . I think the people that loved him and knew him personally did try to help him . He was just in denial that he had a problem with the pills . I think he knew it was a problem , but maybe he didn't know how to ask for help or he was just too ashamed to ask for help . Bless his heart !! Who knows ..... what's done is done and there's nothing we can do about it now . I just pray he's at peace now . I sure do love Elivs and miss him though !! See you soon Elivs in Heaven !!

I agree 💯 everybody around Elvis we're using a taking advantage of this loving kind humble hearted man that loved His fans people a Goda his family. Elvis Presley was a care taker a supported so many people. All they did was use him a take advantage of his kind Genoristy. He needed to know w actions how much he was loved a appreciated they all should got togather a threw him an loving appreciated party Elvis needed to hear how special a loved he was when he was here. Not just to be rembered to make money on his name a memory. I believe there were a still are so much lies a cover ups.

I believe you're right but I think it's also the fact that he was extra sensitive sentimental loving and when that happens to an individual they feel things in a very intensified way and also initially he shared this to Linda Thompson another sensitive soul that he was intrinsically lonely and some of us can identify with this plus the fact that he was overwhelmed with his responsibilities and catered 2 so. A lot of this contributed to his isolation plus his intrinsic sensitive naturewood manifested in this beautiful voice and his demeanor. It seems to me like everything else was symptomatic of that delicate soul and people were attracted to this beautifulness of his heart and we could identify with his emotions within the lyrics of the songs and the fact that he selected when he selected the best songs showed his great intuition and selecting the best songs for himself once he realized it. So it's like he is boyfriend dad husband friend xcetera all in one magically all around when up with his protector which will be our protector and we are all are one and that is why we identify so much with this person . selected by God 2 touches us as we are all from the s a m e s o u r c e

Why are people complaining so much? Is there something about the man I don't know? Because here he is not trashing Elvis, he does praise him and is empathetic. Others have talked about the drug abuse, so he is simply being honest. His account of Elvis' death is consistent with that of Joe Esposito and Ginger, of him being dead a while before he was found. Even Lisa, as young as she was, spoke about him being very unhappy and helping him stand up. I admire his honesty.

Umm , he said he had to save him several times . I've heard Linda had to save him a couple of times . I've heard JD Sumner say , he had to save him before . I've heard the Memphis Mafia say that one of Elvis' young girlfriends had to save him one time . Then I heard Dr. Nick had to save him one time by putting a shot right into his carotid artery to save him . My goodness so....how many times did people have to save him ?!! Are these stories accurate ? Who really telling the truth ? Also , he said his mom was divorced from his real dad , but I heard that she was in an abusive relationship and she tried to go for Elivs at first . That was going to work , so she married Vernon instead . I heard she wasn't divorced yet from her first husband , so which is the truth ? Was she divorced from her first husband or not ? There's so many stories , I can't keep up with it all. I'm thinking gosh...this man was only 42 years old when he died . He sure did do a lot in his life time in just a short amount of time . Elivs will always be an amazing person though . He will always be loved and missed . I just pray he's at peace now .

Artist today still have not learnt on how hooked on drugs takes you to an early grave Elvis was lonely because he never found True love he womenise all his life he was sick of being trapped in fame in the u s he in the end didn't care about himself he didn't want to live He wasn't happy like David Stanley said because he hated the look at himself that's why there's not much film in the late 70s It a tragic life story of a poor boy who had nothing and to having millions the one person he devoted loved and listen to was his mom Who sadley died when he was only 23 if she would of lived Elvis would still be alive today

Listen, Elvis was a fun loving, generous, happy, spiritual man. He loved being "Elvis Presley". He was NOT sad and lonely. He had serious pain from a problem with his enlarged colon and the medication he was prescribed for this condition made him look swollen and puffy on some days, other days he looked great. Just look at his photo with Ginger on the front of her book taken in 1977.

What's with people hating on David Stanley? I get it, he and many other people take their past experience (being a part of Elvis' inner circle) and make money from it, but why not? Supply and demand! As far as who's telling the truth and who's making stuff up, it's virtually impossible for anyone to know for sure, even the people involved. While I can only imagine experiences with Elvis stood out at the time and were memorable enough to stick around for decades after, I think ANYONE trying to recall a story from years or decades ago is going to be accurate in some ways an inaccurate in others. Rather than accuse these people of being frauds or liars, could it be that they're just human and doing the same thing any human would do? Don't we all have different recollections of events in the past? Get a group of your own friends or family to tell the story of a time you all did something together (an event you all attended, an experience you shared) and there will probably be contradictions and differences in everyone's story. When it comes to something like learning about the life of Elvis, rather than saying "This person is telling the truth and this other person is full of shit", as long as the individuals were actually there (not someone claiming without evidence that they were there) I think the best way to approach it is to take the different stories and look for the overlap if you're looking for the core of the truth. All of the other details may be fuzzy and slightly distorted, whether unintentionally or intentionally for the sake of making a story more powerful. At the end of the day, we'll never be able to know what REALLY happened since we weren't there. I would rather have dozens of different accounts from a variety of people who were part of his life and make up my own mind about what I believe/don't believe than nothing, so if these people were/are able to make a living sharing their stories because the demand is there and people are willing to pay, why not? We all get more information to sift through, and it keeps the mystique of Elvis going, which is fun and entertaining too...

I don't know the reason, but Vernon and Dee lived in a house on the street back of Graceland, their back yard up against Graceland's yard. It could have been for their privacy. But, come to think of it, I've heard no stories about Dee and Elvis like her boys tell, and I wonder who the third brother was and how he fit in. No mention of him. I've always wondered, also, about Priscilla's family, did they visit,? Were they ever around?

Elvis abused prescription drugs, but we really don't know what killed him and it certainly wasn't a normal drug overdose. While a seizure and/or the techniques he used to deal with his twisted colon are far more likely suspects to have triggered his having a massive heart attack.

Evidentally Elvis had an addiction genetic factor since he couldn't reduce the drugs early in his life. After Elvis developed physical issues he needed meds for pain. The latest research states that he had an auto immune disorder which attacks your organs. So his life became even more difficult. Hate it for Elvis❤

If you mean the "truth" that this evangelist/conman speaks then you are very wrong. He has made his money by selling his lies about Elvis, everyone knows this. Except you.

This is my first time hearing him as far as what I read he wasn’t even in the room when he died. He didn’t find him dead. If he was a bodyguard he would’ve been outside waiting or something. Not sure why he’s lying. I guess he wants attention, but he seems very, very bitter because he die because Elvis showed him all kinds of attention and gave him all kinds of things I liked when he said I wasn’t an Elvis Presley fan. He’s not Elvis Presley fan and why is he talking about?

David Stanley grew up in Elvis' family from 4 years old. If you have'nt read any of the true stories written about Elvis' family or listened to the you tube interviews of family members, or his Mafia friends, you can't make a judgment of him. It's too complex. Inform yourself on those who surrounded Elvis and keep an open mind.

Look everyone who was close to Elvis wrote a tell all or gave damaging interviews. Ricky Stanley is no different. Ginger Alden knew him less than a year and wrote a book . I love Elvis but his behavior and addictions gave a lot of bad material for a tell all .

Yeah, Ginger lady hardly ever knew Elvis, esp late 76-77, Elvis wasnt himself..Not sure what she could write about Elvis,, At least Stanley brothers lived at Graceland for 17 yrs. Something to write about.. Elvis wasnt happy with Ginger anyway..She caused more misery to Elvis.

Elvis’ manager, Col. Tom Parker, said in a press conference shortly after his death: “Elvis didn’t die. The body did. We’re keeping up the good spirits. We’re keeping Elvis alive. I talked to him this morning and he told me to 'carry on.’” (Elvis did not die and he wanted out. - Col. Tom Parker. 1977) After hearing so many stories about the death of Elvis Presley, I have decided to tell the world the real story on the facts concerning that day in August, 1977. Yes, that day, the 16th of August. Is it a coincidence that a person born on that January 8, first month, eighth day, would perish on the 8th month and the 16th day? Probably if two (2) people were born on that day it makes more sense. You see, numerology always played an important part of my life and still does today. So many people have written or spoke about my death as a hoax. It was not a hoax! I decided to reinvent myself in the form of my brother (Jesse Garon) and yes, Elvis Presley did die that day. But after much searching for the right people, I found several people from different states who I consider my most loyal and trustworthy friends. To some people this book will be just another scandalous piece of fiction, but when you are done I think you will think otherwise. I always felt my brother deserved to live and what better way to let him live his life than to end mine. I was lonely, depressed, in bad health and my numerology chart said that this was the time for it to come to end. Anyone who studies numerology will understand, those who don't may want to look into it. All of the facts (and there are many) even the experts will say they are more than coincidences. I no longer give away Cadillacs or expensive pieces of jewelry because I am nothing more than a man who had a very famous brother. I am not a great literate (I never wrote my own songs), but I am not illiterate either. The perfect day August 16, 1977, 1 + 9 + 7 + 7 = 24, my age backwards (42), the facts go on and on. But my true reasons for the book are for my fans. My death was not a hoax! To my fans, please forgive me, my brother deserved to live, he was with me constantly (spiritually). My life would not be the same had he lived at birth. This was my way of giving him life, and corny as it sounds. The Colonel took this secret to his grave. He was a loyal friend. But I will no longer stand by and have people like Gail Brewer tell you stories that are pure fiction. This book written by a true friend will help you realize why I did what I did. - The Truth About Elvis Aron Presley In His Own Words. (2001). My fascination with the idea of a hoax about death was when Jim Morrison died July 3rd, 1971. Although I saw no correlation (he died at age 27) I was astounded that as famous as he was the body was just closed up and shipped out. Now I don't know all the facts concerning his death. I thought it awfully strange that no autopsy was performed (or so I thought) and just forgotten about. There were a lot of rumors about his death. I noticed he was born on the 8th day. Born in 1944 = 1-8 and died in 1971 = 1-8. Remember my comeback in 1968? 1+9+6+8 = 24. Obviously, I was no longer 24, so I reversed the age to 42. The next time that number had any relevance was 1977 (1+9+7+7 = 24 when I would be 42. Numerology can and does play an important part of my life and we knew that would have to be the date. Most people if they know what to look for will find significance in the forms of numbers in all of my movies! Example: gravestone in " Loving You" (year) 1878 = ? (1+8+7+8 = 24). You have to look at the movies. My hero James Dean died at the age of 24, but I was on top of the world then and wanted to live. - The Truth About Elvis Aron Presley In His Own Words. (2001). I will start about 1974 when the thought first came to me about faking my death. I have always been fascinated with the occult and other spiritual things. When I first saw a wax dummy of myself made by a Mr. Cooper I was fascinated with it. For some time I had thought if it was possible? Could I pull this thing off? I had asked Mr Cooper if he could make another wax dummy for me. He said he could. I in turn said I wanted him to do it and keep it strictly confidential. When I had mentioned it to a very few close friends (Joe Esposito, Larry Geller) they did not think I was serious. I was tired of being Elvis Presley, my health was deteriorating. I just couldn't keep up. My finances were floundering because of my daddy's poor business ventures. I was at my wit's end. As the years progressed I had my ups and downs which are pretty well documented in other books. I also had two detectives from Colorado who I trusted immensely. Originally the date was 1976 according to my numerology charts but I chickened out. A pact was made on the grounds of Graceland one night, hands placed over hands that this secret would never be spoken of outside this room. I picked four (4) of us initially and to this day all have kept the secret. I also know when this book reaches the bookstores people (my loyal friends) will be heartbroken. They took care of me and convinced others that I was no longer alive. In reality Elvis Presley died that day and my twin brother "Jesse" came to life, living in hiding but as a normal human being. I skip around because I am writing stream of consciousness. My own Daddy bless his soul never knew the truth. Little Lisa was told months later and explained to her she would not see me much. The Colonel took this secret to his grave. Many people believe me to still be alive but I was told in the beginning there would be no contact in order for this to work. I go thru a lot of ups and downs since 1977 and have lived in many states but I insisted I needed to be in a warm climate. My personal thoughts are that my fans will understand. That is very important to me. I just could not face myself any more after seeing myself in the mirror and that is where Larry Geller came in. He asked if he could write a book, and I gave him my blessing. "If I Can Dream" is the title and I like his book. He had filled my head with spiritual thoughts and made me believe we could pull this off. If I had stayed longer I think I would have been booed off the stage. That is why I chose the date 8-16-77. Do you know how many famous people passed away on that date? The great Robert Johnson died on 8-16 and he was born in 1935! Babe Ruth, and Bela Lugosi and many others. I must say I was very nervous that day 8-16. But it had to be done before I went on the road where I would not have been able to pull it off. Did you know there are secret compartments in Graceland that very few people know about! A few like Vester would joke about my being alive but no one took him serious. Many of my friends would ask if I were still alive and they have their doubts but as it was I might have died broke and just a shell of myself. I was given an injection that looked like I was dead but the people closest to me knew better. Believe me I had my doubts that this could be pulled off. But it did and I became Jesse, just a poor white southern boy who didn't sing a lick of anything. I feel bad my Daddy wasn't allowed to know but it just couldn't be done. I better go now and collect my thoughts to tell you the rest next time. - The Truth About Elvis Aron Presley In His Own Words. (2001). Elvis Presley changed and talks about his past, but he has his fans in his mind....As you listen to Pastor Bob Joyce (Elvis) in this video when you go to 10:15 he hints about his life before! Interesting isn't it? Here are the words that he says (go to 10:15 in the video): "There is something about this man, that is so appealing to me. That I am not going to concern ... I'm not going to concern myself with what I was and what I had before. Because Jesus makes a difference in my life. There is something about Jesus that causes me not to even be so concerned about my life that I had before. Or my problems or whatever it is that I had in life. Suddenly things have changed, my mind has changed, my affections, my ah ... interests has changed. I'm not interested in how many fish I can catch today. I'm interested to see what Jesus is going to do next. Can you imagine walking with Jesus everywhere you went. Listen what I am telling you this morning is reality." Elvis did not die on August 16 1977 it was a cover up & he went into hiding, cuz if u look at his last pic when he was alive he was overweight & did not look well which was his last concert & u compaire that pic to the pic of him in his coffin there is a huge difference between the two cuz the pic in the coffin his face did look younger & healthier then it did when he was so called alive. So the body they buried was a wax dummy but they will never bring his coffin back up from the ground to prove it other wise. He might had died b4 now but it was not in 1977 we the public will never know.
