Fairfax County brothers given walk of honor ahead of organ donation after fatal house fire

A special flag was flying outside Children's National Hospital in Northeast D.C., honoring the two Clifton boys who died days after their house caught fire.
The organ donations of William, 6, and Zachariah Brice, 3, will help save up to 9 people's lives, according to Jecoliah Daniels with Infinite Legacy, a nonprofit organ procurement organization working with hospitals and transplant centers to help decrease the number of people waiting for a lifesaving transplant.
"The impact of this selfless decision is going to live on for a long time to come," said Daniels.

It’s hard enough to lose a child but, then being able to allow parts of them to be removed and given to others requires a courage and love that not all parents posess. Tragedy that turned into miracles for some! Idk how a mom could go through this tragedy and get up every morning facing the day without her 2 boys! She carried them for nine months, feeling their first kick until delivery then nurture them every day when sick, first boo-boo, first hug and kiss. You wake up thinking it’s a nightmare and realize it’s reality. They would have to keep me knocked out .

What's disgusting is blaming these fire victims while having absolutely no clue how the fire happened. People surviving a fire that killed other people is not automatically a bad reflection on the survivors. Firstly, adults are automatically better able to save themselves in a fire due to their mental and physical abilities, while children must often rely on others. If the fire blocks access to them, they are in trouble, which brings me to the second point: Fires are not predictable. I live with my disabled elderly mother. My room is downstairs; hers is upstairs - and there's only one way to access upstairs. If a fire engulfs that upstairs access point, I will have to leave her there and pray that firefighters can get her out via a ladder at her window. If the fire engulfs the area near the entrance to her room, that's another scenario in which I would have to leave her. There are all types of scenarios that involve people legitimately having to leave people behind because trying to save them means certain death, automatic debilitating injury, and/or loss of consciousness before you can even make it to them.
