Even landing in the Frontier specifically would have made more sense then, because he could have been looking for one of the last remaining Enclave outposts there. I DID find one, though I couldn't enter it because I'm pretty sure it's exclusive to another faction playthrough.

I agree. Having the C-finder destroyed only to discover it landed on the Frontier just feels like padding and dumb because it is. The mod acknowledges how ridicolous it is, but it just comes of as bad taste than trying to be tongue-in-cheek humor jab. If it landed elsewhere, like in China and they have to get it, it still feels like padding but that at least would make it a little bit interesting.

It seems like the NCR Exiles are 10x more competent than the regular NCR, with better weaponry, actual vehicles, better training, and somehow enough soldiers to fight multiple threats here. However, the mod keeps trying to tell us the opposite. Every mission the courier goes on, everybody dies except the courier and one other person.

I'm sorry. I know how dumb this mod is. But I must point out how completely asinine this is. You are telling me. That this important piece of technology, just survived getting NAILED by a giant asteroid that obliterated the rest of the Space Vertibird. Somehow managed to luckily get put on a trajectory towards Earth. Survived re-entry into the atmosphere which literally cooks spacecraft. And managed to safely touch down without turning into a fireball or exploding on impact, right in the Frontier? Are you fucking kidding me?

You forgot to mention that, on top of all this, the legion found the wreckage right away and recognized among all the ship and meteor debris that tiny inert handheld device as the important part to keep. It would have been so much easier to just say "after the destruction of the finder in the shuttle, the homing beacon now points at an old storage facility. Meaning a second c-finder became active. Makes sense that they made more than one targeting device but only keep one active at a time."

The C-Finder is made of metal, plastic, and maybe glass. It's the size of average pistol, that thing would've been nothing but a hunk of melted metal if it even hit the ground. There's no guarantee it would even make it to the ground.

I lile how after finishing the enclave space station the outro kinda implies this was the end of the frontier mod. Llike we could have been fighting the legion going on missions to destrory weapon stock piles, food storage, resource dumps, gathering intel, using said intel to do the things listed or assassinating legion leadership where we could (unit officers/Commanders). Then when NCR exiles gave regrouped launch a precision strike across the region at major legion bases, after a few successful battles Enclave Vertibirds swoop in dropping bombs, blasting both sides in a complete surprise reports of a beam on light coming from the sky wiping out entire outposts/convoys. Only after shooting down 1 vertibird we go to find and capture it then to call in to have it somehow drag it back using a stuck with a AA gun on back with the support of NPC tanks, the Enclave launch attacks to destroy the captured vertibird but the AA gun and the tanks hold them back but with heavy losses(plus dead tanks). The vertibird needs to be repaired so where sent to various military bases m/scav location that could have parts, all while the Legion VS NCR VS Enclave battle wages on. After this we are tasks in putting together a crack team of 10 people (of our choice). There'd be npc's that had been put throughout the game that either helped us/meet and it's our job to find them in this chaos of a battle going on, then bring them safely back to base. Vertibirds repairs, found some space-suits then we go to the station fight our way in an the enclave unleash their experimental abomination to take us out while they evacuate as the station is set to self destruct. We our able to delay the count down (more so if you brought a computer wizard) to catch the escaping enclave in the back (battle for the c-finder begins). By the end enclave are dead or few escaped back to earth and the c-finder destroyed/lost in space, during our battle on the station we'd have our team (if we choice) go off on side tasks to either capture/reprogram defences to help us or download enclave shit to help us later (hopefully) basically like in Mass Effect 2 on the Collector base. When we return to the NCR not much remains, the base is all but destroyed, Legion have a few hold outs (legate still lives) and now these a few enclave bases. We clean up but NCR exiles sticks around or disbands depending on how helpful we where at the beginning stage and what we download from enclave space station.

Honestly his comparison to AmericanWeirdo was really smart. AmericanWeirdo mods aren't serious at all, completely satirical, and funny because of that. Ah yes, after getting INCREDIBLY advanced technology that could wipe the legion off the face of the earth and having a literal officer of the NCR as the brains of the Archimedes II space station, the legion is still a threat. Like that would make more sense in a satire mod than anything else. The C-finder fell from low orbit, roughly just over the western coastline of the United States, despite the 0.000.000.000.000.001% chance it would stay intact, it: 1: survived the explosion of Voss’s shuttle. 2:narrowly avoided the meteor storm 3:somehow didn’t burn up on re-entry to the atmosphere despite being a hand held item that would be burned to carbon particles before even touching the ground. 4:didn’t fall into the Pacific Ocean 5:didn’t land anywhere else besides Portland Oregan outside of the other 13 states it could’ve. 6: didn’t shatter into pieces upon hitting the ground at what was probably mack 60. 7: still had a working transceiver 8: and was within walking distance to get for the courier. In any other situation, I’d say God himself wanted you to have the thing, but this is just TRoS levels of convenience.

Zach's mention of Moonraker at the end makes for a pretty fitting comparison to the Frontier. Moonraker has great memorable (if silly) setpieces while the plot is a mess. Same goes for the Frontier: it's incredible that they were able to do this on such a janky and aging engine, but the story just doesn't work.

On a technical level you really have to appreciate what the Frontier's authors have done with the game engine. It's far more ambitious than anything I've seen by anyone else by a longshot, and it mostly works. The writing does have some hit-and-miss moments, though, and that's clear. These are amateurs, not professionals. Fallout 1, 2 and NV can be serious RPGs that crack stupid corny jokes, too, but there's a proper balance and those jokes land. I think the mod authors like Fallout, and wanted to emulate that balance of comedy and seriousness, make a satire RPG, but just fell a bit flat. The pacing isn't great, things are filled with plot holes, and it asks too much of the player to simply "go with it" without grounding it enough. People might criticize the snake people, but is that really so weird for Fallout? No, Fallout is full of bizarre creatures that sometimes talk. Is going to a space station too weird for Fallout? Not at all, it mirrors the plot points of the canceled Van Buren project. These are all things that either have, or would, happen in a canonical Fallout game. The problem is the execution over the concept, I feel.

You litterly time travel in fallout 2 and help a ghost pass on . Space station isnt that of a silly idea. Personally i think it was refreshing break from all the reused asset mods that force you to hunt random people down in some old shitty pissstained destroyed building. The only huge porblem with Frontier that i have is the nihilistic nature that its trying to potray makes no fucking sense at all. It dosnt know how it wants to treat the courrier, one moment it treats him like a badass jesus like hero figure the next it tells you how shitty of a person you are, Its to preachy espeacily since it dosnt give you choice to avoid some of the bigger disasters like the ending where everything is just fucked. Leaving no hope for the future and overall just a bad taste in players mouth.

According to what I heard during the beginning of this controversial mods descent to infamy the development didn't really care for the base game and didn't play the dlc. That's probably why it feels like someone who hates fallout wrote this.
