I really like that, a sort of mix of traditional with modern.

FAIR is making very nice SXS's again, finally, and THIS GUY can't do anything than compare it unfavorably for 3 mins! If I didn't have an SKB 100 SXS and a Berretta 686 in 20 already, I'd really be interested in this very gun. I handled one last week. It would make a great hunting arm.

IDK, Mate. If you thought it was as expensive as an H&H or a Purdy, would you think it a better gun? Hell of a nice gun for the money in my book. Shoot safely, my Friends!

I've never hunted in the British Isles, but it's my opinion that here, in the U.S., people go into the field with guns that are far heavier and bulkier that necessary. There is really absolutely no need for a heavy 12 bore to shoot upland game. Yes, I know that light 12s with short chambers can be quite light and may throw more uniform patterns than smaller gauges. I think this is more theoretical than practical, esp. since the advent of shot cups (for better or worse, depending on exactly how the chokes are milled into the barrels. My own preference is for a very light 20 ga. double. I can carry it happily all day when my buddies are clearly less comfortable before sundown. The gun is highly effective.

Its horses for courses! A 20 can kill average distance birds no problem, its the longer range birds where a 12 comes into its own!
@wholeNwon6 жыл бұрын
So many think. In fact, I have far more 12 ga. guns in my cabinet than others; but, in reality the difference is minimal. Whether 12 or 20, each pellet for a given balanced load has approximately the same energy. If the chokes are identical (a big "if"), the pattern diameter at any range should theoretically be the same. The difference would then be pattern density. I don't think that an extra 1/8 or 1/4 oz of shot in the pattern makes a meaningful difference. If you think so, shoot heavier 2 3/4" 20's or 3" shells. But you'd be better off not trying shots that are beyond your skill as a marksman or at ranges where birds have a right to be safe from wounding. In practice, I personally don't take shots beyond 40-45 yds. That's the limit of my skill at consistently producing very clean kills, though in pattern and penetration testing, the gun would clearly be deadly at longer distances.

We have a duty of care to the game we hunt, to get it dead and in the bag as quickly and humanly as possible. I agree that with walked up game you should limit yourself to as close as you can guarantee consistnat kills. with driven shooting however i think its a little different. There is more time, opportunities for multiple shots, and pickers up behind you to collect shot birds, wherever they land

Lucky for you they make nice women's guns that are not to heavy to carry, regular guys, at least American guys, do not have a problem carrying their guns, water, ammo, snacks, dog treats etc all day long. I have hunted in the UK and it was like hunting in a zoo. It was all too well planned and orchestrated. Not very sporting.

Used to use 20s a lot and still have my triple barrel which is my go to gun. Then I bought a light 12 (70s Beretta 426e) - I wouldn't buy another 20 in a steel shot world... maybe 16 will be the new 20...

Good review, any reviews coming up for the Beretta 486, Fausti Dea or Fabarm classis? I'd like to see some more side by side reviews on here if you have any more of them or are getting some in.

Have you been able to review the Dickinson side-by-sides? I'd love to see a review from you all about them if possible. The Estate model seems most comparable with this one, but with double triggers, case color hardened receiver, and checkered wood butt.

Is this gun available with a Prince of Wales, or full Pistol grip? For some reason I can't get on with straight hand stocks to date irrespective of manufacturer.
@Cuccos192 жыл бұрын
There is a full pistol grip version called the Iside Gardena, but it is a traditional double trigger one (which all side-by-sides should be IMHO) www.fair.it/en/products/hunting-shotguns/side-by-side/iside/
