I think Eddie Hall once had a 700 lb bench in him. He did 585 x 6 reps very easily a few years back when he was heavier. If the strongest bencher in the world gets 10 and is almost at 800, 6 reps could translate to 700. It’s like his current Road to 700 is just getting that strength back.

Brett Smith I’m sorry but there’s no way in hell Eddie could have EVER challenged Julius. Eddie could have been a 700 bencher in his prime for sure but no way in hell was he a 800 pound bencher you’re just pushing it at this point. dont think so. the human body is getting weaker over time since we dont really need strength as much as we used to. everything that is less needed will regress thats how evolution works and there is no need for the average human to become stronger than they are now. we used to plow fields with our bare hands on a daily basis or fight animals with no or little weaponary now we have machines. either we find drugs to enhance the performance to such extends or never ever such feats of strength will occure unless we go back to the stoneage
@samr4831
@samr4831 4 жыл бұрын
wookibert you do realise evolution takes tens of thousands of years if not hundreds of thousands, humans physiologically are pretty much unchanged for the last 10000 years except now we’re taller and stronger because of better nutrition, natural selection and preferable genes don’t apply to humans since everyone survives anyway so the strong guys will still pass down their genes, the next generations will still have as much potential if not more
@wookibert9620
@wookibert9620 4 жыл бұрын
@@samr4831 there is only so much you can do. people like julius are getting close to the limit you think he randomly took up weightlifting or anything and thats the result of a few years of training? the latent potential has no reason to increase so it wont increase. i did not say the next generation will radnomly start to wither away due to having weak bodys but never ever will such massive jumps of strength happen like some people dream about (at least not natrually). the physiology of humans thousands of years ago was alot diffrent than now dont be delusional the body was stronger because it needed to be stronger. only the strongest survived they had to walk away from diseases or broken bones without a doctor fixing them. those strong indivudals produced even stronger ones. but you said it yourself. nowadays everyone can survive. natural selection is no longer a factor so overtime we will get weaker. a average human back than would be superior to pretty much everyone right now. we are not the strongest or best versions of humans walking this earth (just talking about the body) and i think you do underestimate how fast changed living conditions can change a species if it was this incredibly slow there would be no successfull species around anymore
@samr4831
@samr4831 4 жыл бұрын
wookibert I disagree with this, first off you can’t say humans were superior in strength or whatever before because there is no proof, nothing, zilch, that’s a baseless claim but your argument is that their environment and life is what pushed them to become stronger. But isn’t that exactly the same as the humans today who lift weights their entire life and in a much much more efficient way for a sole purpose to become strong will that not push human genetics to allow for more strength potential since those humans are always in that environment? It’s the exact same argument, and the fact that there is no natural selection means there’s more potential for good genetics to push through, the difference is that the natural selection for the next generation to become stronger will be dictated by the offspring of people who are setting these records like Maddox and out of the best lifters out of those offspring and so on. I agree that there is probably a limit and there’s a point where you can’t improve much more, but if humans are always engaging in strength building activities there’s no reason for those humans to become weaker through generations
