Lucy's "Why!?" on the bridge is "why did this craziness happen?" not "why did you shoot them?". It's exasperation over everyone trying to kill her all the time.

Maximus lied about his name to Lucy because he announced himself as Knight Titus back in Filly. If he told her the truth now, she'd know he was lying before, and she'd be less likely to let him out.
@johnplaysgames3120
@johnplaysgames3120 Ай бұрын
That may be part of it, but, given the structure of the writing, I think the show was leaning more toward the idea that he just told someone the truth and it backfired, so he went back to the lie. Maximus is written as being low INT, low CHA, and a little child-like. At no point is he playing any kind of mental chess (or even mental checkers). He's basically like, "I just burned my finger on the stove, so I'm not going to touch the burner again." Simple as that. I think this is part of why those two scenes follow each other. (1) Having his attempt at honesty and trust go poorly gives physical motivation for his squire to leave (leaving him stranded for Lucy to find), and (2) having it go poorly gives Maximus emotional motivation to retreat back into the lie after he was finally flirting with honesty. Especially when you put it in the context of the world he lives in, where trusting others is rarely if ever a good idea and his attempt to actually put his trust in someone just blew up in his face a few hours before Lucy arrived.

My interpretation is way different. He want to be a Knight, someone special. For him Maximus, himself isn't that.... at least yet So he lies he is a Knight, and automatically says the Knight's name, and also if anyone hear the name it matches. If he would say Knight Maximus those who have inner knowledge would know he is not a Knight, anyone just repeats his name he is done. He also cannot say Maximus, squire while in Power armor. His job would be to stay out of armor, report the incident, get back to base. He doN't have the right to be Knight. So he says he is Tidus until finds a way to clear the situation with the elders, while giving the target's head, reward, happy end.

Power Armor is an American invention that turned the tide of the Resource Wars in Alaska, they're synonymous with say, G.I. the inaccuracy is Lucy saying the T-60's were active in Anchorage which is false, they came too late and were the final model, it was the T-45 from Fallout 3 that was used to liberate Anchorage and the T-60 came off production lines too late to make a difference.

2:57 - "Is that ment in case someone goes rogue they can shut them down?" Thaddius removed the Fusion Core from the Power armor instead of just shutting it down. It is a new:ish thing from Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 (which is basically Fallout 4 gameplay mechanics with Online features) and is the power source for the armor. In the early games you usually learned how to use Power Armor towards the end of the game as you slowly leveled up and geared up. You through gameplay and story you'd learn a skill that let you step into a Power Armor and you could then beat the harder bosses. In Fallout 4 however Bethesda had done some retconing so that Power Armor was designed to be used by almost anyone of the US army instead of some elite trained squads. They could not have the Power Armor be super powerful as that would either trivialize everything in the game, or be weak enough to still be a challenge as then it would be harder to gear up and come back later. So in FO4 they give you, the player, your first Power Armor very early in the game, literally within the first few quests, but they added the batteries as a way to limit when players used it. So if you could power the Pwer Armor then you could use it almost all the time, but in early game you'd keep it somewhere and bring it out for when there would be some difficult combat.
@johnplaysgames3120
@johnplaysgames3120 Ай бұрын
Still, in-world, it seems like weird design to put the thing that can shut your armor down on the outside where anybody could grab it (like Thaddeus did). That would be like going into a street fight with long hair; you're just giving your opponent something to grab onto to debilitate you. Obvs, the real answer here is "bc video game," but still... just seems like bad design not to hide/protect your power source a little better.
@markcarpenter6020
@markcarpenter6020 Ай бұрын
Its already wierd that 31,32, and 33 are still closed. In the games we have only seen around a third of the vaults so far, but most of the vaults seem to have opened 150 years or less after the bombs fell. They are exceptions like vault 101 which was never supposed to open, but in general it's really rare to find a vault that is inhabited and even rarer to find one that never opened.(Yhere are cases of vault dwellers staying in their vault for safety but trading with the outside world) The earliest vault we know about opening is I think 76 which was only supposed to be closed for like 20 something years (though its opening was delayed a few years). So Maximus isn't really wrong about monsters being in vaults. Either because of the experiments that went on or just because of animals/raiders moving in to empty vaults after they opened. Most of them are pretty dangerous places.

@@johnplaysgames3120it wasn’t like that before Fallout 4. Bethesda decided to make the fusion core a limited use battery that needed to be changed regularly for gameplay purpose, but before Fallout 4, it was never intended to be removed and was supposed to last for a hundred years,.

@@probablysomeguy4806one of the poorer design choices when it would be more fotting to just keep one core around and use it on an empty armor you find like a car key and make it more interesting by implementing different types for different armors. Like say finding an Enclave set but you need a certain type of core to make it funtion properly. Kinda weird that fusion cores burn out like flashlight batteries in a bad indie horror game.

11:00 - You have not heard about these Vaults before. Vault 31, 32 and 33 are completely new to the Lore. But Bethany is spot-on about discovering Vault 32 and the politics and intrigues of Vault 33 (and why always an Overseer from Vault 31?!). As a player we would go into the Vaults similarly to how Norm and Chet discovered and explored the remains of Vault 33. As players we'd enter into an already abandoned Vault, looking around to see if we could find any clues and reading all the computer terminals we could find. Obviously the graphics is better in the show and they are able to play into the horror of seeing a bunch of skeletons which we as players might just brush off, but how it's done it very much how it's done in the games!
@johnplaysgames3120
@johnplaysgames3120 Ай бұрын
I love how much the skeletons they find in the show (everywhere, even in the earlier episode where Lucy finds the family who took Plan D around the dinner table) look like the skeletons you find in the games. Like, IRL, you probably wouldn't find two skeletons with their hands wrapped around each others throats or the skeleton holding the knife in the toaster slot -- bc bodies don't just freeze that way when they die -- but those kind of "story-telling" skeletons are what you find in the games all the time to give you clues as to what went on in the location. The show did a great job of capturing the vibe of the game design, all the way down to that subtle level of not-quite reality (where other filmmakers might've just scattered skeletons and bones around and figured it was "basically the same as what the game is doing, right?".
@TheEclipse420

We call them "Environmental storytelling skeletons" and to us they are as treasured of a part of Fallout as the factions are. Telling their own story and permanently captured for the player to learn what happened to them right as the bombs took them.

I don't know this for sure! But I think, when Maximus "claims" the armor, he becomes the new "Knight Titus". So the mark, or brand, would still apply so long as he succeeded and was elevated to knight. Definitely not a defense for how he went about this because the man couldn't have been more suspicious if he'd tried XD but it does explain why the branding wouldn't have made much of a difference! Either way, Thaddeus was serving "Knight Titus".

@alicea3421
@alicea3421 Ай бұрын
No, it isn't. The writers are idiots, therefore all of the characters must also be. Maximus just happens to be one intentionally due to his stunted development. Idiot Savant grants more XP, to account for the XP missing from a low INT character, which can be argued is true, that maybe he develops more than other characters. But that's never what's meant when people say this. It's used to describe why he's so (stupid) lucky, or succeeds when he should fail. Nothing at all to do with the perk. Does Moldaver also share that perk?

@@markcarpenter6020 His focus is in melee fighting, not shooting, which is something we see pretty clearly when he's shooting at the Gulper -- a huge target -- and misses every shot. Meanwhile, not only does he regularly take a beating and get back up (bc Endurance), he also can beat ass, as we see when he fights the would-be power armor thieves with a crowbar and a toilet seat. The only time the show really strays from his lack of shooting focus is when he lands that shot on the Fiends on the bridge, but then, I guess, we all get lucky shots in the game sometimes, even if our shooting skill is low.

I loved the bridge scene... the absurdity of it. Note they somehow restored Vault 32 in approx. a day (perfect song). Also the overseer terminal was destroyed while everything else looked nice, that terminal was working when they checked it earlier, it showed it was his mother's pipboy that opened vault 32. So it was sabotaged later during cleanup. Also Betty told Norm her mom's pipboy was burried with her mom, she was there. My guess it might be true! Remember first episode all dead bodies were dragged to compost room. Burial means surface... Not hard evidence but...i think she didn't lied. Poor Maximus isn't evil, but his speech skill and intelligence isn't super high.... clearly. His timing is awful. Also true most groups in real life, also here think they are the good guys. For Brotherhood collecting dangerous techs and fighting anything setanding their way. For the vault they were told they will bring civilisation to the wild surface. Clearly Moldaver who stole Lucy's dad Hank has some agenda and think she is doing the right thing too... Also i have noticed both the voting now and even the vote for Lucy's request to get marriage in episode 1 was done secretly, pipboy, or behind curtains, clearly can easily be manipulated. Also fascinating to see 3 vaults connected.... grest idea for this show, gives lot of opportunities.

With Maximus, you kind of have to imagine him as a 5 year old. He's written as a low INT, low CHA character which is why he never says the right things in the moment, doesn't explain himself well, makes poor choices, etc. But, as far as his reasoning in the moments like when he brands Thaddeus and then decides to tell him the truth, picture Maximus as a child in that same situation -- which, mentally and maturity-wise, he basically is -- and his character and decisions make way more sense.

I think they are hinting at Maximus having a certain perk in the game called "idiot savant". You're stupid lucking, and get more xp, but it's only effective the less intelligence you have. So he's street smart, but extremely dumb. That might make his character a little bit more understandable, and really does reflect in what's happened to him so far. He's just got dumb luck.
@alicea3421
@alicea3421 Ай бұрын
It just requires 5 luck, it only randomly gives xp multiplier on success. A way that could be presented is that he'd develop more and learn from his experiences more, maybe that is true of the show. It does not explain why the reality and character warping nonsense scenarios surround Max and Moldaver.
