This doesn't make anyone less talented or bad at music, it's just how society works, even if I study hard, there will be people who will always be ahead of me..... any industry is just source of income, some people are at the top, others just do what life offers after they don't achieve what they wanted. @@roi_k Think about it this way, the agency manages and pays for the training, marketing and gigs. The agencies also manage the logistics, support and pricing. In return the artists are treated as G&A or maybe Opex with the majority of margins recouping capital and operational spending. @MsMrReason3 жыл бұрын
In the words of YG 27 is the age where females should be retiring. Part of an female idol's appeal is youth and even if you look young they cannot get over that that you can technically be the mom of teengae idols. Kpop will eventually get there but not yet. They have the mentality of how managers treated the US girl groups of the 60s that disbanded when most of them reached their mid 20s. Best thing to do is become and artists like western females and you can go on indefinitely. Kpop for girls will always be teens to mid twenties as it is aimed at high schoolers in Korea

Ryu Sera perfectly described the commodity mentality intrinsic to K-pop and her awareness of it. Slowly, K-pop artists need to form their their own cooperative/label and become their own boss. Right now, it's just huge agencies that are akin to capital investors who could care less about mental health and the full development of a complete human artist. You can tell that Ryu is mature and highly analytical. She has had much post-traumatic growth, and I'm glad the industry has her at the vanguard. Happy that she appears to have had a supportive group of people who can hold her experience and not belittle it. My Korean friends have shared with me that showing weakness or suffering in the presence of others (even friends) can make you an eyesore or gain you mockery rather than sympathy. I suspect that the fact that Ryu speaks another language (English) so fluently also liberates her from the sometimes single-story reality that any society upholds. I wish her and all K-pop artists the best. 🙏
