@@metanightmare4454 Actually, it was confirmed by Game Freak that Alomomola WAS made to be Luvdisc’s evolution. The only reason it wasn’t is that Black and White only introduced new Pokémon and kept older ones for the post game. So the evolution was scrapped and we were left with this ridiculous fish. I say they should’ve just scrapped it all together and designed a new, better evolution for Gen 6 instead.

For anyone curious, the Gen 7 UU council did finally address and come to a conclusion about the brokeness of Stall in the tier about a month ago. And their conclusion was: *Quagsire* - and they banned it from the tier via council vote. Mola still runs around on stall scott free within the tier, while stall teams now fall back on the much less optimal Pyukumuku to fill the hole left by Quag.

Personally yeah the BW dex reboot was probably the reason and thus we got a bunch of redundant mons. That said given troll freak of late I would argue there is no reason they can't retcon this. After all if they ditched the ice rock and moss rock for leaf stone and ice stone for evolving Eevee and started axing Pokémon left and right I think it wouldn't be too much more of a stretch further to start messing with what evolves into what etc.. looking at their stats probably will never happen but Luvdisc at least would have loved evolite. Though looking up their stats amusingly Luvdisc actually has higher special defense and both have identical special attack. So in a way we might be lucky they didn't make it an evolution as then it might have been even more bulky....

I couldn't help but notice that the move Soak was ignored in this video, and that's sad. Soak is a move that turns your opponents typing into pure Water. Alomomola is lowkey one of my favorite tank Pokémon in the game. I used it in the battle tree with a Wacan berry and Mirror Coat and it was super fun.

Honestly, in gen 7 it had a niche in OU albeit very small. I remember it being used on some stall/balance teams as a replacement for Toxapex if they wanted some role compression as Mola can of course WIsh-Pass unlike Pex which meant that it paired really well with Heatran and some wallbreakers as well. But it's true that this niche was pretty much only existent on paper as Mola was almost never actually seen despite having a niche.

Alomomola is much greater than I expected, perhaps that’s because I started to really get better at the game in Gen 7, and stall was never my thing. But in all seriousness, just give it Flip Turn and perhaps it will be able fit even on more offensive builds, like bulky offense, w wish, protect, flip turn and healing wish

Alomomola is a really great pokemon, in my opinion. In terms of stall, it might be that the key to defeating it would probably be the removal of its teammates, if possible. But in terms of 'banning' or 'removing' something, I'd have to say that the Unaware partner or the Regenerator ability is what truly makes stall teams so un-fun to fight. If I were to make it Alomomola better... I'd say giving it perhaps Flip Turn? I think that might push it into the Really Unfair territory in terms of facing it, but it'd be amazing to see.

Luvdisc is a fast pokemon with speed being one of it's best stats, and not that much bulk. Alomo is bulky and slow. They serve completely different purposes. @@gwenpolo1307 you don't get it... the original gen 5 games only had new pokemon available, so since Alomamola was a new gen 5 pokemon it would brake the trend of the rest of the gen 5 mons if it Did evolve from an older pokemon.

Day 9 of asking this Hey I have an idea for pokemon that aren't is SW/SH. So basically showdown has a format called "National dex" and smogon has logs of bans,pokemon that dropped, etc. This can be ur coverage for gen 8 but it stops at UU and everything under it is called "Under UU." Just something to consider. It's similar to how you cover doubles. You don't say if something is DOU so that can be done with National Dex? Idk this is a stretch in and of itself, but still something to consider

I don't care what anyone says, Alomomola *does not* need to evolve from Luvdisc. A heart-shaped fish doesn't need to evolved into a nurse fish with hand fins that is very vaguely heart-shaped.

@@kriblar98 To me they're more example of convergent evolution than anything else. But I've seen so many Luvdisc evolution fakemon that actually build on Luvdisc's theming much better than Alomomola ever would. But yeah that fish needs all the help it can get.

I was thinking about this pokemon and how good it was when this popped up
