My combo/very oily T-zone skin is loving that serum and I ordered two bottles more.. 🤭 I can see some small positive changes already and I’m excited to see long term results!

My acne, now at 30 years old, is nowhere what it used to be. It’s calmed down a lot. That being said, whenever I do get a pimple, because I still do, the PIH does not go away for months and months and it’s honestly such a pain in the ass.

Have you tried Platinum Skincare’s fade bright? Ingredients look good and seems similar to the Dr. Idriss serum

I'm currently using 2 serums, one is a Malaysian brand called SKINMADE, tranexamic acid + retinal serum, and the other one is an Indonesian brand called Glad2glow, their Pomegranate 10% Niacinamide Power Bright Serum. Both products really help fading my hyperpigmentation! I'm also using Skinfood Shine Muscat BHA 2% Toner to exfoliate. So far so good.

@@Bbernice21 which serum is the best? I think the Glad2Glow one, because I use the retinal serum for a while now, but after I add the niacinamide serum into my routine, my hyperpigmentation fades faster. But I use the retinal serum 3x a week only, and the niacinamide serum every morning & on the nights i don't use the retinal serum..maybe that's why..

hey Kelly! :) I remember when I watched your first impressions of Numbuzin 5 vtiamin serum and was waiting for the update ever since but you somehow never mention it in your videos. I wonder is it that you didnt see it as effective in terms of brightening? Since it is also based on very similar ingredients as haruharu wonder TXA serum. Or is there any other reason you didnt like it?

I think it's great and I tested it specifically for that video review! It doesn't fit my current skincare routine (this is the downside of having to always be testing new things for content), although I've used it to help with some PIH I had on my chest and it worked well!

Hi. I am not sure if it is too late to ask another question. I am trying to include melanin inhibitors in my skin care. The easiest seemed to be from the ordinary. When looking up what not to use with azelaic acid, it mentions all other acids, vitamiin C and retinol. What are your thoughts about this ?
@KellyDriscollАй бұрын
Never too late! The Ordinary is weird about their products and what you can and can't combine with them, but it's sound advice if you are using their products since they understand their formulas. It should not necessarily be taken as general advice for the active ingredients outside of their brand. However, you can use any actives you like outside of the routine you use The Ordinary azelaic acid in, so AM could be Azelaic Acid and PM could be Retinol etc.

@KellyDriscoll Thank you. I plan to do a chemical peel and as prep I am currently using fadebright from platinum skincare. Good results in one week. Stubborn hyperpigmentation is fading. It is expensive and I was looking g at replacing some ingredients. Looking at products from nine less

Oh no worries, it's fantastic stuff! I remember my younger less sensitive skin days using Kojie San soap which is a very good but drying kojic acid product, worked wonders for an uneven tan on my body skin! It's a better-known ingredient in Asia but less so in the west, so I was super impressed to see a brand like Dr. Idriss use it!

I'm quite sensitive to vitamin C ,so i personally use 5%niacinamide + 2%alpha arbutin +10% azelaic acid( as i had mostly PIE scars). Its been 1 month i saw little change on my acne scars😁.It take time & its all about consistency & patience.
@KellyDriscoll2 ай бұрын
PIE is very difficult to treat topically because it's vascular and responds differently than PIH which is a melanin response. PIE takes much longer to heal!

Are vitamin c derivatives as good as pure form for PIH? My skin can be very sensitive to Vit C.

Hey Kelly thanks for this informative video. I was wondering if you think it’s normal for a PIH spot to last almost a year later if you aren’t using all these creams? I’m trying to help my 8yo who had a big pimple on his cheek, healed it with hydrocolloid patches and centella. But that was 7 months ago and the red/purple mark is still there. I am using retinal as a spot treatment alternating with Azaleic acid (just on the spot!) but it hasn’t budged.

Hi. A couple of questions. How long does Paula's choice retinaldehyde last when using on alternate days ? Have you ever tried Cos de baha products (K-beauty) They have products for hyperpigmentation - both as single ingredient and combos. They have 2% hydroquinone which I have been eyeing for some time but scared to get into because it has to be cycled TIA :)

I would love to try Dr Idrees products but she doesn't ship to Australia and kind of disappointed she choose to go with Sephora as a distributor because Sephora is just sooo expensive. So at this point will be given this a miss. Could you please consider giving tranenxamic acid a deep dive as an ingredient. It appears that the evidence as its efficacy as a skin care ingredients is frankly not consistent and I suspect that in a lot the formulation its paired with niacimanides, and its the niacimanides that doing the heavy lifting.

Kelly you don't have 1 wrinkle one your skin, do you think genetics can slow down the aging process? Im 54 and i don't have wrinkles. I have been told i look 30, and i have never worn sunscreen. But i understand that it's good to use it.
@KellyDriscoll2 ай бұрын
Yes genetics will always play a factor in overall health and how our body ages, but there are always things we can to to optimize that process. I also think the face of aging is changing as many of us still think 50 = golden girls. Current generations as a whole are aging better due to a multitude of lifestyle factors that include but are not limited to skincare.

PIH lasts forever for me, the pigmentation lasts like months for me and I hate it, especially as I am asian and we are more prone to it. I use the Dr Vanita hyperpigmentation kit as that is the only thing that works for me. I have tried so many other products from korean beauty, melano CC and also faded topicals but they were never effective enough, maybe because Im skin of colour. Dr V makes products for skin of colour and hers seem to be so effective for me, as she uses a cocktail of tyrosinase inhibitors without irritation for coloured skin. Benzoyl peroxide and azelaic acid burnt my face and left rashes, I think I am allergic to those

Kelly, please suggest should i go for isntree chestnut 0.9% bha or isntree 2% bha toner? Or look for toners like these:👇 ▪︎Tiam AC fightning AHA BHA PHA toner ▪︎Roundlab Pine Calming Cica Toner Previously i had used minimalist 2% salicylic acid serum. Although it work great on my acne but it keep damaging my barrier .So i switched to isntree AHA but it didn't work very well on my skin( face look more red next day).
