I love seeing families with kids doing van life, it's always inspiring. I didn't like this lay-out a lot though. Felt too cramped with the large kitchen and the cabinets all around. I do understand it's hard to fit everything in though. I love the swivel chairs with dining table, I think that's a must have with kids. I think this should've yielded more space elsewhere though. If the bed would've been in the back, part of your kitchen counter could've been on the opposite side next to the bathroom and you would have had a lot of open space between kitchen and sofa when you folded your bed up. You wouldn't have been able to go through the doors in the back, but I don't see much benefit in that.

Love this van layout. Love the seating area with the swivel seats to seat 4 comfortably. Love that they have a bathroom and a huge kitchen with an oven. Think it is perfect for a family of 4 for holidays, but couldn't imagine living in it fulltime with two kids.

Yeah...We're a family of four-my husband and I + our two boys. I watch these vanlife and tiny home videos so much, and thoroughly enjoy seeing the different designs and how people make it work. After this video I realize more than ever that this is only just a category of videos I like watching on KZbin..not an actual goal of mine. I couldn't imagine living in a van with two kids like this..It's like building a fort as a kid...the first little while of hanging out in it was amazing and new and fun, but then after a while you realized that you were bored and there wasn't much space to move or much to do inside, so you left to play in your room instead. This might be fun as a camper van..using it to take weekend trips to the beach, road trips, etc. but not full time living. Good for them I guess if it works.

You're ushering in a new era of families living in vehicles....Just think a few short years ago families living out of a van would have been a social workers dream. Fast forward a few years, throw in a moderately attractive couple, craft beers, greater public awareness and understanding and bam! Paradigm shift.

It’s great that this works for them but I just think over time I’d find it kinda claustrophobic and because I have siblings I wouldn’t have any alone time and I would feel really trapped I applaud them for doing what they want and living a unique lifestyle but I just think you would end up getting mad at each other cause you couldn’t move around ya know ?💕

I understand your worries but I think it's not that big of a deal at this age yet. They are pretty small and it's like camping. They might want a place to settle down when the kids grow older though, I agree on that. My husband and I are thinking about van life with kids but would want to buy a piece of land eventually aswell so we can build our own house ánd have a van to travel in.

I'm wondering the same thing as we have kids similar ages, would like to have a van for travel but we live in a places were kids need car seat until about 8-9 years old. The car seat that we own need more room (our 4 year old is still rear facing as it's safer) and they need good tethers for rear facing and for forward facing. Would really like to get an answer from anyone that is in a converted van or camper. Thanks.

Uri Al The establishment don’t like you not paying into the system,ie; taxes,council taxes etc. It’s all about the money isn’t it. I’m sure you can stop at certain places ..but others not so welcome. it’s not illegal I don’t think..just might be made uncomfortable by the cops when someone grasses you up for staying in a place out side their house or down a snobby street. As the cops haven’t got anything else useful to do.

It's not illegal
@velocity1012
@velocity1012 3 жыл бұрын
It's not that it's illegal but if an investigation is opened to "ensure the safety of your children" this is technically considered living in a car which is an inappropriate living situation. If you are really concerned, consult with a family court lawyer first to find out if maybe a full size RV would be considered appropriate permanent living quarters for a child. Also, keeping a "permanent address" such as at a parent's house where you can keep (stage) some toys and clothes for your child would be a nice safety net in case anyone questions your child’s well-being, even if you aren't really living there.

i hate to break it to ya, but if you had to shave 10 inches or so off of BOTH sides, not only is that not, “a little bit smaller than a queen” that’s also smaller than a FULL.... a queen mattress is 60in wide, and a full is 54in wide, so if y’all can do basic math, shaving 10in off both sides would be 60in-20in= 40in .... therefore that’s JUST A BIT BIGGER THAN A TWIN..... lmao don’t try to deceit the people

In NYC, I'm paying $3,000/month for a tiny 2 bedroom, utilities NOT included. If I lived in a van, I could have afforded private school education. Instead, I'm worried about keeping the lights on. Making 6 figures and still feeling poor because of the cost of living is not cool. If I could have a driver's license, I would have considered this lifestyle.

Lmao you'd be missing the whole concept of living in a van, those who choose to live in a van usually have the mindset of helping the environment, therefore throwing away a ton of plates and silverware a day doesnt seem very environmentally conscious. Also you'd find that having a kitchen in a van is more of a luxury than a burden.
